Trommer.no er med Hellhammer på prøver med Mayhem før opptreden i London 18 des. 2010. Jan Axel Blomberg er en norsk trommeslager som regnes blant de fem beste i verden innen sin stilart.
I meet Hellhammer last week. We talked about the new mayhem album that is coming out this year, cant wait. realy cool guy and deffinently Norways best drummer. keep up the good work!
Jan Axel, you are the coolest nighbor i have! I have been to one rehearsal with mayhem, i can say that his drumkit is awsome and realy good to play on! And he's new cymbals are like the dream! Nice that Hellhammer(jan Axel) my nighbor make some videos!
I´m a drummer myself, starting out early and playing fast black metal when I was about 13 or 14 at 1991.I thought I was extremely fast, and more skilled compared to Hellhammer back then (mysteriis dom satanas lp,of course, concidering to the songs featured). But now....21 years later, who the hell could out play him?! I just love that guy! Check out his left hand work. Also look at Frost with Gorgoroth and Fenriz during 1991 (Goatlord-era).Since then he has been an disappointment...
How great is this! Finally I have the opportunity to view Hellhammers magnificent drumming raw, alive (dead ;) and kicking (on his bassdrums). What a grand declaration. Cheers from the Netherlands
This seems to be the first video ever of Hellhammer playing fast stuff, and finally one can see his conflicting technique. In one way it's old school but on the other it's very economical. On fast stuff he uses push/pull -technique for the hands and constant release (heel-toe) technique on the feet. But then again much of the power comes from the shoulders when playing slower stuff, one can really see that he doesn't have much power on wrists when playing the toms and cymbals - interesting...
Fuck, he's good.Whatever anyone thinks of him for any reason (personally I think he seems like a cool guy),you can't say that he doesn't know his way around a drum kit. That's for fuckin' sure!🤘
I think it was a prototype of his signature ride. Two layers of paint to try to make it as close to his old Sabian leopard ride as possible. He now uses this on the left side of his kit. On the right he has the Sabian leopard with a Paiste sticker on it :P
trust me man, take away the triggering and Hellhammer is still an awesome drummer!...the overtriggering is just there because it sounds good in the music. Hellhammer can play any fucking extreme metal drumming technigues... With or Without triggering!!
What the hell happened to full - screen in this video? Used to watch this a lot before and after a while suddenly the format is changed. Now it's kind of annoying to watch.
@MrAlucard222 Constant-release, heel-toe, whatev. you want to call it. When heel-toe developes further, the heel doesn't touch the ground at all. The technique is the same though.
For fucks sake, Hellhammer is not fat! Like someone else mentioned, he has always been well built. You have to be in pretty good shape to play how he does without having a heart attack. I doubt I could last 5 minutes.
@MrAlucard222 THAT IS NOT TRUE. He plays doubles with his feet on the fast parts. He told me personally, showed me and I'm using the exact same technique that he inspired me to learn. His foot motion at 2:57 and earlier in the video speak for itself; he's clearly working out those doubles in his legs with the alternating sixteenth note movement.
