hope the HAF will make good use out of it - you lucked out in greece, the bad news sourrounding the F-35 are getting worse and worse. (we'll have at least 5 years no aircover in switzerland. minimum.)
not correct (sadly enough): switzerland is in an economical war with the usa and germany since 2008 and the left constantly fights switzerland from the inside (just look at what happened to Credit Suisse - the company was healthy, but the media is in the hands of the radical left). as for the f-35 (block 4 has been ordered) - it will not get the adaptive engine making it cheaper to fly than rafale/eurofighter (the usaf opted for engine core update, but no manufacturer bids for the job) - the PTMS (power and therma management system) needs a complete replacement, plannings for that can take place as soon the ECU is "set"; in the meanwhile, even block3-f-35 get their sensors deactivated as the ptms can't supply them with power or cooling. - acc.the secretary of the USAF, the ECU will be available earliest 2029, no block 4 without ECU. (add the time for the PTMS-replacement-development, testflights aso) - since switzerland doesn't have delivery priority (like Finland, Canada, Australia and Germany), earliest delivery will be possible for block4 in 2035. - if switzerland changes the order from block 4 to block3: acc. US GAO (government accountability office), they currently have a 10 years delay; but of course, that was before lockheed admitted that they could only build 96 machines per year (GAO calculated with the previously announced 156 machines/year). means: earliest delivery 2033, AND: mandatory upgrades to make it to block 4 (new engines, new ptms, new sensors aso) ...also, the TR3-update for F-35 is now delayed, too. they say it will be available in april (before this november, before that january, ... ... ...) ...this thing is a trainwreck, sorry to say. on paper great, but in reality.?? and now add to it: the F5 Switzerland owns will not fly after 2025. the F18 Switzerland owns will not fly after 2030. ALSO EU pressures Switzerland (think economical war) to deliver 10 F18 to the ukraine. (originally, switzerland had 33 F-18. 7 were lost in accidents, 5 had been dismantled to get spareparts when the US canceled the supply-contracts in 2008 - and 2030 is calculated "without additional losses"; and from the 21 left over jets, we shall deliver 10. .....switzerland will not have aircover for many, many years.... @@no_name4080
