I was a Huey Crew Chief for ten years. Of all of my assignments. Being a Med-Evac crew chief was my proudest experiences. Forever in my mind, Huey's will be Life Savers.

I am Italian and I am 68 years old, but I lived through the war in NAM seeing documentaries and magazines and books and my heart was with the Marines, forgive me the other corps; I have always had an interest in the Air Cavalry and I madly love the Huey, which fortunately today I can fly virtually. Kudos to all who have been over there.

I love all of them. Especially the Huey’s. The hard chops from the rotors are like a movie sound like a helicopter chase scene.

My dad was part of the 1109th TASMG out of Groton CT. This is the reason why I like the Huey and the Cobra, Blackhawk, Skycrane and THE DHC-4 Caribou

My passed Uncle flew the UH-1 and the Corbras in Vietnam and he was a Medivac helicopter pilot also and he started at fort Rucker

I actually had someone tell me, "just because there were a lot of them built doesn't make the Huey iconic". I was like bitch, what do you think makes something iconic? I mean you are talking about the first turbine powered helicopter in the US military, and THE helicopter that defined a generation, not just in the US but around the world. Turned she just thought it was a boring helicopter, and I was like, then clearly you haven't done very good research. The reason some people might find them boring is because there are still a LOT of them flying around and they are seen all over the world. They are used by militaries, law enforcement agencies, and civilians the world over, how much more iconic can you get?

lived a few miles from FT rucker these flew over all day doing hot pits at wolf pit and the VOR near by landed in our field a few times broken was always friendly to us and let us climb all around they actually flew in "aircraft monitors" who had to just sit their till repair crews could come,they were always more then happy to talk as it was so boring sitting in a cow field for days sometimes.. lol

Yes,. Each system has it's own distinct sound as well. When I hear helicopters, I can hear the Engine, Main rotor and if they have one the Tail rotor, systems apart from each other. Thanks for your post.

Bukan begitu om ku, kalo kita punya alat transportasi udara kenapa tidak dikeluarkan kemampuan, maksudnya kita juga kapasitasnya, volumenya, kecepatannya berapa mil, suhu kemampuannya, titik sudutnya ruang yg digunakan, keseimbangan diudara. Kita tidak mengejek om ku.kita lihat perbedaan air line dan helicopter nanti kita bisa merasakannya, dimana letak perbedaannya. Begitu om ku.

If your unit got smashed and you could make it to the LZ, you knew the sound of a Air Cav Huey meant you were going home!! Those guys would rescue you no matter how hot the LZ was. They'd save your bacon!!! I owe my life to them several times over!
