I like that this will make the second straight game where the player character stumbles into foiling Solas' master plan in the most mundane predictable way possible. Like, the guy might be intelligent, but he is running with a 4 WIS score on his D&D stat sheet

I read an article stating that you can romance all companions as any Class, Background, Gender and Race, but that romancing or befriending will be more or less difficult depending on these choices.

I've noticed online that everyone's been dying to romance Lucanis. I wonder if he'll end up being the most popular romance option next to Alistair, Fenris and Cullen.

I heard they said that Dragon Age Veilguard is going to work a lot like Mass Effect 2.

I discovered you via your DA: Inquisition playthrough, and as a fellow Solasmancer I'm soooo hyped to see you reacting to this gameplay! I can't blame you for this - because HELLO Solas looks absolutely amazing and it's been so long! - but I think you may have missed what looks to be two of the Evanuris breaking out of their prison at the end there. The same two whose statues were knocked down perhaps? Did Rook and the others inadvertently wreck Solas' "precautions" that he mentioned, and now they're also partly responsibile? SO MANY QUESTIONS. And what does that mean for Solas? The Evanuris will surely want revenge on him for tricking and imprisoning them in the first place, so does that mean Solas could even help the Veilguard in taking them down? It's also been confirmed that we can create our Inky in the CC alongside Rook (HYPE!) so maybe they could act as an advisor or something? I'm also scared because, we know what Bioware are like. What if the Evanuris are going to use or kill the Inquisitor to break Solas? The angst potential there is huge... "People are always dying... it's what they do." - This line hits extra hard when you remember that Solas unintentionally took away the ancient elves' immortality when he created the veil. The way Gareth delivered the line sounded like more of a lament than anything. I'm so excited to hear him work as Solas again, he does an amazing job

i missed my babygirl solas so bad its crazy !! he looks and sounds so good, and i cant wait for this game, even though i have a feeling i will break me. i just need my solavellan reunion and AT LEAST a bittersweet ending to their story, and hopefully a good ending. have a feeling ill be romancing lucanis (i love him already) or bellara (i love her already too) but all the companions sound and look amazing.

I found out that one of the backstories you can pick for Rook is a Grey Warden. It’s been soo long since we last played as one. No offense to Hawke and The Inquisitor, but I have a soft spot for the wardens.

The Inquisitor is confirmed to be back, we'll be customizing them at the beginning of the game before going in. Lavender will return!! 💜 it's canonically been 9-10 years since the end of Trespasser at this point. that's why Varric looks so different. salt n pepper Varric is somehow sexier than normal Varric 😆

They did all the "chasing" in the books and comics. This game starts 9 years after DAI. So for 9 years they have been hunting Solas. The devs said that wanted this game to start with an epic showdown, and they gave it to us. My only real issue is that there is a rumor the devs CUT a part of Varric's confrontation with Solas, and that in that interim...he killed Varric. And looking back at it, when you see Solas looking down the stairs and then turning around to see the Evanuris in the tear... YOU DONT SEE VARRIC anywhere.

Also, from what I have read, you not only get to customize yourself as Rooke, but also you get to customize your Inquisitor from DA Inquisition.

Varric pleading with Solas just breaks my heart.

I was skeptical when I saw the trailer but then remembered that all the other DA trailers were not representative of the games. The gameplay trailer relieved a lot of my worries. Still not 100% sold on the combat change but I'll be fine as long as the story is great.

I may have been super hyped for Shadows but this, now this is coming out on consoles I actually own. Veilguard is probably gonna consume my whole life for like a year. I’m already sold. Love how Minrathous looks, love how the characters all look, already basically in love with Neve. This is gonna be so good.

