This is from the musical Kristina from Duvemåla written by two ABBA members Björn and Benny(the two gentlemen the camera focused on in the audience). The musical is about what difficulties a family faces when poverty- migrating from Sweden to America. In this song a devastated Kristina thinks of all the bad things that have happened to her, having to leave her home, losing her child and her husband's love. She desperately prays to God, not knowing what she will do if he isn't real.

I wish you understood the lyrics in this amazing song. Every time I listen to this song in particular, I shiver so much the hair in my arms are risen. Helene Sjöholm is always good but in this masterpiece she is OUTSTANDING ❤️

This song is about a poor Swedish immigrant in America who has faced extreme hardship in her life and as she prays to God she finds herself starting to doubt his existence and as a very devout person she doesn't know who she is if he doesn't exist so he has to. I'm not a believer myself but the pain she communicates in this is so moving that it has me bawling like a kid every time

I have heard this powerful and awesome performance at least 300 times. EVERY time I get goosebumbs and cry. It gets me EVERY time!

The best performance of Helen Sjöholm ever. She is incredible here! Soooo much passion, emotions and power. She is singing to God and is questioning if he is real. Very deep and very heartfelt. Helen was brought up with the heritage of Swedish Folkmusic, just like I also was.. Her Mother sang in the same choir as my parents for decades !! Helens control of her voice is something else :D // I believe Björn and Benny from ABBA wrote this song especially for her to sing. it`s from a Great Drama, telling us about the hardships so many emigrants experienced when leaving Sweden for America during some horrific famine years.. like 1/3 of the Swedish population did between 1850-1920 ..

I had the great opportunity to play in the Gothenburg Opera orchestra during 1996 and 1997 during several performances of “Kristina from Duvemåla” while Helen Sjöholm perfromed as the main character Kristina ❤

As a Swede born in the early 80s, that "2" up in the upper right corner is really kicking nostalgia into gear. I havnt seen that logo in at least 25 years.

Being a Christian and knowing the meaning of the song, this is always moving for me, ever since hearing the original soundtrack recording. However, I have since seen an even more impressive and moving performance by Helen on stage doing the musical back in the day. It is on the "Mono music AB" channel. She literally, desperately yells "Du måste!!" and it is heartbreaking every time.

I had the honor to actually see this musical with its original cast, besides Helene Sjöholm Peter Jöback played one of the main characters, he went on to play the Phantom in The phantom of the opera on Westend later. Watch his big number in this musical “Guldet blev till sand”

She is starting to doubt the existence of God - a force she always took for granted, and her world is trembling.
