the playstation network account required tag is still up on the steam page , the may 2nd update page DOESN'T say its been removed simply that they are learning about player preference , NOTHING is changed except a REVIEW SCORE FOR THEIR UPCOMING INVESTORS CALL by people taking a twitter post as solid evidence, until the PSN required tag on the helldivers 2 page is removed and an update clearly stating it wont require PSN on steam im not changing my negative review im not falling for twitter crap that can be reneged on without consequence.
This isn't over. Do not relent or forget what happened because this is still Sony. Until everyone can dive again nothing has changed. Until its confirmed that countries that were locked out of purchasing the game can again it's not over. All Sony has done is said things on social media. Talk is cheap, action speak louder. My review will stay negative because I have no faith in Sony to not screw this up later when they try something else.
To be honest, the main thing on my end that caused me not to want to play during the weekend until the announcement was the removal of all the countries on Steam that would lose access to the game if PSN was required and seeing so the random dissidents in the discord that were essentially saying essentially the same few things in different words: "It's so simple to do, you crybabies should stop crying about it" "You already do it for other games, it's the same thing" "It's your fault that the restricted countries lost access because they could have just faked PSN details because it wouldn't be enforced" "They could have just used a VPN" "You and I don't live in the restricted locations so I don't want to hear about the places that would lose access" Hopefully the game does get a comeback though, since other than a couple trolls in 90-100 hrs of play time, the random groups I have joined have always been pretty chill and it's been a blast to play.
The reason why the region stuff isn't fixed is probably because of Steam. The region locking probably came from them, and they are probably talking with Sony about which regions should be opened up, whether PSN will be forced or not, as well as penalties for selling everywhere and the fiasco caused, given the CEO mentioned that 6 months before release Sony already knew they wanted to make PSN mandatory for the game. It may take more than a day or two for all regions to come back, if they come back.

Expect in the near future to fight hive lords and tunnelers. I fought them in the first game years ago and they were tough even with a full squad. I hope they bring the tanks back. That will be a great equalizer with the other vehicles.
So the funny thing is, is that Japan had three national holiday days in a row. So Sony told Arrowhead to announce that change and immediately went on vacation after lighting that tire fire, and they only just came back to this nightmare.
sony moved to California in 2016. and by the way HD2 was also blocked in Japan by the steam store over this mess. Think it's the only nation to be unblocked so far.
@@Zarcondeegrissom Fyi this may be due to Japanese voice acting. Japanese voice actors are like hollywood celebrities - massive followings, strong unions, and very famous. If you want to use Japanese voice acting internationally you need to negotiate a special export licensing agreement with the union. As a result, the version with Japanese voice acting is generally published separately, and made Japan-specific, with another version published internationally without the voice acting. It may have nothing to do with this.

Illuminates had Sony working for them to cut the helldivers numbers down across the board. The engineered this attack by tapping into higher dimensions but the don't know helldivers are a master of multi-front warfare. FOR DEMOCRACY!!!

IMO Steam and Sony are talking in regards to verifying that Sony isn't going to turn the acct link requirement back on in the near future if ever before taking off the country list.
I feel like this is a holdover Major Order while AH tidies up the more internal messes Sony likely caused. Seems for sure like one we're not meant to win. But that's OK we got a bunch of new environments to fight bugs in that aren't "JESUS CHRIST THAT CHARGER JUST PUNTED ME INTO A FIRE TORNADO SWEET L I B E R T Y !"
I'm pretty positive there going to be returned. This isn't something that changes a the drop of the hat. Steam's going to have to be contacted and explained why they need to have thing's changed yet again within 3 day's.
@@LordRazer3 I had seen a post that Steam is aware of the situation and is awaiting Sony's promise there will be no new mandates before they return the game to the affected regions. CYA to the extreme because Steam doesn't want their players' wallets affected like this again.
Been saying this everywhere but, Sony still needs to be held accountable for their actions. They as the publisher allowed Steam to sell the game to countries that didn't have PSN access for three months when the account linking was intended from the start. Regardless if that was intentional or not, it makes them liable for fraud. I also argue that they should have to compensate Arrowhead for the damages to their reputation because of all this.

