Helium MOBILE Mining Using iPhone 11 Pro - How Much Rewards I've Earned Through Mapping 12/27/23

I've been mapping with the Helium network for the last week or so and this is exactly how much I've earned in MOBILE rewards.
Referral link for the Helium Cell Network Get $5 credit towards your bill!!! - my.hellohelium...
Using just an iPhone 11 Pro with the Helium network set to the eSIM, while still using my normal service as my primary service, I've been collecting MOBILE rewards for turning on mapping in the settings.
Mapping allows you to collect data about the Helium network that helps the Helium developers figure out coverage area and such.
(Also, I know it's not actually mining anything, it's just rewards for mapping... gotta get those buzz words in there though ;) )

Thanks for the video. I got the indoor hotspot a week ago, then just got my physical helium sim set up as a secondary sim like you this morning. I plan on mapping with my phone then running a bandwidth sharing app from home on my phone that connects to my hotspot, getting rewarded for the same data used twice. We will see how it goes.

nice! Let me know how the indoor hotspot goes for you, I'm assuming it's going to be in a residential home. I haven't pulled the trigger yet cause I didn't know if it would make enough to offset the costs if I just had it in my home.

If you’re speaking in terms of rewards, just be careful. You need to get 5 mapping events in 2 non-consecutive hours to qualify for the rewards for the day. So walking around for many consecutive hours a day won’t qualify you. You’d have to turn off mapping for an hour in between, or stay in one place for one of the hours, before you start mapping again.
@cardanium5790
@cardanium5790 7 месяцев назад
@type2media if so .. I'll try to deliver a street for half hour and take my lunch break for another half hour and keep my phone in the postal truck so that's an hour 😉
@type2media
@type2media 7 месяцев назад
@@cardanium5790 I'm not quite sure that would work. For example, you'd have to work/map 5 events between 8-9am then from 9-10am you would have to be stationary/not mapping for at least an hour, then after the hour is up.. anytime after that, but before the day ends in the app, you'd have to map another 5 events.

You don’t want a 5G miner. You want the new cheaper indoor miner. Helium moved away from 5G for their cell service. The new indoor miners are the only ones that earn MOBILE tokens by strengthening their cell coverage map.
@BabyYoda5555
@BabyYoda5555 7 месяцев назад
I had the 5G miner. Earned exactly the same amount of tokens post launch and post converting my family of 5 to helium mobile service. Just bought the new indoor miner and have earned a steady $25 - $30 a day from it. 10x the base rewards I am getting from the 5G miner.
@BabyYoda5555

Your mileage will vary depending on the number of people that connect. The miner is very omnidirectional. I have it in the living room where we mostly stay.

@@BabyYoda5555 That's awesome... I may have used the wrong terminology when referring to the miners, but appreciate the insight. I was thinking about getting an indoor helium miner, but with just me on the service I don't think the rewards would be worth it... I might try to convince my friend who owns a restaurant to let me put one in her space, since there would be more slower foot traffic.

the rewards are always going to be the same for everyone. It doesn't matter if you get 10 mapping events or 600 mapping events. The rewards are equally split between all subscribers that meet the minimum mapping requirements.

@type2media 7 месяцев назад
If you get the outdoor hotspot it’ll definitely have more range than the indoor one, so that’s probably your best bet. I’m still trying to learn a bit more about the helium mobile hotspots before I buy one. I have a friend that is opening a restaurant next month, I may try to convince her to let me hook up and indoor one there.
@IndianaDiy
@IndianaDiy 7 месяцев назад
@@type2media Yeah, same here still learning about the hot spots. But Depending on how much the outdoor one costs I may get one. We have several stores and gas station next to highway near house so busy 24/7 but more chances to earn. Plus we just had Fiber installed at our home office and no data caps so perfect for IoT, and several hotspots. I’m setting up some special networking equipment separate from my main network for safety purposes and I’m using my Ledger linked to helium wallet for extra safety. I also found the heavy duty wiring, surge protection, and 15db antenna for Bobcat miner, so total investment might be about $800 also found 12db directional antenna and That might be able to reach miners close or in Chicago from where I live in Indiana.

