Two more things for the Springfield: The ability to maintain irons when adding a red dot and the standard 1913 (non-proprietary) rail may give it the edge, in my opinion.
P365 can be swapped into a smaller frame, alloy frame, Wilson Combat Polymer frame. As for maintaining your back up irons I feel like it is unlikely that you get a red dot and don't confirm function before leaving the house, additionally you should be able to make hits without irons inside of 25 yards if you train properly...there is a method of shooting that will let you punch a fist size hole consistently without any sights, you GBRS covers it.
@@Osprey1994 Most people don't even touch the back straps on their pistols let alone a whole frame. On a carry/duty gun having backup irons is a deal breaker for me. God forbid I get in a gunfight and red dot goes out and have to rely on a crude aiming system. Thankfully many red dots come with a notch milled into the rear so that alleviates that issue somewhat.
Can not stand people who review two guns and never put them together for comparison stop wasting my time took like like 10 videos to finally land on this one
Thank you Chris; it seems like it’s been a while since you’ve done a comparison. Busy man. I’ve chosen the 365xl with Romeo optic, having first bought a regular 365 when they came out. I’m also a Sig guy, since I have a 220, 226, and 229 Legions. I carry the 365xl in summer and the 229 in winter. Otherwise I’m a 1911 user, Springfield TRPs and Nighthawks. I like quality and see no reason to skimp when it comes to guns. The 365 is the only striker fired gun I own; I much prefer a metal hammer fired gun. I don’t much like the split trigger, I prefer the thumb safety. Best Regards sir. I appreciate your efforts.
I own a west German 220 a 226 and 229 , im looking at a Hellcat ? Or a 356 I haven't decided..I carry a 43x mos or a 43 plus 3 and a Glock 19 or 19x or a 17
Keeping the rear sight with a red dot and the ability to use whatever light I want, along with the added texture on the hellcat frame. Those are the reasons that I traded in my 365xl for the hellcat pro.
I traded my 365 with a Wilson Combat grip frame for a Hellcat Pro today. I tried to take my slide off my P365 to re lubricate and the slide wouldn’t come forward. I read a few forums and came to find out I had put my guide rod in backwards. The fact Sig makes a gun you can reassemble wrong is a problem in itself. The gunsmith I took it to had to remove the backplate and take out the striker assembly to get the slide off. That was the final straw with the P365 for me. Also the mags tend to rust from sweat when daily carrying especially here in FL. Add in all the reliability issues going around and I I just can’t trust the 365 with my life anymore. It’s a shame cause I still love my P320 and have never had any issues with it after 3K+ rounds no malfunctions whatsoever
I always laugh when I’m trying to decide between a few firearms…an I watch reviews of people comparing the firearms by the magazine capacity, then I start to cry, mostly because I live in a “you don’t need more then 10 rounds” state lmao
Chris: VERY well done video!! A comprehensive comparison, and I especially liked the format of apples to apples. Went into a gun shop last week and looked at both guns, and you're spot on about the trigger of the 365XL... it is sweet! Since I don't need the extra 3 rounds, the 365XL is the one for me, YMMV. Thanks for a great video.
I looked at both of these for concealed carry and like you said, they are very similar. I'm having a hard time deciding but this video is quite literally the BEST I've found on these two pieces. I liked the "feel" of the Sig and the trigger, but I love the capacity, sights and the look of the Hellcat Pro. Jury's still out on which to get. Thanks for this awesome review!
One thing that goes unnoticed about the SIG. The part of the grip that prints is the back. The SIG being slanted back makes it print less, even though at their longest points they’re the same length.
I think that the Springfield Hellcat Pro looks better than the Sig Sauer but I'd rather have the better, more crisp trigger that the Sig offers. 2 great Firearms 💪
@jimdavis9275 how is the PC shield coming along? Would you recommend? Looking at that, vs regular shield plus vs hellcat pro. Haven’t been able to try the Pc, but intrigued due to less recoil.
The P365XL wins for me because of the MAGGUTS +2 kit, which makes the 12 round mags into 14 round mags WITHOUT even adding 1/8 of an inch in length to the grip. The contour of the grip on the Hellcat extends out away from the body more than the XL does, and being a smaller guy that is a significant issue for me. I already had the XL when the Hellcat came out. The Hellcat got my attention, but within a couple minutes I realized there was no reason to change.
I finally got a good deal on my Hellcat and traded it for the Hellcat Pro. I am so glad I did. I like the trigger much better and the extra length of the barrel will help with more accurate shots. I ordered a Swampfox Green Dot iptic for it and am buying some rounds to git the range with and zero it in. Thanks for your videos and help.
Hey how do you like the swamp fox sentinel? I just upgraded my hellcat osp to the pro the other day and took it to the range today. It shoots a lot better without all the recoil. I’m torn between all the red dots that still give some cowitness with iron sights.
