Thanks to everyone for keeping comments civil. This cover (like many covers come to think of it) is very polarizing. You love it or hate it. If you like the track: sweet! If you don't: thats ok ;)
The STP cover of Dancing Days was indeed a very noteworthy cover--usually bands screw stuff like that up but coming from a dedicated Zeppelin fan, it rocked.
I really miss the 90s for stuff like this. Todays groups can hardly make their own songs yet cover any... Aahhhhh ... Love 90s covers, Stone Temple Pilots' Dancing Days, Hole's golddust women,
Johnny Cash said that a great song is a great song no matter the version. I just love this cover for its raw power and dirty guitar riff as I love the original for Björk's voice and style.
I love Bjork's version obviously, but Helmet's version is VERY well done. I wish iTunes would make it available. It had a lot of good music on from the mid-late 90's. I miss the music from my early teens, music in contrast today BLOWS!!! There is stuff out there, you just have to really search it out. Back in the 90's it was everywhere. Pop, hip/hip, gangsta rap has been the death of modern artistic music. I not for bands still around like Faith No More, Ministry, Melvins, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, NIN, Tool, Primus, Helmet, and some other really great underground bands..."good" music would have NO heartbeat. P.S. There are other great bands still around that I didn't mention, but you get the idea.
i tought it was the opposite, that Björk was who made the cover...i have these LP and it has lot of great tunes like "gremmy out of control" played by pearl jam or "california sun" by the ramones...great job for the best nature ONG ever made, surfrider foundation
