Aw man I had to find this video to know how to connect my Line 6 POD Go. I saw that I needed 1/4" to XLR cables, but did I need two? Where do they go? I didn't even think about the fact that they would need to be panned Left and Right. This cleared it up. May want to do something like this for the POD Go as well for those (like me) who didn't know. Thanks!
I dont still understand how you can select "line level" in the mixing console using an XLR cable. When you run an XLR to a mic preamp,it raises the gain because the channel is expecting a mic level signal. SO HOW you set up a line level in a mic preamp input ????????????
does the signal to noise ratio get better when I adjust the gain on the mixing console? Is it necessary to put the gain of the mixing console higher than the lowest settings anyway? Meaning, should I try to avoid increasing the gain knob, and instead regulate everything with the fader on the helix and on the mixing console?
Guys one question - to me the helix XLR (Mic) although quieter has a lot better tonal quality in my in ear than using the 1.4'' out (Line). I'm using a regular gutiar cable to connect the 1.4'' out to the mixing console. The XLR (Mic) sounds like it's studio quality where the Line level sounds harsher, raspier and overall less nice. Hope someone figured it out, or maybe it's normal, I don't know. I'm asking cause I'd like to send mic level signal using the XLR out to FOH and still use the second XLR to our mixing console but I'm not sure if in both cases it should be Line level signal cause the Mic just sounds better :(
Thanks for the tutorial! So... If I play live, what is the best way for me and my band listen to the guitar? with speakers coming directly from the mixer?
I have two major issues: 1) I loose most dynamics in Volume levels. If I play soft/hard doesnt really matter. The PA either blows everything away or im not loud enough. No compressor used. 2) Massive humming. I use a Noise Gate, a tubescreamer and an pre amp-cabinet modelling path. On higher gain levels the humming is manageable on heaphones and home studio monitors. But its unbearable in reheasal levels of loudness. I cannot crank the noisegate further as it kills soft notes and sustain. Anyone experience or possible solutions?
How do you connect to both a FOH mixer and FRFR monitor? My frfr has only XLR input so I connect Helix's XLR output to it. Should I use the 1/4" output for mixing console then?
Use a 1/4” mono cable from of the Helix 1/4” output jack. Run that cable into 1/4” jack on the mixer. Phantom power only works using xlr jacks and cables.