@@MistaBaze There are people who bought this game (after the initial launch) that did not know about the PSN account requirement because it was temporarily removed by Arrowhead post launch, anyone in a country that PSN is restricted in that also bought this game would have lost access to being able to play this game. Secondly, to my knowledge, Steam has either stopped sales in those countries, or outright removed people ability to buy or play the game (I'm not 100% sure about that last bit), so the issue now is, Sony has to figure out a way to make sure those folks can still play the game they bought, or at the very least insure those people get all the money they spent on this game back. Until all that happens, Sony has not righted this wrong. AH and Steam aren't innocent here either, but at least Steam has been issuing refunds regardless of time played, so there's that. Some of us "PC boys" are crybabies, I'll give you that, but there is more to it than just whinning about. Don't take this to be condisending, just an honest, if long winded response.
Arrowhead knew about the policy for the system link for months and turned it off at launch to allow more players in. Hard to blame them, they are a small dev team that put in 8 years of work and they weren’t expecting the sheer numbers they got -but look at how bad the shit hit the fan. Sony had a part to play in this as well since they published it and own the IP but it was Arrowhead that was in breach in contract. If anything overly negative happens that ends up affecting Sony financially, it’s Arrowhead that would suffer the consequences. Sometimes you just have to take the win.
Something tells me that the big eggs we destroyed during the previous major order were going to hatch and become the new terminid. Tunnels were apparently found close to the eggs in some spots and those must have been dug by those centipede looking terminids.
After steam updates, i'm pretty sure they will be unblocked since the PSN requirement is gone, but that's just speculation and stuff I heard from multiple other people
@@MrZezi I'd seen a statement from Valve that the block would remain until Sony told them no mandates would be coming to the game. Mostly out of 'CYA' provisions, but also to prevent this SNAFU from happening again.
the key word is " we'll keep you updated on future plans" they will come up with some features locked behind the subscription or something like that. Sony hasn't given up they just regrouping. It ain't over yet.
pns exclusive items and bonuses etc etc to get enough zeds suckling them is my suspicion too. if the locked countries arent restored, its because they dont want to have to refund those people when they try again.

Its honestly impressive that CEO decided to take accountability in modern gaming industry. The whole honest approach from arrowhead devs is awesome and i am happy to see there is still a chance in this industry. A little firefly in greedy dark world od gaming
@voodiomola6016 You speak as though good men cannot make mistakes. Did he mess up? Yes, maybe even in a very big way. But i do not think he was forced to make himself accountable and i don't think we did that either all you have to do is look at Blizzard and Activision things like this have happened before and i can count the number of time ANY C-Level admitted that they made mistakes, i think he made a conscious decision to hold himself a accountable. Case and point Blizzard had to be written an ACTUAL condemnation/veiled threat by a US SENATOR before they backed down on banning someone who spoke out for Hong Kong.

Would be nice if they would add some way to spend medals and research other than a maybe once a month weapon and destroyer upgrade and a single war bond. I've blown through the whole lot at lvl83 from helping friends and doing major orders and I'm maxed out on everything. As fun as the game is, I'm at a loss as to what to do now.
I did remove my negative review, but Arrowhead didn't earn the positive review just yet. Let aside the unnecessary nerfs, some known issues are still there for more than a month now, and they remain untouched.
What is sad is that it took review bombing the game into overwhelmingly negative on Steam and tons of players requesting a refund, and some getting a refund, for Sony to back off this. The pushback was almost instant when they first announced this was happening. Makes you wonder what Sony would have done without the negative reviews and refund requests.
The fight isn't over until we get all of our fellow Helldivers back. We have to push to get our comrades back on the battlefield by pushing Sony to announce the death of future mandates so Steam will reinstate the remaining territories.
A lot of countries it’s unavailable in don’t have access to steam in the first place. E.G North Korea. Very unfair to helldivers devs to make that the standard
It's still the same 177, just that territories are not considered countries (like Virgin Islands, PR, and Guam). The fight isn't over yet. No Helldiver left behind.
