Power lines would be bad! Choppers that inspect power lines have special cutting tools on the fuselage so they cut the wires in case they accidentally run into them (and if they are lucky enough to make them cut the line without the chopper-blades striking the wires).

2) But wait...Isn't that complex and has been tried (but unsuccessful). yes, but that was a different concept. The really exiting thing is that my concept is really simple. So-much-so that it could be made with chopper parts (but blades will have to be custom made). All is required is ridged blades, 3 blades and a clutch on rotor for "free spin". That's it! That's all you need! you could convert a Helicycle into a stop-rotor craft. When I get rich enough I'l get a Helicycle and do it.

3) I'l buy the kit and use as many parts as I can and buy a 3-blade rotor-head and get somebody to make the stiff blades (the most expensive part). (Whangy blades will not be any good for stop-rotor). Add a clutch and buy two variable-pitch ul 5-blade props and mount them on each side (similar to the Eurocopter X3) but pusher ducted fans. Then I would build the carbon-fiber wrap-around wings, use the same canopy. and George Jetson style undercarriage. All enclosed rotors!

With a home based helicopter, does one have to contact a local ATC for permission to fly? And, do you have to file a flight path before taking off?

Why do Helicycle owners paint their rotor hubs and linkages? Those things are supposed to be left bare metal because the paint can hide cracks.

And they are cheap! Especially when you consider the turbine. According to the ul guide book (with those tiny little pictures of all the uls around) the Helicycle kit is only $50,000 and you get everything (including the gas-turbine engine). Unbelievable! A "real" gas turbine engine (4 seater heli-turbine) costs $300,000 (just for the engine)!

What is a helicycle? Is it a name, a pedalling aircraft, what it is? It's not in the dictionary, what is this bullshit helicycle? Do you pedal it to fly? All I see is a helicopter, and that's all it is. What's this bullshit helicycle? People are becoming mad these days.
