To everyone's surprise, Eddie Fiola and Martin Aparijo recreate the famous "bicycle boogie" dance scene from Rad after the 2nd film screening at the Uptown Theatre on 8/19/11.
My dad did this when he was younger, I'm 20 now and bought my first BMX Bike myself. I have put almost 300+ USD into it just for some parts where I can do Flatland, I have gotten this one trick down, ⅔ of the way at least, I just need my gyro to complete the trick 😂
nice i am one year older than you and i love rad. i make tons of of bmx videos still every week and do tons of tricks in my flatland videos and i did a fun rad tribute video today and i have done others. i love it. i wore a rad tshirt my brother got me in my video i made today. if you love rad you would like it i bet.
This movie was the best back in the day. We would watch it, and then go out and try to do the same tricks. I forced my 3 kids to watch it a couple years ago on Father's Day, and they actually loved it!
I freaking loved this! I was 16 when this movie came out and it blew me away. Kids today don't realize how cush their lives are compared to when I was a teen. So when a movie came out like this for us to see. It was epic! I so want Rad to be on a DVD!
For some of us 40somethings, the memory of watching RAD as a kid brings back the wonder of growing up. Which makes watching this clip today weirdly emotional.
I met most of these guy in 87 at the a.f.a.in Galveston tx. The are the coolest guys on the planet. I was 17 now I'm 54 and still here from some of these guys!!! I want too say thank you for my bmx life!!!
It brought My to tears these Guys where are Rock stars nothing like these two Legends I freakin hate getting old I have done great shit in My life but hands down I Respect ✊ these Guys ..!!!
The RAD BMX freestyle movement continues in South Bend, Indiana, at a training indoor park called The Kitchen BMX Skatepark. It is an incredible indoor BMX dream with 33,000 plus square feet area of ramps, jumps, and foam pit to practice extreme aerials and flips. You have to go there and see it to believe it. This movie inspired thousands into the sport and it is a 2020 Olympic event in Japan now.
That intro to the movie with break the ice song was my favorite part of the movie , I still love that song , to me it’s one of the best intros into a 80s great !
What ICONS! Love and miss this era so much! In the process of building a bike now! Can’t wait to break my neck trying the tricks I pulled off when I was a kid! 🤣🤣 Just keep the song playing .... just keep it playing.....
Awesome. I was 12 in 89 I was an awesome freestyler at a young age. Hrs upon hrs of practicing every day. BMX crazy.🤣 Can’t believe I’d never heard of the movie.🤔 On the watch list now.🤣 Used to do all these freestyle move’s on My custom built completely all white, Haro Master Freestyler. Including white tires & skyway wheel’s. Cost around a grand. Fitted with all top components. Wish I had of kept it.! Is that Eddie Fiola.? Best freestyler ever.!
Kudos to Martin & Eddie- SOOOO many ppl don't hang onto the skills & things they did in the past, & turn into old people. Great that as we get older we can still show off the old school. Tricks are so much harder when the body gets old lol
This is one of the rad'est things I've ever seen and the crowd is going nuts - just like they should be and you can see that the dudes (Eddie & Martin) love it! I wish l could have been here for this. I would have been the dude with tears of joy streaming down my face!!! 43 years old in 2Ol8 and still HUGE into bmx.
Capturing this anniversary Boogie for my eyes is one of the greatest things the internet has ever given me. Fucking watch the hell out of this movie back in the day with my rad friends. This, and Thrashin'.
Very cool that they are still into it.I never got to know Eddie Fiola very well at all but he always was one of my all time favorite ramp riders when I competed in Nationals watching the pro division on my breaks. Martin Aparijo both on a personal and compettitons however I got to know very well and I am actually trying to reach him in regards to my childhood best friend growing up who lived in my neighborhood (Martins team mate Billy Swoop (MCS then sponsored by GT who competed against Skyways Scotty Freeman, Mongooses Trevor Hernandez and Matt Hoffman when they were growing up in the sport in the expert class. Last I heard, Billy went into the Military when I went through the Forestry Academy and I lost contact with Billy. It was kinda comical but when Martin Aparijo was in his prime in the pro division, many times he came and stayed days at Billys house in which I was honored to go spend many nights practicing with them and sharing meals daily together in Platantaion and Sunrise Florida. Martin though 23 or 24 at the time , Billy and I were practicing after teen curfew and Sunrise Police department stopped us and ordered all of us to go back home. As much as Martin tried explaining that he was not a teen, the cop did not believe him being so tiny for his age lolol. Anyways, If anyone here knows Martin and has a way to contact him, he will know instantly who I am after you tell him this story. Or if anyone knows where Billy Swoop is today, please have him inbox me on youtube and please give me his information. It is great that Martin and Eddie still practices together. I wonder if R.L Osborn (Robert Louis Osborn from Redline) still does or Josh White (Martin and Billys other team mate from GT). . Dennis McCoy from Haro as well. All these guys are great people, great riders with outstanding morals and personalities. I miss the sport myself and though much older, I can still flatland but limited due to some pending medical issues Mainly curios on Billy Swoop if anyone has contact info please.
I kinda would have liked to see that with the introduction or ending music. Thats the music that immediately pulled me in. This part of the movie ny buddy and i would always fast forward. But..... this was definitely great to watch
it's been way to long. What can we do to bring this back? I look at the 80's to being the best 10 years of my life. Rad was definitely a favourite for my friends and I. Thanks for sharing!
me too. i am 39 and saw this at 15 and now got bmx tattoo on my arm. i still ride bmx. had many haro. i still make tons of bmx videos doing these old school tricks. i put all my bmx vids on a playlist on my channel. i ride skateparks but mainly flatland old school. peace. bmx for life. rad changed my life. my new vid is called bmx time traveler
Totally agree. Back then the bikes were multi-colored and each rider had their own unique dress and style and now everybody's bike is matte black and they dress grunge. It's like BMX clones. The only thing that differentiates riders now is their tricks.
not bad, Guys you should hit-up that called "80's BMXShop" page on facebook for your Old school BMX needs. They been shipping world Wide since 2009 & they $buy/$sell/Trade year round..
Unreal. I think RAD was the only movie that I watched more than Top Gun as a kid. Just watched it for the first time in probably 20 years and knew every word line for line. LOL
I loved that movie as well! I also remember watching a break dancing movie with a character named bazooka, can't recall the name...that movie, top gun, GI Joe and Karate Kid
*I Miss 1986-90 SO PHUCKING MUCH!* REAL Mall Arcade's w/Pizza, the Music #Cinderella, my ButterFly Knife, All my OP clothes. Man... Tom Cruise here in the RedTee KICKED ASS!
These guys's performance moved me to tears. Reminded me of the time when I had seen the film RAD and how the film inspired me to pick up a BMX and try out all the stunts. The movie still plays on my mind and reminds of my childhood. Those were the days when having a BMX bike was the greatest thing on the world. All in all an awesome performance.
Goose bumps! Im 42 and still loving bmx because of you guys. Long live RAD! I love you guys! To the cast and crew who made this film. I love you! Keep safe and stay healthy.
i know right. these guys inspired me to be a bmxer. and i am 46 and still throwing tailwhips and more. i made a rad tribute video on my page and the official rad movie fb featured it. i redid the intro to rad with the music doing all kinds of old tricks. these guys inspired me.