@@jackripper6033 I have the swampfox sentinel green dot on my Hellcat Pro and love it. My 25 yard groupings are much tighter now. As far as cowitnessing, the rear and front sights are just barely visible but enough that you could still use them to aim if the battery runs out.
I own both the HC Pro and HC compact. The Pro’s grip marginally thicker than compact (w/extended mag) - feels very comfortable w/beavertail and grip angle. Pro 3rd gen trigger less creep than compact - little spongy. Sig feels like it was made for me. Improved Sig Trigger has creep but solid break. Sig weighs same as HC Pro. I chose the Pro for the extra capacity. I added PRP trigger kit that transformed the trigger w/less pull effort, less creep, nice break. Recommend a trigger kit for most guns. Would have added kit to 36 XL. I own Sig piston rifles & suppressor - love them. Got Sig 365 (380) for mom’s small hands. She’s picky- loves it and so do I. 👍 Good review. Sub’d
The Hellcat feels much better in my hands. Also, the guide rod is intentionally extended and textured to help keep the pistol from going out of battery, if pressed against your target in a "he's right on top of me" situation. And, I know this is not typical, but I had the worst customer service experience EVER with Sig recently, and I'll NEVER buy a Sig again!
I own and have run both extensively. Both have Holosun 507 K2s. I run both with 15 rd mags exclusively. I ran the 365 in several USPSA matches and the EDC Championship. I did add a Wilson Combat module(recommended). It IS a magnificent gun for it's size and it unbelievably shootable and accurate(landed 2 rds of 5 on a mini USPSA steel at 75 yds at Sig). Stock trigger is long but excellent. On the other hand, the Hellcat(I own both sizes) is a very comfortable and has excellent natural pointing as far as almost automatically aligning the sights when you bring it up. It is also very accurate, reliable and shootable. Stock trigger? Suuuuuxx! It is waaay too heavy but crisp and it is, as far as I can see, the only drawback on the gun. It also seems to fit my glock 19 holsters. Go figure. I am going to install an MCARBO kit in it and we'll see. Just my 2 cents.
@@danwake4431 Best 60 bucks I've spent. Dropped the "New York" weight trigger to around 4 1/4lbs from the ridiculous 7+. MUCH better. That was the only beef I had with the pistol. As far as my opinion? It is damn close if not THE best CC pistol. The 365XL and the pro would have to duke it out. Only thing that might edge the Sig is that you DO have the option of shrinking the grip signature with the 12 rd mags.
@@lwilson1234 thanks for the reply. I daily a 380 bersa thunder CC in summer and an XDS 4 inch when clothes allow it. Neither has been modified. While they are both flawless I’m bored with them and would like to switch it up. So I’m leaning towards the hellcat for my “little” carry and a cz P01 for my big carry in winter clothes. I appreciate the review.
@@lwilson1234 Good post. I added PRP trigger kit, wow what a difference. Bye-bye “NY” trigger. Less creep, no sponginess. Agree, the 365 grip felt better. 12 vs 15. Both accurate. I still love my compact HC grip (w/xtnd mags) & Pro shoots any ammo. And I love the Sig - too many great guns.
Hellcat. I just got my Holosun installed. Like ergos on this guy better than the Sig (and I am in general, a Sig fan boy). Had real trouble with loading the Sig mags and had a few stovepipes on the Sig. Frustrating and disappointed in the Sig.
@@your_royal_highness Otherwise you have to remove the rear tabs and shorten the front tabs, on the optics cut out, to make it work. Now that I know C&H has a plate for it, I have a decision to make. Thanks for the info.
Great video, totally relevant as these two go head to head. I could sing the praises of the Pro but you know now. Cycles flawlessly (always use brass cased ammo). Wifey shoots it better than me too. HCP is a bargain.
When your pulling the trigger for self defense creep isn't an issue. They also make an Apex trigger for the Hellcat. I love both gun's. I went with the Hellcat. Apex makes some good upgrade parts as well. Nothing wrong with the 365x. Both good!
Lots of great comments. I went with the pro. One thing not mentioned is I feel Springfield has the edge on the finish of the gun itself. Sig has gone down hill quite a bit in the past few years.
Agree. Sig redesigned/exchanged the bolt on my new MCX 1st gen. They keep changing the MCX retiring previous models thus parts became scarce. The initial release of the 365 had many issues since resolved. Sig customers concur that Sig seems to release products using customer base for product development negating some QC.
I have a Sig 365 XL and love it..If you cannot be on target with 12 rds , 3 more extra rds is not going to matter. You better run away!! I just got a Wilson combat grip module for mine...
Glad I found this video been looking at a new carry gun and I'm going with he hellcat pro now. I've been Conceal carrying a full size hk for about 3 years now. I'm definitely ready for a bit of a smaller profile for overhaul comfort.
P365X: 17 round Macro mag ...7/8" longer than flush fit 12 round mag. With the MagGuts spring, you can have 14 rounds flush fit in the 12 round mag. I also run a MRDS and am able to co-witness with my iron sights. I feel these new options peg the decision needle to the P365X. They do make a 1913 rail adapter, but if you run the TLR -7sub, you don't need anything.
