Are you shooting with both eyes open? Chasing perfection is a daily grind. I started putting more emphasis on my form and release than I have anything else. Thank the Lord my accuracy has improved exponentially. Good luck brother and God Bless

Dude that's the truth! Building up good habits is priceless. Personal I am looking shooting with both eyes open. But the last 3 years of shooting I had been closing my left eye so I'm learning to balance the shooting at close and ling range to get the hange of using both eyes. And it feels way more comfortable with two eyes. But I still go back to one eye at times. So again working to build solid habits is the daily struggling.
@jesselapinski5641

Chasing that perfect is tough, specialty archery makes a double vision scope kit no pin circles around the dot different sizes, overthinking the eye thing, back tension release might really reset you. Good analogy on the bows perfect way to explain it. U shooting v tacs for target? 23,25,27 you’ll be slayin dots with those, can’t all be good days. The lord gives you trials to make u better ,stronger! Keep pushin!

@@jesselapinski5641 Dude yeah I'll definitely have to check that pin system out. Right now I'm just using my old axis 5mm I used awhile back. But yeah I want to get done V-Tac Elites. I'm not sure if I want to go 23 first and get 27 later. I'm tossed on them because I want to see 27 for indoor but some tournaments wouldn't let me use them for out door nor do I really want to shoot that fat of an arrow out doors anyways. But idk,time will tell. For the time being I'm doing research slowly to figure out what I want. And that way when the money is in the bank account I can make the jump. I used mine in both been tension and thumb. 90% but I flip it to hinge most the time in times like now.... But..... I've been having so much fun with the new toy I just want to shoot it in a way that's most comfortable to me. And thanks man, I'm just trying to take it one step at a time and build on what I feel like I've been called to be. So where God takes me is where he takes me. But until then I'm going to just keep falling in love with the process.

Just throwing this out there - no idea if it will work for you. When I have this issue, I have a set of polarized shades I put on (flat to my face) and it dims the glare, but still shows the brilliance of the pin somehow. Dunno if this is just this particular set of glasses, just me, or the polarized lens. As far as the pin/eye focus thing, you may consider placing a "Verifier" lens in your peep? I personally do not focus the pin/target immediately at full draw...there's a pause. I cant tell how far that target is but for 30yds - looks like you shoot very well my man. 95% of the guys at my range can't hit dot targets at 30.
@walderman55
@walderman55 2 месяца назад
Dude thanks for the polorized trick. I'll have to try some of my shades that have polorized lenses next time it happens and see if that helps at all. I'm really curious. And yeah man I take a lot of pride in shooting pretty well. I want to be able to hit the dots more often then I miss then even at 50 yards. Especially with magnification. It feels like cheating how clear I can see now. Especially going from a multi pin to a single pin.

A nice tip I use in open country hunting when there’s tons of light is always keeping gaffers tape with you. (duct tape works fine it just leave more tack on your scope when it’s hot) I use it to cover the fiber on your sight to darken up your pin a bit so it’s not light on light but your pin will be a bit darker and contrast on a bright target. I just warp some around a scrap piece of arrow shaft and keep it in my bino harness. Love the content man, not sure where in the country you’re from but if you ever roll through NE I’d love to shoot/film something!

Dude that's interesting. I've never thought about that at all. That makes sense. Opposites rather then trying to best it out. Dude thanks for tip. I'm going to find a way to do that and see if I like that. Also I'm out in TN but dude if we find a way to link up I'm all for it for sure. That would be fun for sure.

To counter act the sight issue.... don't. Archery is more about feel then aim if you can see the target no need to see the pin. "Just let the bow shoot itself" stop aiming! I have co-dominant eyes (sounds like you do too) that's a blessing once you stop worrying about the pin. As a tip on the title I'll say this, the title in my experience (work at mathews had it basically since release) I've found the bow likes a lot of rear weight. Took me months to figure this out but ever since I did it holds amazing. My title feels unbalanced when just holding it but at draw it's a ROCK! If the bow is new to you or you are new to a target rig just work out the feel maybe some boring ole blank bailing is in order. Enjoy the journey!

Dude I have the same problem with eye focusing.. but I have known I am left-eyed since before I shot bows, I was just given righty hand-me-downs for awhile and got used to closing my left eye! I have noticed over time that I have trained my right eye to be able to take over but it is just like you said. I have to close my left eye to focus, this year I am noticing that if it creeps open it doesn't affect my shot as bad as it used to! I might still miss by 1/2-1inch L/R but it used to be 2-4inches. I just got a mathews lift 33 and am used to generic hunting bows.. so I can also sympathize with your struggles of letting the bow shoot itself! It's such a dream when I let it do its thang but not automatic yet!

