I have started painting in my 50's .I bought on line Helen Van Wyk books and was reading and painting. I only could dream about her 'life lessons". So I just was looking at her paintings in her books and copied them. I was actually surprised that I like what I painted. She was great teacher. Now I have another favourite teacher on YT. I can see now a completely different approach to oil painting. My skills grow too. But I am still just self- taught amateur. Thank you very much for upload.
Hi Helen, Thankyou so much for this video, very helpful. I have a question about palettes though. Are wood ones better, and should I have more than one and are they hard to clean. At the moment I am covering my pallets with tin foil? Thankyou.
Get wood pallet or a glass pallet. Lose the tin foil! When it is time to clean your brushes and pallet of oil paint, use Dawn dish soap. It cuts grease and it will clean the oil paint from anything.
