If you grew up in the 1980's and rode bmx you knew about the movie "RAD". It was the first major film that highlighted bmx riding. It was all about the underdog who never was given a chance to compete that had to earn his way to ride against the best in the world. I didn't grow up in the 80's that was way before my time but I used to watch the movie all the time growing up, The story line and everything about the movie really would give you hope to one day have the chance to prove yourself and show the world that you dont need a big corporate sponsor and that they control all the major contest (or races). So when I found out a year ago they were going to be building the actual track from the movie and having a race there was no way I would miss out on going. This race was the whole point of Wook Fools 2.
This race was kind of a joke at first but once it all came to reality it was kind of a trip. Going into this trip I had no sponsors helping me with any travel or expenses (besides Epicbmx lending us the van). This was all out of my own pocket and the other van members. We are the underdogs of bmx. Nobody ever gives us invites to contest, we travel around spending the least amount of money, sleeping in parks, showering in bodies of water, saving a dollar on anything we could just to make it this far. So just making it to Hell Track was an accomplishment of its own. If you haven't watched the movie Rad I highly recommend it because it didn't seem real how this all played out...