Haha yeah I said it and I was like that fits. I did not plan to say that but from a stereotype idea it fit What it it is to shoot a 70% left off compared to a 80% perfectly. but then I was also afraid to offend someone. So I almost cut it out of the final video. Glad someone else agreed with me.

For the grip isue I would sudgest using the bow bare for a while and feel where does the hand naturally wants to stay in the bow. Once you get that done the grip would be only necesary for the rain and the sweat and it would help with torque in the bow.

What color fiber are you shooting i shoot a blue and it really helps with not washing out and it does not starburst like other colors on really bright days

I actually just went to a clear fiber so I can use a light to use blue red and green. And I'm curious about if one works better. So I'll definitely check out the blue on the light target and see if that helps out

What kind of pin setup are you using? I usually use an "up pin" with no lense, and if the target washes out my pins, I try to use the pin stalk as a front sight and I might have to draw on a spot where I can see and "acquire" it, and then point it towards my intended point of impact. Eye dominance: this is an interesting one for me, because I'm naturally left handed with a sprinkling of ambidexterity (I shoot handguns left handed, throw right-handed, and i can swing a golf club from both sides). I'm also left-eye dominant, and I shoot bows right handed with both eyes open. How TF does that all work? I was taught to shoot long guns right-handed because left handed equipment was not readily available and eye-dominance was not something we knew about. So, without knowing it, I managed to train my brain to focus through my right eye. Sometimes when I'm shooting (particularly when I'm looking through a small aperture) my left eye tries to take over, and I have to close it so my brain refocuses on what my right eye is seeing, and then I can open it again. So it's not unusual when you have cross-dominance to need to close one eye and get your mind focused on what the open one is seeing. It can also happen when your dominant eye is obstructed and your non-dominant eye has a clearer picture of what you're looking at.
@walderman55
@walderman55 3 месяца назад
Regarding my pin set up, I'm running a 15 with a 4 power lense in a 29mm Optum with it in the up position. I'm going to mess around with a side and top down as well soon to see if I like that sight picture more. And yeah that's super real I've definitely done the off the target thing as well but I honestly hate to do that. It feels like so much extra movement. I'm trying to simplify... But....😢 If that's what I need to keep doing then it's what I will do. And dude that all make perfect sense to me. And now makes sense why people use those blinders on the hats. I mean to a point. But Id think that is probably a reason why they use it. Ps reading your ambidextrous situation was very insightful and pretty entertaining, you are one interesting man. We gotta link up one day. Maybe even at a tac and shoot a course one day.
@aar510

You need to figure out if your like shooting with one eye open or both, and stuck with it. As for the bright target, most competitive archers use a dot or combination of dot and fiber. It lets you light your dot/ fiber in low light, or turn it off and it's a black dot during bright light situations. I wrapped mine in tennis/ batters grip. Cheap off Amazon. Hope this helps.

Hmmm normally people only have one dominant eye and they can naturaly aim with both eyes open and dont have a "foccus" problem. My self when i start shooting sometimes i would aim with my left eye and that would blow the shot completeley. What i did for a long time was shooting closing one eye. But I decide to work on it lately and the way I doit is closing the other eye focus and then open the other eye, ar first feels super weird but i think that having the periferal vision on the field is worth it. Sorry for all the text hope it works for you :)

Dude nice catch. I always wonder if people are watching that when I post videos. It's gotten even worse when I shoot the title it's like I'm trying to guide the arrow instead of just pulling through the shot. It's definitely a habit I'm trying to break! Isn't punching the goal? 💪🏾👍🏾🤷🏾‍♂️ Haha but yeah I've noticed as I mentioned in the video, I'm legit forcing this bow to shoot instead of letting it shoot. When I actually pull through my shot it feels great but other shots it's like a weird hesitation. Definitely not shooting this bow well just yet. But that's the joy of figuring it all out. @@walderman55time to go full Turner, this is where his system comes into play. Your going automatic sometimes and shot process some times. And with the blown out target picture....yeah that's the worst, you can try a smaller peep to let less light through on bright days. Lots of times if your peep is on the edge of perfect halo inside, it'll be a bit "oversized" outside, so if you're misaligned peep to housing because of the extra light you could be hitting low. Same as coming out of your peep a bit on long shots
@walderman55
@walderman55 2 месяца назад
@@the_sharp_carpenter dude for sure. It's why we practice to build a system that makes sense. And yes the peep being adjustable definitely helps with the alignment. I'll have to adjust it more often with indoor and outdoor shooting. Thanks for the reminder