I don't feel like their is enough difference between either pistol to say which ones better. I guess the 3 round extra could be a deal breaker for someone. Either way if you train with them you will be effective so I guess it comes down to style and price.
Both companies known for high quality products, but both companies have had issues recently, SIG with the P365 and P320, Springfield has had customer relationship issues as well. SIG stumbled with the P365 release, but did resolve the issues, which is why a bought one after a year's worth of production and it's been flawless. I have handled the Hellcat, but not fired it, and it seems like a quality firearm also. I am not a Springfield fan, and happy with the P365, but if given a Hellcat I would keep it. Both companies need to step up their customer relations game quite a bit to compete with Ruger.
Thw "both jave accesory rails" statemwnt is missing context. One has an accessory rail that most of our accessories for all our other firearms can be used..one has a proprietary rail that you can only use proprietary accessories on.
I do like the Springfield but I still choose SIG all day long as they make one to one quality airsoft and pellet gun that allow cheap practice and force on force with same light laser in same holster as "real" gun
I've had both, but just liked the size and capacity of the Hellcat Pro a smidge better. So I just traded my P365 XL for a FDE Hellcat Pro. My black Hellcat Pro thinks I bought it as a tan buddy, but the black one's going in the car glove box and the FDE stays in the house😋
For the love of god, please don’t keep a firearm in the glovebox in your car. This is how bad guys get guns. That is the #1 item and place they will look. CARRY THE GUN ON YOU! Not in your car. At least put a Hi Point in your glovebox so the criminals gun will jam. It’s only a matter of time before it’s stolen.
I hv converted my 12-rd XL mag to a 14-rd and hv had no problems with it, also my XL he as a manual thumb safety which means a lot to me, it's Sig all the way for me 🇺🇸
Just know springfield customer service sucks. And you can't get any stock parts as replacement. I tried getting the gen 2 trigger from springfield and they totally ignored me. The gen 1 was clearly flawed and they didn't want to acknowledge it. I was willing to buy the gen 2 trigger too. Sig on the other hand, can any any parts and even interchangeable. Fuck springfield .
I must have got the lemon Hellcat. 9 lbs trigger pull & it's rough & gritty. HATE the trigger. Only got it for my wife ( weak hands) & she can't pull it at all. She likes the Taurus G2 C. It's got a GREAT trigger & EZ for her to control. Waiting for the Hellcat trigger upgrade kit. 2.5 & 3.5 adjustable. For me, the Hellcat shoots great except for the sucks the butt out of a skunk trigger.
Your trigger sounds like it’s unusually off. Get a trigger kit - issue resolved. I drop triggers into almost every gun I own including my HC Pro. It’s awesome now.
@@georgiafan6618 , Did, powder river kit. 3.5 & smoooooth. Shorter stroke & quicker reset. Used the blue spring. Polished the new sear & transfer bar too. Now it's what it SHOULD have been to begin with. Had a Taurus PT 111??, Terrible trigger. My gunsmith took it apart, dropped the metal parts into a vibratory tumbler with ceramic B.B.s while we had coffee ( about 20 mins) & reassembled it. All those parts had been ball peened polished, edges rounded, glass smooth. Entirely different unit afterwards. 1000% improvement. Such a small step in the factory's would make such radically better product right from the get go. Wouldn't NEED upgrading. One would think the " geniuses " who design these things would figure out rounded/ smooth beats square/ rough anyday. Probably too much COMMON SENCE..
Great video, I have been looking at these 2 guns the last few weeks and couldn't decide which one I wanted..but I have made up my mind now and it will be hellcat pro .
I do think the the hellcat pros dimensions are a little bit deceptive, I have the I have found it to be just a baby’s breath shorter in height to a Glock 43x not the 4.8 advertised more like a 5 in or even 5.02, I’m curious to see if anyone else notices this, either way great gun I love mine
The reason the sig has 12 and hellcat is 15 is because the sig has the slant on the bottom of the mag to help with printing hellcat prints a little more
Have a Glock 27 with a plus 2 pinky extension, very similar to the sig as far as the angle moved up to glock 23 mag 13 round and almost difference in printing I can’t tell at all
Aftermarket options for 14+1 on the 365. Frame size can be mod on 365. 3ray 3 does have tritium insert as well. Pro is slightly larger and more blocky. Does win in capacity, iron sight retention, rear sight contrast, 1913 rail, overall cost, and mag cost. But the 365 modularity beats the hellcat. They are both excellent. I have held both and my hands like the 365 platform better. The xl also offers manual safety, hellcat pro does not. You can’t lose with either model. I’m planning for the xl or the new macro.
500 and change for a 12 to 15 semi auto?, Reminds me of something I read way back when: 5 round, .38 Special compact revolvers are perfectly ok for self defence because that's over with less than 5 shots fired. PS: I'm feeling old. 😕
