Helldivers 2 Giving Us Something Different! Our Questions Are Answered! 

Tinfoil hat time! The orbital illumination flare was referenced in the hellbot audio that leaked a while ago. There was an iteration of the hellbot in Helldivers 1. The current major order is to hold a planet while assets from the first galactic war are being recovered. We’re potentially getting a hellbot (and the illumination flare with it) after this major order The hellbot might not be the only thing we’re recovering from X45

Still haven't fixed the issue of getting stuck in the pod when going into a mission, had this twice in 4 games.

I don't think even 80% of the bugs are in the client side, everything screams a spaghetti backend codebase (wich means bad server code, specifically the part that handles all player related stuff)

I must say, i have not get any freezes or issues for a while now. Still love the game, its a nice time with friends.

The orbital illumination flare appeared in Strategem Hero about a week ago, I just had no idea what it was gonna do.

one reason why pc performance can be a bit of a nightmare at times is because unlike in the console market, where every unit of the same model have the same components inside of them, meaning you need to optimise with only those specifications in mind, where as on the pc side people's part configurations can vary wildly from one player to another

Its really hard to try to follow HD2 news and updates when its still in a state that when i quit the game through either the in game "quit game" button or alt F4, it hard crashes my computer requiring a hard restart sometimes. I have to manually end the program to have any hope of using my computer after. How does this even happen? Lol

I am not sure how AH start cleaning things up; they announce x patch will fix things and several other issues arise or the core issue is just not fixed. I am not sure how they handle things internally, but they either need a better Q&A testing environment or they need external people (under NDA) to help starting testing, as faith in Arrowhead's word is in serious question at this point, when it comes to patches or dialog concerning upcoming fixes. The fact the Known Issues list keeps getting longer and still have things since launch is a bit embarrassing if you are a Dev.

This game is a ton of fun... if you're not demanding the game be what YOU want, instead of the games the developers are making for us to play.

Crazy CPU/GPU spikes are killing it for mw right now. Didn't happen a couple weeks ago. Started on forest biome, but happens now on multiple planet types.

The Orbital Illumination Flare would be a great addition to the arsenal although I kinda doubt that it'll take off enemies off your tail when they're aggroed into you or your teammates. I'm thinking it can lure them if they aren't aggroed so before clearing an objectives you can lure them towarda an area just like how the crossbow or the grenade can lure them. But if it does take some off your tail even though they're aggroed onto you, then that'd be great too

Yea I’ve definitely seen the illumination flare strat on stratagem hero.

HMG sights are STILL upside-down 3 MONTHS after it was added. this is no "bore axis" issue, the red-dot is literally above the mid-point by the same amount the bullet fires below the mid-point of the sight -picture, IF it was bore-axis the bullet would fire low, raise itself at a certain distance to meet the cross-hair/red-dot EXACTLY then continue to fall back down or keep flying high (depending on projectile angle/velocity/range) according to the range the armorer (helldivers is this is a milliotary of sorts) set the sights for.

im on ps5 and my social system is all messed up. i cant see when half of my friends are on but they can see im on. some of my friends i can see are on can’t see people i can see that are on. a few of my friends names don’t show up i have a empty boxs where their name would be so when i send them invite or join them i don’t even know who it is until we join up. i cant add any new friends “i only have 31 friends so not maxed out” people that send me friend request i cant accept. is this being worked on or anyone else having these issues?

I love the determination i get when i'm across the map trying to finish that one last objective knowing im gonna get left behind because the rest of my team is already calling in the extraction. This game is awesome

I'm down to try out the flare. I have used sounds to lure enemies away.

As a veteran of the first Galactic campaign, this was a constant problem in the first game, Everytime we got something the old bugs would return, and there was a constant rollout of patches afterwards....rinse and repeat.

The lore and gameplay reflects the dev team's attitude pretty well, imo.

Helldivers 2 is more than a performance issue.. its bugs from day 1 still not fixed.

Flare + targeted mortars are going to break HD difficulty.

Is it me or did they nerf the quasar cannon?I swear I use to one shot chargers aimed toward the head but it’s been taking 3 or 4 shots

I don;t think orbital illumination flare will be a normal stratigem. I think it will probably be a mission like the hellbomb or dark fluid backpack that will appear on certain planets, probably once illuminate show up. My personal theory is that there will be pitch-black illuminate planets where you have to use flashlights and flares to see anything. That is why it is such a short cooldown, it will allow you to see long distance every 30 seconds.

I'm a very big fan of these niche stratagems, I like being the guy Who runs stuff?Nobody else does and when we really need it and really comes in Handy

I think it’s cool that this stratagem might have a purpose for the bugs, but it doesn’t seem like it has any purpose right now for the bots, think for the bots it should mess up with their targeting system at night, making them less accurate while they shoot at us.

Let's get a secondary flare pistol that if shot straight up has the same effect

Throw a auto turret on top of a hill and a flare at the bottom and see if you can stop chargers from destroying the turret as quickly

I'm still having a great amount of fun with the game but I also understand the frustration of players in regards to the issues with bugs, the sample/currency cap, and the lack of content/items to purchase with those samples so it feels like you are working towards an in game goal aside from the progression of the war. We're coming up on 5 months since release of this game. I think there's been a lot more good than bad with HD2. I'm just worried people don't have the patience or the attention spans to allow the game to evolve into what it can be.

