I’m usually around 80

Pretty sure the average ping is around 50 to 80. I can tell you from experience, playing consistently at 180+ ping is quite interesting.

It's insanely hard, i only managed to get it to be a sniper once and had a blast. It seems it all comes down to the loading times and who ceates the squad first.

That's because the Recon Squad lead is the Spotter. The Sniper's the second guy in the team.

And since Recon is a 2-man team, if you leave as Spotter, there's either a Sniper in the squad (meaning the only spot that's open is the Spotter) or, if the squad's empty, you immediately get into the Spotter role upon re-entering. Only way to switch from Spotter to Sniper is to leave the squad, have your Sniper take over as Spotter, and re-enter the Recon Squad. Which, with most random players, won't happen because MUH SCOPE.

@@agp11001 well it is a good mechanic, lot of players that just want to shoot would lock their squad and play solo as a sniper doing literlly nothing for their team.

@@NeFjuS Oh, I agree it is a good mechanic. Although it sucks if your spotter disconnects or leaves, somebody else can come in and kick you.

Man, HLLs gameplay with Post Scriptum's vehicles, shooting and sound? That would be heaven. If we can't have all, I'd take zeroing and sounds, please.

And yes, spotting is key in this game. Hitting a target is an easy second place. It seems that a zoomed scoped sniper rifle is totally OP

You're watching one of two snipers in a 50 man team, doing mostly mid-range work (most of the kills are probably at 200m, max) - when you can reach way further out. My own record (pinged distance) so far is a 498 meter headshot, although on a stationary target on Kursk. And that was more luck than skill, I was going for a Hail Mary body shot. If he'd be in close combat more often, he wouldn't be doing his job right. Most close combat moments for a sniper are about cleaning enemy gunners out of a favorable sniper spot.

In general you shouldn't even be focusing solely on kills as a recon in HLL anyway. That's an infantry job unless the target poses an immediate threat to you or a friendly unit. Concealment and obscuring your position is how you dismantle garrisons and ACTUALLY win fights. Your job is reconnaissance, not frontline infantry. Mark garrisons, mark outposts, mark tanks. Thats how you win. I hate recons that just think getting sniper kills is the win. One of the games I played spotter I barely shot anyone and I destroyed like 9 garrisons, some odd number of outposts, and laid down friendly garrisons as many as I destroyed. My outpost never got destroyed. Surprise, surprise, it was a win. But hey, play to your heart's content. I like contributing to the team big picture, some people just want to shoot shit.
