The speech the major gives in the actual show is actually incredible it is chilling and dark. One of the best villian speeches ever.

Miss Rip Van Winkle was written as a deliberate parody of the "so random" girls who were becoming overplayed at the time the episode came out. Takahata mentioned in a random stream she was also meant to give off a sort of obnoxious weeaboo vibe.

I love the “No one will deny what we did” line.

London invasion in the original Hellsing Ultimate was one of my favorite anime moments of all time. It was so grand, so unexpected, so terrifying.

so, the sound issue with episode 4 is due to copyright issues. They used Shoot To Thrill by ACDC during Alucard's dive into the ship also, despite seeming like a fool, you can see Penwood went out like a GD badass.

Actually, that's the amazing part of Hellsing Abridged, as someone who saw both versions, the TFS version can legitimately be considered its own dub rather than just a parody. Don't get me wrong, it's still a parody at the end of the day, but the way it's all executed, once you go and watch the actual Hellsing Ultimate, you realize how accurate the show actually is, and how TFS's version is both funnier and more serious. Let's just say the OG is kind of bizarre with its sense of humor and toneshift. For example, when Penwood dies, there's a weird flashback of how Integra, at 10 years of age btw, puts him in his place and starts telling him she'll be just as much of a money waster than his father was. But then when Alucard kills Van Winkle, the entire army watches him kill her slowly and painfully but with the Nazis praising her as she died a glorious death for the war.

ch ch ch check your privilege! And yes, Alucard was in a lesbian relationship with Queen "Betty" Elizabeth.

The Major's War speech is one of the best monologues I've ever seen in an Abridged series and the War Speech itself in the anime is an EXCELLENT monologue itself. Also: "Leave that be. No one will deny what we did." One of the best jokes in the series.

A few funny details: - There's no intro in episode 5 because Alucard is not present, so who's there asking for a party? - This one tends to be a confusing part of the story because it only makes sense if you follow the mythology in it of itself. But the reason (s) why Alucard cannot get back by himself is because in the lore of his mythology, he needs something (no spoilers JUST IN CASE) that's inside the ship in order to have full access to his powers which are needed for this war, so it's his power source but also his anchor. -The confusing part tho is that vampires cannot travel around water because water is purifying by nature One Piece style LOL, the best he can do is use his power to essentially move the boat himself, however THAT is not something that neither Abridged nor the actual show explain, because this story takes full on inspiration from the original story about Dracula, to a point where they expect you to just know these things. But in terms of narrative, it does highlight how much of a 4D Chess Play The Major is pulling because HE has studied Alucard and his folklore with how he managed to essentially take away their OP card and now not only do we have a much better story, but characters have to actually step up because the MC is legit removed.

13:00 Nah, you guys are off by about eight to ten years or so. This was made post-lolsorandumb era, which is why those traits are being lampooned so hard in her. In particular, "The Cake is a Lie" would have been horrifically outdated as a meme, since it was only unironic during the half-year after the release of Portal 1. After that it was used ironically as a dog whistle to "locate real gamers like me" who can't control their memeing in public.

The English dub actor for Alucard is one of the greatest voices out there he also does itachi if you do check out the official your in for a treat

The Blackbird is truly a magnificent piece of aerospace engineering... and the dang thing was built when we were still using slide rules on the regular. And Alucard just destroyed one of 32 built.

Rip Van Winkle’s MLP related jokes of “Ponies and Friendship” and the “Wrapping up of Winter” are fitting for the “lol so random” type of girl she’s based after but I believe it’s also a bit of a meta reference to the fact Sera’s (Police Girl) voice actor was well known in the MLP fandom as he voiced multiple fan characters.

That last scene with Alucard in episode 5 was only there so Takahata101(the voice actor) could be credited for being in all 10 episodes.

Abridged Millenium might just be my favorite villain organisation of all times. The Akatsuki don't got shit on them.

The voice of The Major is the same guy who did Piccolo, Vegeta, Krillin, Mr. Popo, and Master Roshi in DBZ Abridged. That's his amazing range that he has as a voice actor and it's still only a portion of his voice work.

I can assure you none of that alcohol was spilled, we just filmed that for the suspense effect, we had a bucket beneath the glass, and after the drop, the Captain catched the glass. And the Liuetenant drank from the bucket, in what you call a King's Cup, I believe. In Germany we call it a Hexengebräu or Witches' Brew. It's when you mix several different alcoholic beverages and drink the result, it's originally from Sweden.

Something I want to point out about Anderson. Before he wrote Hellsing, Kouta Hirano wrote a hentai manga called Angel Dust which featured a character simply named Anderson. Many people in the fandom, myself included, believe that Angel Dust’s Anderson and Hellsing’s Alexander Anderson are one and the same. TFS even makes references once in a while that imply the same for the Abridged version: a nazi calls him The Angel’s Dust and TFS made a Hamilton song parody that details Abridged Anderson’s backstory which has references to that hentai including, but not limited to, a quick line from a female voice that isn’t from the show saying “Me? I loved him.”

