This drove me actually crazy setting up but it wouldnt register in game. the solution to this was changing the "open stratagem" keybind from "hold" to "press" and it started working just in case someone else is looking for the solution to this problem. thanks for the video!
i dont think it is cheating, but i do think it removes the fun hectic chaos when you try to get that one stratagem called in with swarms of bugs swarming you. I do have a stream deck but I will not be setting it up and using it because of this reason
idgaf if someone thinks it's cheating. the game is fun. using fun toys like the stream deck to make fun macros for my fun game is fun. anyone that wants to be a salty loser about it can play the game however the hell they want. I'll still use my macros.
Here is some software that that makes everyone invincible. No it's not cheating. This is a PVE game. It helps out the squad. Because you aren't competing against other people nothing is cheating.
It's cheating the game, but not the devs or the players. If anything I feel hd2 devs will applaud this soldier for his moxy. There is obviously a difference between macros/keybinds and aimbot/wall hacks etc so with this game there's kind of a moral gray area imo
Its not cheating. I have essential tremor that is shaking hands. I so often hit next key and screw it up. I will get one and do this. Thank you for giving a old man a tool to play on even terms with others.

I do not consider it cheating, I've been wondering if I could use my Stream Deck for Stratagems. I found an entire profile on the Elgato Store as well. Though it's not designed for a mini, it's for the 15 key one! Enjoyed the stream, glad I discovered you through the Goth Raid!
Lol ok, it's not the creation of the atomic bomb, it's a video game. Using this harms no one, not even their fee fees, so let's not get too carried away. I'd love to think I created a video of this magnitude, but really...I know how important this is in the grand scheme of things

Yeah, you totally could. What you would want to do is change the keybind in game settings for control to "press" rather than "hold" , then in the deck add a control hot key at the beginning and end.
Yes it is cheating if its pve or pvp and your are bypassing the mechanic that makes the game fun.... pushing the combination of strats in the middle of chaos is one of the things that makes you a better player and it is super satisfying when well executed. Not very different from autoaim or something that make your game easier imo.
Yeah so as someone with a bit of a vision problem AND the fact that they have made the arrows TINY in the corner of the screen, it is hard for me to see them. So... streamdeck it is!
@@thecloudedone124 it definitely can be. Others in the comment section were saying you could get it to handle the control key as well. Might update and include that, cuz I think that's pretty clutch here to get it working flawlessly.
@@DreadCaptainJames I have it set so that when I press the button on the stream Deck, it hits the stratagem modifier button then enters the stratagem...
If you're playing on PC, it shouldn't matter if you're using mouse and keyboard or controller, but this is PC only as the stream deck doesn't work with PS5.

What about people with disabilities such as dyslexia or missing fingers or people older with hand problems. Yeah it can be abused but so what it’s a PvE.
Kinda a you cheat on yourself at first because you take this tension moments out of your game. Not judging it, but i prefer keep wrecked while hammering wrong orders in my sweat wet keyboard. watch out if the orders change and you blast yourself
It's 100% true, and some people will prefer it. I honestly like to have it sitting there, and I might touch it once or twice a day. It's nice to have the flexibility to use whatever stratagems I want, and the SD doesn't really allow that as you need a lot of preparation to make it work. This vid is definitely just a case of if you want to use this here you go.
Just set it up. It does indeed. I know that's a late reply. lol The only thing is I put a tap of ctrl before the start of each stratagem and made the open stratagem window be a press toggle.

@robertleow9987 Oooooooh I see, sorry to hear that! As an alternative, I know you can get a stream deck app on your phone, but I think there's a fee associated with it. Might be worth looking into perhaps.
Interesting concept, but it bypasses a core challenge/mechanic of the game which is literally the definition of cheating… Will definitely not be using this.
Assuming you're a PC gamer or this wouldn't apply based on the fact you won't be using this. That being said, I'm sure you've never modded your games before or used console commands in any way under any circumstances on that sole principle...right?
@@DreadCaptainJames For a multiplayer game? Absolutely not. I personally don’t use commands or mods to make my single player games easier either, but that’s just me. If you want to enable console commands in a Mario game, go for it. It’s still “cheating” but the only person you’re cheating is yourself, so it doesn’t bother me. Multiplayer is a totally different ballgame.
Ahh, I had I feeling I was right about what you play on. Console commands are not for console games, meaning that you can't use them on Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo. They're on PC only, and I figured you didn't know this. When you said you wouldn't be using this, it made me think...I bet they *can't*, and that might make you mad. And for another point: mods don't always have to do with difficulty but usually adding content to games or QoL improvements that the devs might not have considered. Also kind of a giveaway that you might be a console player. For the record, I don't think you know what you're talking about. Also, in a non-competitive game, how do you cheat? This doesn't disable respawn times, doesn't make you invincible, it takes a bunch of time to set up and limits the player's ability to use it on anything other than what they've PRECISELY figured out ahead of time, and should theoretically only affect them once every like 7 minutes if they live that long. Also, for the record, not one of these codes is hard to learn or enter, so calling it a challenge is laughable at best. Takes seconds to learn and remember, so if that's a challenge in your book, I see how this went right over your head. Also, this method doesn't decipher and enter the codes on computer terminals for you (like mission specific ones or calling in your ride out), so that point where you are in the heat of things and it's super stressful, yeah that still 100% happens. Also, let's talk about a multiplayer game that's not PvP, but PvE. If you don't understand working in a team, which you seem to have demonstrated, and a player on your team calls in something flawlessly every time they try, I guess now you'll have to assume that they're cheating. Or are they just good? This is the extent to how much this affects you, right there. Get over it and cope man, it's not a big deal. I'm not even telling people to use it, I'm just showing people how to make it work if they want to because it doesn't matter at all.

