I grew up when he was with White Sox and promoting Falstaff Beer. As a kid, I knew nothing about beer but because of Harry, I would get crazy excited when my family would drive by the Falstaff Brewery in Indiana on road trips. Harry and Jimmie were the best.
I remember going to Wrigley Field and listening to Harry Caray as a young boy sitting in the stands in the Sun! Day games for everyone... This was an amazing and soulful film about the beauty of humanity and how so much love is shared amongst Us All!
Miss his voice, baseball games on the television at my Grandparents house and our own home. My Dad has always been a huge baseball fan. When he yelled “Hoooooooooly Cow” I ran to the TV to see what the call was about. He got me excited for our very own Chicago! 😂 My childhood memories 😇
Reds fan here always watched WGN & the Cubs on the Superstation though when the Reds weren’t on Harry Carey was a big part of my childhood as a young baseball fan.
Loved listening to him even after he left my Sox. Went to many Sox and Cubs games in the 80s and 90s and would go back in a heartbeat. Plus concessions were affordable then.
Thank you so much, I left Chicago for NYC after my dad died & remember going to games w/ my dad in the 80' & being courtside in 1997 @ age 24 to see God play . I think my Generation is the last great Generation before the internet. You became famous for being inherently talented or in Harry's case just larger than life! Edit...who was called "The penguin, who played 3rd base? It's driving me mad!!!
So sad to think that all the great voices of baseball are gone. I loved Harry, listening to WGN as a kid was absolutely amazing. Harry made the game come alive, and who can never forget those incredible words CUBS WIN, CUBS WIN HOLY COW CUBS WIN!!!!
45:32 today would be fired but was probably a daily event for Harry. He was so great and a major part of my life as I never missed a game in those days.
Did they mention besides an obvious entertainer....the sound of that voice! Rich w character...funny characters. Why am I replying to a bot? See that bot? It does me favors and later it's bot shame. The mask is nothing, it begins with a live lobster, can of olive juice, and an allen wrench. There's a DVD copy of Grease, Urban Cowboy AND of course the trapeze.
At the end of the 1991 season, Harry said, “ Sure as God make green apples someday the Cubs as gonna play in the World Series and it may be sooner than we think. 25 years later Cubs not only made it: THEY WON!!!! HOLY COW ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a mentor! I didn't ever know him, but it seems like he is my Grandfather. He passed 1 month before mo Dad! May God bless him and my Father, may they Both RIP...🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
Great video of Harry's life and career. Two questions: Where was Jack Buck in this video, who died about 4 years after Harry? And, if he wasn't fired for having the affair with the brewery exec's wife, as he claims never happened, then why the hell WAS he fired? He couldn't have been more popular in STL, or sold more Bud. Personally I believe the story is true, Harry was very much a ladies man and there was no other logical explanation.
Jim Dowdle story at 33:54 hysterical we’ve all been there answering the bell after partying waking up early feeling like crap & Harry “Oh I feel great.” Lol