Yeah I think Bioware missed the mark with the first trailer - I’m not sure who was in charge of putting that together lol. It was very “Marvel-y” which doesn’t fit for Dragon Age. It got a LOT of criticism when it dropped last week. But I was VERY impressed with the gameplay trailer, and I think that it eased a lot of peoples’ concerns. Either way if it’s good or not, I’m gonna play the whole thing when it comes out lmao. Also, here is my theory for Solas’ role in the rest of the game: the statues that Rook messed up were what was preventing the Evanuris from breaking free, and the two entities we see behind Solas in the fade correspond to the Evanuris statues that Rook knocked over. So the two Evanuris will wreak havoc on Thedas and also do whatever they can to try and free the remaining elven gods, and Rook will end up being the reason why (making them kind of a foil to Solas). I think that a.) Varric may sacrifice himself to save Solas just as the Evanuris are about to get him, which will really move Solas and get him to join the Veilguard to help fix the issue, or b.) he’ll just join the Veilguard regardless to help fix things (and hopefully Varric doesn’t die). Either way, I think Solas will end up being on our side somehow, which is how he’ll end up reuniting with Inquisitor Lavellan (and possibly getting a redemption arc/back together with her). We know that you can customize your Inquisitor at the beginning of the game along with your Rook, so the Inquisitor is definitely going to play a significant role in the game! Also I’m so freaking excited because there are supposed to be face & body sliders, the option to be nonbinary, and all romanceable companions are pan and not limited to race/gender!!! 😭

I’ve come to accept that Dragon Age will never be like Origins again which is my favorite of the series personally, most of the people who worked on Origins aren’t even there anymore so there’s no point hoping for something that wouldn’t even be done the same way with the current team so I am cautiously optimistic about this title, based on what I’ve seen from the small gameplay they showed it feels a lot like Mass Effect with the powers wheel, dialogue wheel etc which I mean coming from me that’s not a bad thing but dragon age did have its own identity in the past and I loved it for what it was. I’m hoping the story is what’s gonna carry this for me and the gameplay will be serviceable and if I want my dragon age origins in 2024 I can just play BG3 :) BG3 really raised the bar tho when it comes to romances and companions so I’m hoping this game has at least half the memorable characters BG3 has

Unlike most people, I not surprised that Harding is a companion in this game. Awhile ago, I realized that bioware would introduce a character in a dragon age game, someone who's plays either a minor role or no role and in the next game, they will either be a companion or play a big role.

I'm so excited for this game. I'll have to actually finish Inquisition first.

I wonder at the end of Inquisition you have to make a choice whether you would want to talk him down or stop him at all cost If you chose to stop him at all cost does varrick not want to talk him down and then go straight for the kill?

Yeah the initial trailer isn’t doing them any favors. The gameplay reveal is FAR FAR BETTER and all the new details coming out sound about the game now sound fantastic! Like a mix of everything from Origins, 2, and Inquisition. I’m pretty excited tbh!

This looks more fun than Inquisition to me. At least combat wise. The rogue is agile. I tried rogue in inquisition but it wasnt as cool as what is seen here But all i want to be is a Wizard with some sick robes (and cape) with a hood Edit: and im joining the Shadow Dragons. Well Unfortunately we can't use anything from our prior games of DA Origin, DA2, or Inquisition. No Dragon keep saves ect. It's not compatible with the Veilguards

DA has a history of some interesting trailers... but come on, it's Varric and Harding! Of course it's going to be lighthearted lol. I am so excited to have Solas back so early in the game, and he does not look happy about those Evanuris getting out... that's Rook's bad so we're going to have to make it up to him.

Harding romance ftw, finally a romance for my Dwarf Maincharacter without the height difference. (Cutscenes are always awkward for Dwarfs) Btw this is still Frostbite, Unreal Engine 5 comes back for the next Mass Effect.

The tone of the official trailer *really* botched the hype because the gameplay looks pretty decent. That song makes it feel like you're playing Borderlands.

The song is the chorus to David Bowie's song "Heroes." I can't think of a more appropriate song for saving Thedas, once again. "I, I will be king And you, you will be queen Though nothing will drive them away We can be Heroes, just for one day We can be us, just for one day"

I'll do anything and everything in my power to save Solas from himself... I kinda don't care how far he goes as long as it can be fixed and the risks can be minimized. I'm delulu I know.

Dragon Age has form when it comes to terrible trailers, some of the DAO ones were awful and very much a product of the late 00s, didn’t affect the game though 😊

I would not put my hopes too high, for a happy ending with Solas. I mean, we all remember what he did in DAI, that backstabbing little egg. Just leaving a partner, not cool. Hence why i didn’t romance him ^^

If Solas dies in the first half of the game I might rage quit, my Lavellan needs closure.

I dont understand why people like this character, hes a basementdweller whom you slap around your dungeon. Then at the end of the game he comes out of the closet to reveal that HE WAS THE BAD GUY ALL ALONG. Like some Naruto final Arc villain....
