Yeah I just realized right now that the delay was because of the sonic boom delay technically sound doesn't travel in a vacuum but there IS some scanty atmosphere at that altitude AFAIK
This is what masterful sound design is. The music: not just the daring booming brass carrying the melody, but also the strings- setting the stage and then following behind the brass, responding to the brass in a heroic dance. The strings are perhaps my favorite. The delayed boom of the pods being launched in space the gritty TIE screaming of the pods penetrating the atmosphere, the pod’s metal stressed to its limit in the crucible of fire. You can hear all of it Heroism, terminal velocity, power. Democracy has arrived.
Best level transition in a game hands down, it even feels cool on solo dives. It's gets me hyped and excited for the mission every time, it's an amazing work art all on it's own.
They could've just cut into the diving cutscene alone as the loading screen but they knew they weren't boring enough to be lazy. Always love devs that go a little bit extra and make you feel immersive like you're actually in the game, in this case, launching into action with fellow liberators to spread our managed democracy
I'll never forget my first dive. I've never felt such a rush of motivation from a videogame as I dropped into battle with my boys with the music blaring through my home theater system, seeing other helldivers' dropping in and the ships bombarding the planet below. No matter how many times I dive, this feeling never goes away. The game does a perfect job at immersing you into it and making you feel like part of an actual ongoing conflict. Thank liberty for the chance to serve democracy!
This is the greatest loading screen of any game I’ve played. I could honestly never get bored of it! The only thing that could make it better (if you can improve on perfection) is if the Democracy Officer character turned and saluted the pods as they jettisoned from the ship.
It's so epic when you drop on a busy planet and you see other Helldivers pods dropping in the distance making you feel like you're part of a big movement
What I love about this cutscene is how the camera slowly pans down with the Hellpod as the wooshing effect ramps up, aided with the musc makes it very addicting and I love seeing it everytime! It is genuinely a masterclass in cinematics in my opinion!
I must have dropped like a million times already but each time it feels so fucking amazing. So epic. Makes me wanna become a hero. A legend. A HELLDIVER
I'm a sucker for a good drop sequence. And, in my humble opinion, Hell Divers 2 takes the cake. The music, the visuals.... It's glorious, and genuinely awe-inspiring to me
I love this scene. It reminds me so goddamn much of ODST and i love it. I love odst. That's why I played the first game and had to preorder the 2nd when it came out.
The theme is great but there is a brutal transition between the main theme and the eerie silent/ambiant music. And suddenly, you are not so confident anymore because you understand that all before was only propaganda, that you indeed dived into a warzone and you will be in deep until the extraction ship arrives. It is a small touch but actually really well done.
OMG I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING. Everytime i drop from orbit i feel like "Hell yeah, we're gonna give 'em hell" but when you actually land on a planet, it gets suddenly quiet and eerie and you start thinking " well, maybe we are going to have a hard time dealing with them"
I have always liked the fact that you can see the other Hell Diver pods dropping through the planet's atmosphere while yours is in mid drop. Now, imagine if Super Earth is to be invaded the amount of Hell Pods dropping through Super Earth's atmosphere as the Hell Divers return to defend the home planet!
The fact a thing such as a simple loading screen has so work done to it and create so much hype is a testament to the passions of the team working on this game
This Is a great example of how powerful music is. The music makes the transition from ship to surface feel really seamless. It's the perfect bridge the way how is syncs so well.
The hype this part of the game gives you every time will never be topped! The dramatic music, the visuals, the fact you can see other Helldivers deploying at the same time you are. HD2 will no doubt get GOTY
This is prolly gonna sound cringe af, but ever since this game came out every jump I’ve been on (82d airborne) the theme plays in my head while I’m going out the bird
I seriously get goosebumps everytime my buddies and i hit the pods and deploy. It amps ya up!!! This needs to be a sports team intro!!! Id be amped hittin da field with that playing and yes the alarm sound at the start needs to be in it.
Hmm this is way shorter for me.. I suspect this animation is a loading screen.. so the faster your pc, HDD, connection and probably server the shorter this scene should be I guess. It’s lovely what can be achieved on modern hardware and with good programmers.. loading screens are no longer boring.. or even loading screens :D😊
There is something that is so mesmerizing about watching this cutscene/loading screen. Either it be the sound design of the drop or seeing the moons and other planets as you drop into a planet's atmosphere. This game really has a seamless transition from being on the ship to dropping onto the planet. Its super immersive and really shows a great sense of scale. I think games like Destiny had similar game design but fails in comparison to Helldivers.
Super Earth: ok we got the troops, how do we make them get where they are needed?, drop ships? parachutes? maybe some sort of teleportation? The Super Earth helldiver Engineer High of DEMOCRACY: SAME DAY DELIVERY
I love how the whole game is blatantly satirical and clearly poking fun at propaganda-heavy totalitarian/fascist regimes but also goes out of its way to make almost everything you do genuinely hype as hell.
This is the most exciting part of the game for me. Dropping in. The music perfectly aligned with the sounded of the hellpod launch. We didn’t deserve this game
