Hellboy Review with Bryan 

I’m a massive Mignola/Hellboy fan, but I was on the fence with this one for a while. Eventually I broke down and bought all the KS content, but I don’t normally go for IPs. Just couldn’t resist the opportunity to interact with Mignola’s incredible artwork in this way. Thanks for the great review!

This is one of my favourite games, especially as a Hellboy fan. If I had one criticism - and it's something that's sadly not exclusive to this game - is that you really should go for the KS edition or just skip it entirely as the retail version is just missing soooooooo much content compared to the KS version.

9 out of 10 for me. I have all the expansions except for the darkness calls expansion and the other ones they haven't released yet.

I have everything released so far for the game, except Darkness Calls and some promotional miniatures. Things I don't like about it: 1- base game lacks content. You have 4 playable characters, 6 adventures and 7 enemies, and for of the enemies are just variations of the same one, so you kinda have just 4 enemies. 2- expansions were always hard to find and very expensive. 3- it lacks flavor texts. There's no background on the characters (although there's a big blank space on the back of their cards), there are very few words about the events that happen during the case, there's no text about the clues you find during the exploration and there's no narrative conclusion for the case files, you just die/win and that's it. 4- no campaign mode. You have more than 20 case files considering all expansions, but no campaign, all of them are played individually. 5- few mechanics. You're basically fighting the whole game and that's it. It has some search mechanic to find clues, but the clues just make you fight best. The exploration is just " I go there" and the room is filled with enemies. If it had more flavor texts and a campaign system, it would probably be my favorite board game. As it is now, IMO the base game is a 6.5 (solid, but forgettable) and with the expansions it is an 8.

Favorite game based on a comic book IP: Mind MGMT. 2. Batman TAS: Shadow of the Bat 3. Marvel Champions Hellboy is a really fun game though.

I think they did a great job on refining the silver tower engine . This is a nice ip built on a solid and refined system . I do wish it was a bit more challenging.

Marvel Champions followed by Legendary: Marvel and finally Batman: The Animated Series- Shadow of the Bat.

Sounds like a dungeon crawl. Lol

I need to play some Marvel games. But the Marvel movies ruined Marvel for me.