So something to note: there was no intro song for episode 5. There's no party without Alucard.

When you go to watch "the original", know that this is based on Hellsing Ultimate- not the first release of Hellsing

If you're gonna watch the original, I actually recommend the Dub because they do the accents.

This anime was like during 2009-2011 (just from my memory), and this version of Queen Elizabeth II was in her late 60's who had a relationship with Alucard during late WWII. And Alucard did change into the form of a lollie vamp waifu, but it was never specified when. But for all we know, this version of Elizabeth II could be bisexual.

The use of classical music in this abridged is some of the best I've ever seen in any production of any kind. "I want world war 3!" Queue MARS (god of war) form Holst, The Planets. Not to mention Grieg's In The Hall Of The Mountain King for the fight on the ship. Both are glorious and perfectly suited to their use here.

I love the reference with the cat boy cahrecter. His name is Schrodinger as in 'schrodingers cat'...basically a kinda out there German scientist/philosopher who had the idea to put a cat in a sealed box with no air and asked the question 'is the cat alive or dead' and basically theorized that it was both alive and dead, untile you open the box to confirm one or the other...so the cat boy technically can't be killed as he is both alive and dead

So on the year episode 4 came out, Easter landed on 420, hence the sign

It's funny what you said at the beginning, Hellsing Ultimate Abridged really feels like you're watching an episode of Helluva Boss! But yeah, the original is on the other level and you really need to watch it. I'd recommend you to watch on English Dub cause the VA who portrays Alucard, Integra and even The Major are flawless! One more thing, I really recommend you to watch Cyberpunk Edgerunners! You really need to watch it cause it's so amazing for many reasons!

You noticed that they released an episode every year, and that was intentional. The actual Hellsing Ultimate show was released one episode a year because of the quality of animation that went into it. The original Hellsing show tells more of the story, but Ultimate goes into the big events with much more raw detail as you can see.

26:47 iirc I read somewhere before that the way you draw contrast between a hero and a villain is by how sharp you draw the villain and how rounded heros look. Sharply drawn characters will subconsciously make us think of blades which we know can hurt us. I think a lot of animes are using more rounded features on villains which plays on our empathy and humanizes them.

Fun fact, once Alucard is on the ship it stops playing "Party Party Party" as the intro song.

For an abridged parody dub, T4S manage to include alot of references to Vlad the Impaler/Dracula in reference to Alucard. They wanted to make it very clear who exactly the MC is.

Rip’s death/impalement in the actual anime is pretty infamous for just how long and drawn out it is. Pretty sure TFS mentioned they only kept 1/5 of the actual impaling part in their version. I even remember watching it myself and being like “holy shit, has Alucard killed her yet???”

With the Rip Van Winkel fight I feel a little bit sad that they had to cut the original music out because it was an exerp from the Opera Freischütz where the story littlery revolved around bullets that never missed their target (and contracts with the devil) This fight ignited my love for opera and the night where I actually went to watch the Freischütz in the Semper Oper in Dresden (germany) was one of the greatest nights in my Live. Als Rip is hot af.

So I got to see episode 4 when it was first posted on their channel all those years ago. It totally was music thru out. This was back when copyright wasn't so strict on youtube I believe. They had to edit cause obviously in years after they got slammed and had episodes taken down. BUT when this first came out, I tell you the music like ACDC hit so hard this episode was fire! The music choices they made for their abridged episodes were so smart and fit so well. Then add in some amazing one liners in these episodes! "Who wants Daddy's belt?" from Walter always makes me happy, its such a power line. And the Major's line "Contain the calamity that is your mammaries" aka "Calm your tits". I have used this line several times back in the day. And this 3 liner from Sir Penwood "Where you see one man, I see four! When you get to hell, tell 'em Penwood sent you! And then apologize on my behalf for the inconvenience!" Such a baller move. Also its 10 episodes, so your half way thru.

somebody probably already said it but this anime is made by kouta hirano he does the art. he has another anime called drifters. his art style is amazing.

The historical person Alucard is based on was sent to the Moorish empire in Spain as a hostage for over 10 years, where he was very abused. So yeah, he had reason to kill his father for that.

at the end of each manga you get a short comic about the 2 escariot members you met this episode, they are pretty fun little add ons to the books

I was introduced to the abridged before watching the original show so it was definitely a wild transition, but I still recommend watching it when you get a chance.

The war comment was in reference to the war in the anime vs the food waste in the anime. It's a sentiment indicative of someone that's gone hungry before. And in the off chance he meant war in the real world, i too share that sentiment as natural selection seems to have abandoned its rightful rule over the planet.

I don't really know what the order would be if I ranked things now... Berserk would still be #1 cause I don't see anything topping it but mein gat! This series is so fucking badass!