How to add eSIM to your current carrier? Do you have to call the current carrier?
@type2media
@type2media 7 месяцев назад
If you want to keep your current carrier, download the Helium Mobile app and follow the instructions for adding a new number, NOT porting your number. If you port your number to Helium it will cancel your current service. So if you want to keep your current service and add a line on Helium, DO NOT PORT YOUR NUMBER. Once you start the process it'll ask you if you want to do eSIM or SIM, and you would select eSIM and then the app walks you through the instructions.

can you explain the use case difference between the HNT miners such as Bobcat and the HeliumMobile miners? I get the Helium mobile miners provide network coverage for phones that connect. But what does the bobcat miner provide coverage for? What devices?
@type2media
@type2media 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for the comment. So the Mobile Miners/Hotspots that Helium is selling provide coverage for their 5G cell phone network, just as you said. The Bobcat 300 and traditional Helium Miners (that give rewards in IOT) are for their Internet of Things network. There are IoT devices available that use the helium network for their network connectivity. You can read more about those devices and stuff here - docs.helium.com/iot/devices/ - Hope that helps!

@type2media
@type2media 7 месяцев назад
@@Catsonwheelz so the rewards don't really work like that. As long as you hit the requirements for the rewards, all subscribers that are mapping will get the same amount of rewards. So it doesn't matter if you get 10 mapping events in a day or 600, you'll still get the same amount of MOBILE rewards as everyone else. And unfortunately you can't just sit at home and get rewards, you have to have at least 5 mapping events in 2 non-consecutive hours in a 24 hour period in order to qualify for the rewards for that day. So for instance, if you got 5 mapping events between 1-2pm, you would have to get 0 mapping events from 2-3pm and then 5 more mapping events between 3-4 (or any hour after that initial 1-2) It's a little confusing, but it's to help prevent people from just trying to farm mobile rewards. I've had no problem getting my rewards just from running out and doing my errands, picking up the kids, picking up lunch, etc. during the day as I normally would. The only times I haven't gotten rewards over the last week or so is when I literally did not leave the house all day.

If I have a mobile hotspot and don’t want to pay $20 a month can I still earn rewards from the hotspot running.
@type2media
@type2media 7 месяцев назад
The way I understand it is you get rewards based on Helium Mobile subscribers connecting to your Helium Mobile Hotspot and transfering data through it. So if you're putting it in your home and nobody in your home is utilizing the helium network, it may not be giving you rewards. I'm not totally sure how the Helium Mobile Miners/Hotspots work in terms of rewards, but that's my basic understanding of it. The more people connecting and the more data transfered through it, the more rewards.

@type2media
@type2media 6 месяцев назад
Shouldn't be any security concern connecting to a stranger's hot spot, no. As for converting MOBILE to cash, that's a great question and I'll make a video about it. But in the meantime, you'll need to transfer MOBILE to the Helium Black Wallet App (which is in the app store) then, if you can find an exchange that has MOBILE listed (like KuCoin), you'll have to send it there and then sell it for your local currency and then have the exchange send it out to your bank. I can't use KuCoin in the US, so what I would do is send the MOBILE to the helium black wallet app, then convert it to SOL, send the SOL to coinbase, and then convert it/sell it for USD on coinbase, and have coinbase send it out to my bank. It's an annoying process, I know. If you're using the mapping on the helium mobile network on your phone to get rewards, you can also just use the MOBILE tokens to pay for your bill each month instead of converting it and sending to your bank account.
@type2media
@type2media 6 месяцев назад
I actually just read that Coinbase is adding MOBILE today, so you should just be able to send your MOBILE tokens straight to Coinbase and sell/convert them and push them out to your bank account that way... much easier.

@type2media

That's been my experience so far. Since Helium Mobile is backed by T-Mobile (when you're unable to connect directly to the Helium Network) I would expect similar reception and signal strength as with T-Moble... I'm still not brave enough to have Helium Mobile as my sole mobile provider just quite yet though, but definitely loving the rewards so far.