I personally think people are jumping the gun on calling it a win. They only said they are not pushing forward with the planned patch to enforce PSN login, not that they are abandoning the PSN requirement. Mark my words, in a few months time they will come back with a different way of enforcing this. My guess will be that if you don't link to a PSN account you wont be able to play online with PUGs. This technically allows people in non-psn countries to still play the game while still fulfilling that requirement to Sony. The entire reason for the PSN linking is because AH do not have the manpower or infrastructure to handle bans and appeals. That has not changed because of this incident
Speaking of Major Orders...JOEL GOTTA CHILL Both the bugs and the bots are 3 sectors away from the Solar System and it seems like they take a new system every week. They are too close to Super Earth!
I dont expect perfection from any human, even a CEO. What I do think is a reasonable expectation is that when someone makes a mistake they take reasonable steps to rectify it, and then try to learn from it. Glad to hear that AH and hopefully PSN are trying to do that, its respectable. The game stumbled and perhaps might not reach the highest peaks of game fame now, but here's hoping it can at least resume its climb at a steady, wiser, pace
I think a cool new mission for meridia and all the other super colonies is one where you start on one end of the map and have to get to a critical super nest and plant a super hellbomb in the middle of it and get back to the pelican thats waiting on you before it goes off and blows up the entire map all while bugs are constantly attacking you at all times (also the super nest has a TON of common samples all over it please)
When talking about “Will Helldivers recover” it kind of doesn’t matter if they recover from where they were before this controversy. The game has already blown up beyond Arrowheads wildest dreams, I don’t think they’re concerned with recovery when either way they have been more successful than they could have predicted
still there is a problem, in my country, psn is not provided for what i know, today my friend could not find the purchase button on steam for the game when yesterday was in its wish list with the price tag, i think is still a big L
I hope that the devs are secretly working on an entirely new enemy that will storm in from the south. It’s so depressing every time I look down at those untouched sections.
By the wording of the past two major orders, specifically when they said normal helldiving missions on Meridia would be useless, and the strategists are working on new ways to counter Meridia's threat, I got the impression that the devs were illuding to the future of helldiver missions having more than just 4 player slots. I could definitely be wrong about this, but it's a pretty cool possibility!
15:00 That's exactly how I felt. I still really wanted to play the game but I wanted to protest as well. It really says something about the quality of the game that many were so conflicted. Hopeful!
I own the game on PS5 and PC, I kept playing on PS5 and left a negative review and didn’t play on PC since that’s the platform affected anyway. It’s not like we were trying to get PSN out of the PS5 version, so I settled for this 😛 It was my first review on a library of hundreds of Steam games, but this was for a good cause.
Love the game. I did not leave a negative review yet, mostly because I knew it was Sony in control. I was planning to soon if the policy didn't change. After the change, I left a positive review to show my support for the developer and for the correct decision being made. We have to show companies we appreciate when they are willing to change course rather than focusing on punishment for a past decision.
Talking about the statement 'is easy to link" it is and I agree.. he wasn't wrong. The only problem is psn not being available in so many countries. If it were, then nobody should complain about a 5 minute step. But until psn is available everywhere, this is a good move
Has anyone had problem with daily orders. The problem i mainly have for it is when it says "get x qmont of kills with z weapon" then doesnt reguster half the kills you get with said weapon
I mean hive worlds are nothing but bug tunnels on 100% of the continental surface and most of the planet's crust. When they say infested and unsaveable they mean it. It's one big xenomorph/tyranid hive.
This whole Sony debacle will go down as a slight blemish by the end of the year and Helldivers 2 will continue to prove to be an amazing game. It is still the best selling game of the year so far and potentially game of the year.
All Sony have to do is make exclusive cosmetic(cape and armor) for those who connect with psn, giving them the choice to pick whether they want it or not. If u want the armor, connect psn. If not or u cant, just play the game as usual. Instead of forcing it on the players and causing all this drama. Now even if they do this now those players who wears it will surely get kick or teamkill
We killed 2B bugs in half a day. We've been conditioned to focus fire on a target / specific planet every few days.... Sony just made it so easy to direct the hate towards them, and I hope it humbled them a little (or a lot). Ultimately I'm glad they walked this back, because if they held their ground and fumbled the easiest GOTY that's basically a PS exclusive - I can only imagine that pain for the higher ups. Now just the hell out of the way while AH keeps cooking content!