Your feelings were wrong. Not only am I a PC gamer but I’m a programmer and have my own custom built stream deck too. I am very familiar with how mods and console commands work, thank you. The rest of your points are wild, man. Cheats have existed WAY before competitive gaming existed. Why would you think you could only cheat in a competitive game? Also it’s not about the inputs for stratagems being particularly difficult, it’s that in the heat of the moment, you can fumble it and die, and it happens often. Watch some streams of people panicking trying to run and shoot and call in a carpet bomb at the same time. Like my original comment said, it’s a core mechanic of the game. Removing that brief moment of “oh shit I accidentally hit up instead of down!” makes the game easier, and is therefore cheating. Judging by the fact that my comment is the most liked comment, a lot of people seem to agree. Anyway man, this is way too overblown now, and I’m just further feeding into it, so… peace. whether you can set it on a stream deck or on your keyboard its still very much a cheat. You are macroing something that the game is demanding you do manually as part of the game.
My argument against this is that all it does is remove layers of intended gameplay mechanic and difficulty. Its all up to you to call stratagem fast under stress with 2 titans and horde of small ones behind you. If you can call it without intentional effort and concentration from your part it makes this part of the games difficulty irrelevant and at that point why not ask devs to make stratagems one click summon like airstrike on COD or BF, but then at the same time they would have to increase difficulty across the board to compensate for mindless stratagems. So in the end it is cheating, since if you use this it will make it effortless for you while others have to sweat to keep up with your perfomance and to not let you down as a squad member. Imagine a group of random players and 3 of them use this method and one does not, the guy who does not is slower and as a result worse than others and host just kicks him out for basicly no reason thinking he is somehow better then him. For me personally the way you need to call stratagem in the heat of the battle was one of the points that convinced me to buy this game after I was intriduced to it by my friend.
Listen, I fully understand your point, but it's only one way to look at it. I stream this daily, and I play with viewers. They have never seemed to mind that I can call stuff in, like reinforcements quickly. I haven't kicked anyone, EVER, even if they've beaten me into the ground with airstrikes. Cheating is an unfair advantage OVER other players, and since we don't compete with each other, as stated in the video, it's DIFFERENT here. If we were PvP, as in the games you listed, sure, you'd have a point I couldn't argue with. It could just as easily be argued that when one gets good at these, or practices them in their free time to do it mindlessly, they TOO would be looked at as cheating. Hell, any time anyone got GOOD at something could theoretically be looked at as a cheater by those with inferior skills. It's not a bad argument, and no one is forcing you to use this, but it is a tool that can be used, and it can only help a squad, not harm it. Like, would you yell at the first dude to create a bow and arrow and insist that they continue to throw rocks at their prey cuz it's cheating and he brings back food more reliably? This is the other side of the argument, it's not meant to make you mad, I'm just pointing out the flaws.
Is there a way to configure the stream deck to hold ctrl and then hit the other keys, so I can just hit the button on the stream deck, rather than needing to hold ctrl while it does it?

@@DreadCaptainJamesFirst of all: Great idea! I don't have a Stream Deck, but I'm trying to replicate this with the G.Skill WigiDash. Works like a charme as well. But I think rhysholden2395 might be right. There is a link to Google drive in there, but that zip file only contains a handful or general logos. They look nothing like the ones you use in the video. 🤷
This is going to a GAME CHANGER. There are so many times I've not been able to call the squad back in because I'm dodging 4 chargers, 5 pitter spitters and a titan.
The video legit does say Steam Deck but he meant to say STREAM Deck. the Stream Deck is a piece of hardware with LCD screen buttons that you can program macros with. You can use them to open up websites or programs, adjust lighting or volume with the push of a button. It's a really neat piece of hardware
