When I listen to Helen's words about how she describes and feels music - I am confident to state that she has reached/achieved a highest level of "enlightenment" for a musician of her kind- which is reflected in her thoughts, her actions, her persona & what she stands for. What an extraordinary human being to be inspired by & to learn from...

That's right! I love her version of Brahms concerts 1+2. It increases the natural force of everyone listening to.

I have just completed the reading of Helene Grimaud's 3rd book, "Retour à Salem", after I was so lucky to watch and listen to her playing Brahm's piano 1st Concerto recently: such a Personality is exceptional because of her both commitments to the Ecology - especially the Animal Rights and the Music, of course. She contributes to stimulate our need to live as "Human BEINGS and not Human-doings" as she said. She is authentic, admirable and... long life to her!

I also heard her playing both Brahms concerti with Slatkin in Detroit. What they did with the 3rd movement of the 2nd concerto was profoundly moving. An exquisite interpretation and performance. What a gift to see and hear it live.

Enthralling conversation I could listen to Helen talking about music for considerably longer than I could imagine.

Helene's analysis of the non tangible aspects of Brahms music is profound. Being invigorated by the performance of the Concertos seems a necessity due to the energy needed to adequately perform them. Her explanation of overcoming the distance she at first experienced in performing the 2nd concerto resonates with my personal evolution in performing certain pieces. She bridges the gap between cultures in accomplishing the transcendent nature of Brahms' work. Ditto the social and environmental goals. A new friend and ally.

Such an elegant and sophisticated artist. Love the Brahms recordings, Grimaud manages to bring out the many nuances in the music that many musicians miss in the sheer enormity of these works.

A wonderful recording that stands alone but is given even more substance by Helene's intelligent and articulate exposition. And what a generous - and fully deserved - compliment she pays to Andris Nelsons.

Good interview. I thought at the beginning the interviewer would be somewhat inept. I enjoyed many of her questions and her progressions. It was easy to link in to the discussion without being a total afficianado, yet there was scope for lots of novel insights.

The 2nd concerto is brutally difficult. Fierce virtuosic elements throughout the entire piece.eg. Arpeggio scales in the right and left hands in the First movement and double note thirds scales 7 against 6 cross rhythms in the Finale and double note third scales in the right and left hands playing parallel at breakneck tempo.

She is the youngest composer on Earth. She wrote also pieces for symphony when she was age 5. At age 6 she got 3 Awards for composing, her piano play and her talent. Watch her and you will amazed. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y-xbPlBqoOg.html