I have very little problems or crashes and this game is still amazing a a ton of fun.

Had 120fps when i started playing. Now im barely peaking at 55fps. And the game still sometimes freezes in loading screen for everyone. Even tho its a "fixed issue"

As far as performance, i have a question i hope someone can answer. It runs fine on my PC; however, with steam we have the option to verify the integrity of the game files. I do it every time im going to play HD2, but it ALWAYS 100% of the time say "1 file was unable to verify and will be reoccured." Why does that 1 file want to live off the grid so bad? It looks like that 1 file is responsible for most of my issues because if i verify before i get 0 crashes. If i don't, well, yall already know. Like find that file, and put some nails in it before it moves again.

honestly no, we dont need a constant belt of performance patches just get the main issues out the way so THE REAL BUGS can start being delt with like when my brother on steam deck INNEVETABLY gets launched while holding an sssd - fucking over a 2 hour op in a span of 10 seconds because the objective is now in a deep fucking trench at the bottom of the ocean or 20 miles from the mission area or how abaout when you get kicked even as host - no warning - no indication, only to find yourself being told "unable to join" or "lobby is no longer available" OR HOW ABOUT WHEN YOU GET TOSSED TO A PRIVATE LOBBY WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IS IN THE INITIAL LOBBY... HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN im starting to see why everyone is saying dead game - still breathing yeah... but fu ck me all it needs is a prod from a stick and its gonna keel over and wither away

Honestly the recent patch was decent. It fixed the crashes that I was affected by the most, and the new ship modules are a nice addition to the game’s progression. And as far as i’m aware, this is a patch that actually did what it said in the patchnotes!

The way I see it, Helldivers 2 isn’t perfect. But AH has found a formula that is really onto something, and I am here for the ride.

i am almost giving up on this MO, my aim sucks but i noticed this only happens against bots, my fps drops so much that i can't even aim it drops to 10 fps when a bot patrol appears on my screen, it lags if i move my camera, the game isn't felling smooth at all my pc isn't the best but it should be able to handle this game

I think cross-platform compatibility might be the reason for so many crashes, but that's just my guess from a gamer's point of view. Analogy: It's like a Russian and an American pilot trying to fly a French plane together. It's bound to crash!

What if they put AI to become the master dungeon of the game?

Personally I have a pretty beefy pc with a 4080 and I’ve had nearly a 50% decrease in average frame rate compared to launch. The performance lately has been horrible.

My fps has dropped like a stone. Like playing on a console.

I love the game even though it works then it doesn’t I love it even though I get kicked or have to shut it off and restart to play with friends! I hope they fix it but I will say as an almost 50 year old who’s been playing since Atari and loves multiplayer games this is one of the best Ever! I hope it only gets better.. I hope lol

they do a lot right. that is why it is so frustrating that they are failing miserably at it. every update breaking the game is not good at all. maybe in a year they will have this stuff sorted out but there is clearly things wrong with the game that are not going to be fixed in the short term and that means for quite a while we will all be beta testing updates that are already implemented.

I work night shifts and i play weekends and Friday off lvl 105 320hrs and platinum, if they want me to take a break, fine. I'll take it as an order. Since release, I DID MY PART. now let's give the devs time to do theirs ig lol and Yeesssssss MODERATION that's what I was doing until the SOCIAL menu went completely into the ground and didn't phase back to the surface. But after achieving 100% and lvl 105 It gets lonely in this war😂If you couldn't play with friends or rejoin cool randoms, I'm sure it would dim your fun. But if AH wants us to take a break, then it is my DARN DEMOCRATIC DUTY to follow those orders and take a well-deserved rest. At least in the future, they can make these BREAKS something of a satirical event in the actual game.

Fn hummingbird brains. . . already after HD3 when they havent even gotten to the meat of HD2 yet. This game has years of progression before even considering another title release. Though, building on a dead engine will hasten that time somewhat, they made their bed on that one.

to people who don't understand why these performance issues are happening, as a former computer science major allow me to nutshell the reason why: Welcome to coding done quick! where you are the culprit, witness, and detective all at the same time. With every bug you fix, you break another part of the game or cause another bug especially on a game of this scale.

I think HD3 would be a mistake (atleast for 5yrs) the warbonds keep players playing or paying. Im surprised they arnt releasing more as this is good income. But the way the warbonds are now they aren't worth a tenner

Arrowhead needs to chill on the gunships and shrieker spawns...they say "we reverted the patrol spawns" ok, then u added freakin aerial patrols...it's not a huge deal in a squad usually, but they continue to pound on people who like to play solo. Gunships spawn faster than u can kill them and blow up the fabricator. Had five f#@$!ng gunship fabs in a 100m cluster yesterday. One single and two doubles shittin out gunships on a lvl 6 mission! The game is really just becoming annoying to even play at all...depends on what u get when u drop in, but at least 50% of the time it's not nearly as fun as it is a pain in the ass.

This game is the new division. Great game, full of nerfs for players, buffs for the NPCs. Video games, these days are released “incomplete” or the devs just won’t leave well/enough alone!!! The game was perfect when it first came out and should just been left as is. But again like the division, the good idea fairy has “ruined” the game. Too many nerfs, too buffs, not enough common sense logic.