Spitz is legit a hero. Players wouldn't have review bombed in the way they did if it wasn't for him. He literally protested Sony by "doing exactly what he was told to do," which was to claim it's "nbd to sign up for sony" and "take it or leave it," which was Sony's policy not Spitz's.
Not sure if it has to be ‘easily’, but indeed it’s hard to fault a person when they (publicly) admit their earlier statements were wrong when presented with new info/facts I also liked the fact the CEO tells people “I don’t know”, rather than giving non answers or spinning their answers. In that regard Arrowhead definitely feels honest compared to how others might have dealt with bad situations like this. It felt like real people talking to eachother, rather than talking to a corporate entity and getting prepared answers. It was all very transparent, from the questionable statements to the handling of them
i bet we will have no choice but to try to use a world destroying bomb on Meridia, and our use of that bomb will draw the attention of THE ILLUMINATE. (if you know the lore behind the illuminate i could see something like that being what brings them back into the fold.) Also, if you look at the map, it seems the way the sectors are shifting is that theyre basically creating thirds. One third automaton, one third bugs, one third... nothing, for now. I think that void will be filled fairly soon woth illumiate.
SWANY! First my last name is Swan I think I’ve already told you my nickname growing up was also swanny lol. But past few days I have been using the spear and man oh man is it AWESOME! Give it a try pls!! Takes some getting used to but ping your target and have a mostly clear view and lure them into looking/moving towards you so you hit they’re head/face and I promise I get instant lock on and 1-2 shot kills 99% of the time. Also if you hold your aim button in to achieve lock on, fire, keep holding your aim and when you reload it will still maintain lock on so you can fire continuously as long as target doesn’t move behind cover! Let me know how it goes !
I play on ps5 so the change would not affected me but the community would have changed and the negativity would have made the game toxic. What makes this game so good is hearing all the inside jokes and going after major orders together, is what makes this game worth playing.
If they put the game on sale for even like 10% off, it would probably make a huge statement that they want all the refunded players back. Doubly so if they fix the region lockout issue.
They better to do both at the same time, along with "no psn bs ever again", or make it for crossplay only (which would be a very good thing, because there is many bugs caused by sony players in PC lobbies and other way around).
I think once the new bond drops were gonna get a new obj to use those leaked ground spikes to kill underground hives while we get confortable with the new meta. Then once we compleate it the hive lord is gonna get added
In a weird way I think that this might be the best timeline; a lesson was learned by everyone - don't fuck with Helldivers, and don't fuck with gamers more generally.
I’m super grateful that it seems like arrowhead went to bat for the player base and even promoted the review bombing and refund of their OWN GAME absolute legends and a W game studio for sure
They will need to shake it up and allow a full on invasion of Mars, with Super Earth being endgame. Despite what we do, it shows that progress is trivial.
Honestly, I'm glad the dev and the publisher are both owning up to their mistakes here, but I also feel like the community overreacted a lot. Like, the region locking was a major issue, but I also feel like there was still 3-4 weeks before it was going to become mandatory and they probably didn't even realise in advance about it, so I would have given them the benefit of the doubt for a bit longer. Fundamentally for most players, who are not in the locked regions statistically, I think Spitz was right that it's a minor inconvenience.
I'm happy to have held out and stayed on the outside through out this whole drama. I was hoping for this type of outcome which is nice. I will say though, it has been a couple weeks since I was really into HD2 and am now kind of waiting for new factions or just a different way to play. The gameplay loop kinda got repetetive after about 100 hrs. Democracy prevailed today!
i was in the process of refunding the game and canceled it. Was going to do it over the weekend but a friend told me to wait till Monday night. Good thing I did.
Snoy stuffed this one up severely, one comment I see going around is just give people who link their account a cosmetic, does change any game play and after this debacle no one would wear it anyway
