You're absolutely one of my all time favorite RU-vidrs. I have been watching your channel on repeat for several days. You've been keeping me company while I've been dealing with my alcoholism and severe depression, so thank you very much. For whatever reason, I've found your Hellraiser and John Carpenter reviews constantly rewatchable, even more than all your other excellent work. Thanks for helping me like you have.
In addition to Superman, the black guy with asthma is Khary Payton, who is the voice of Cyborg in Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go and the Injustice games. And he’s King Ezekiel in The Walking Dead.
It's funny how films never seem to point out how the Death tarot isn't meant to be ominous. It signifies endings and new beginnings, as well as transformation. Not teenager's getting murdered in dumb ways. 😑
I believe this is rooted in America's general fear of ... Well not sure actually but let's say 'Death'. To some, Death is the end and new beginnings, just like you say in Tarot. But it seems that for Americans, Death is a big negative stain which we can see in their love of the concept of self-annihilation in terms of " _if society falls, we all turn into animals_ " approach. At least, that's what I theorize.
Also, it's sad to see they ruin yet another horror movie villain by milking the franchise to death. I miss the original four Cenobites from the first two movies, Pinhead and Chatterer had so much more menace and terror.
There is a lot that could have been done with this series if after ( which ever movie you believe to be the last good one for me it's Inferno and I did like Hellseeker but I also know that they are viewed as bad by most fans) I would have loved to see them re visit Hellbond and find out more about the hell of that film. They could have done a movie where we see the pains and pleasure of hell and bring back the old cenobites and see what their purpose in hell was. They could have done a movie about past owners of the box that were of the same family kinda like Bloodlines only this one leads to Frank getting the box. Probably a lot of other things that could have been done if someone at the stodio cared enough to get anything about Hellraiser right. JS.
I remember the comics having some really good stories all the way back in the 80s and early 90s,. so why couldn't they find someone to write decent stories for the movies?
My thoughts about these additions to favorite franchises: Halloween: Resurrection = 1:23 Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare = 1:25 Saw 7 3D= 1:26 Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan = 1:28
After the terrible flicks from 5 to 7 I actually enjoyed this one. In fact I bet if it had been released a decade earlier it would have done pretty well.
+deusdeacon no rush man you have done a great job so far, new to your channel and i do like your reviews , only saw 1st 3 hell raisers so your reviews have saved me from the others
Friday the 13th almost made it. The first 3 movies were kinda boring. 4 - 7 were good. 8 & 9 are weird but have some cool scenes. 10 - 12 are complete shit.
Friday the 13th was on an upward trajectory until the seventh one. A far better track record than the vast majority of its contemporaries. Not even Star Wars can boast the same achievement.
@@deusdeaconReviews Also finally recognised Christopher Jacot as the nerdy guy who survives, one of those Canadian actors who appears in absolutely everything but you never quite remember.
"Most actors have a film that should be erased from their CV." For some reason, my mind went straight to Matthew McConaughey in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the next generation...
You just don't get it. The later Hellraiser films were an auture art experiment. Audience interaction ahead of their time. The producers could not rip viewers apart with bladed hooks, so they rend your soul with terrible movie ideas. I am as certain of this as I am of my own sarcasm and insincerity on this subject.
I discovered your channel recently and have been really enjoying your reviews. I feel like the only person alive who genuinely likes Hellworld - it's probably my favorite Hellraiser movie after the first two. I thought the story was fairly clever, and Lance Henriksen did a fantastic job as the villain. Also I thought the ending was pretty clearly saying that the last two teenagers had not in fact been rescued and had only imagined their escape, hence the significance of the shared hallucinatory appearance of Henriksen. That's much more in touch with the spirit of the movie than their ghost friend ridiculously calling the police. Maybe I liked this movie so much because my expectations were so low after Deader.
I have the DvD of Hellworld with Lance Henriksen talk commentary telling how the film was put together. I got it at Save A Lots for around $5. Still watch it from time to time. Mostly just for the commentary.
Still no Hellraiser 9. The last Hellraiser film I saw was the third one (in the theater), thought it was one of the shittiest movies ever... Well, now I know better!
great henry calville joke! I'm sure I'm misspelling his name, but he's really not worth a google search to find the correct spelling. I hope they never make a hell-raiser sequel again. why are they shitting on the original two films? Oh wait... empire strikes back, ghostbusters, underworld 1, the thing, ben hur...never mind, that was a stupid question,
Sometimes you get a bad movie and never seem to be in anything else. Given the script they had to work with I didn't think the actress who plays Chelsea in this was bad per say but didn't really have much to work with. Never seen her in anything else so I do wonder how she would have done if she was in something better.
I wanna say, that i thought that the son wasn't a *ghost* that called the coppers.. I was positive that his father brought him back by *solving the box* & got chopped in pieces.. Such thing happened in other Hellraiser movies, particularly the 1st one, Frank came back in similar way.. Maybe this director, got this idea and used it in his own way {the son came back with his flesh &skin --with no need to feed}.. Tho, the scene up on the window, the son actually looks as a ghost indeed, but i took for granted the *box's interference* 🙄..
Hang on, I thought the puzzle box was the Lament Configuration, but that one girl called it the Lamont Configuration. Does it have more than one name, or am I a complete berk?
ok so either he had a antidote for whatever drug he had or he didn't toch anything SOMEHOW ooooor locked the room or this method is bullshit stupid and the wrighters had no idea how to get everyone inot the movie and did it like this
Indeed, and in fact since making this video I've learned who Khary Payton Is, and have so much more respect for him, amazing voice actor/ actor and D&D player.
he sometimes joins the critical role game, if you don't know what critical role is and your interested in D&D even slightly you owe it to yourself to check them out on youtube
Khary Payton is a legend, At the time of the video I didn't know who he was but now I have so much more respect for the guy incredibly talented voice actor and on screen actor, but like I said in the video every actor has at least one piece of crap on the CV.
Yeah I think I can see why Doug Bradley decided to say fuck it after this one. Yes the first movie had some flaws but compared to this steaming pile horse crap it's a goddamn masterpiece.
I remember when first seeing this film I thought none of these actors will go far in their careers. Turns out i was only dead wrong about two of them; Henry Cavill who later plays Superman and Khary Payton who later plays King Ezekiel.
khary payton no contest love his work, and contributions to critical role, however with cavill I wouldve given Geralt as the perfect example, rather then the middling superman films.
You don't need to have the rights or permission to mention the title of another property in your film. They likely had her say Star Voyage instead of Star Trek because she is 'cool' and not some sci-fi nerd.
I hope you don’t go into film making thinking its that easy cause I can tell you now EVERYTHING needs rights and permissions, see a sign ? its had permission, if you hear a name chances are its had permission or at least been check to make sure its fine to use, because any brand can up and say “we don’t want to be associated with your product” and if you didn’t clear that and use it anyway you’ve got a lawsuit on your hands.
