As someone who has been making their own OC Transformer via 3D printing, if you go for something pose-able, I’d recommend staying away from ball joints. While it CAN work in some senses, more often then not it’ll break or be too loose. So be cautious there. Other then that…if you’re displaying it in the shop, maybe go for something more recognizable or something odd. I personally vote for the Botanica if you’re okay with Balljoints, or the Seekers and give it a custom paint job in your colors or something! That be fun!
That BW megatron could be interesting and would work with the ROTB film coming out. I wonder if it’s possible there’s a G1 combiner team to print, those are pretty simple figures idk if there’s proper files of them to do.
I liked that botanica, scorponok, sari, and the depticon tank Funbiestudios has made 3d minicons for the Legacy characters that lack their minicon partners (which is awesome) I've also seen some interesting cassette ocs by servo industries on shapeways
If your printer is having issues, try a different type of plastic- PLA is the best in my experience. Calibrate, clean your nozzle, make sure the table isn't being shaken, and that your PLA is dry(cook in oven) because that can also cause lots of issues. My vote goes to omega supreme.
PrintFormer's stuff is always great whenever I see people printing them out, there's also Marvel Comics versions as well. But my vote's going towards the Prime\Ginrai mash up! Love the godbomber armor!! (Chants of DJ Scooter getting louder in the distance)
DaBombDiggity aka decepticon tank guy makes awesome simple transformers. And Hightail creations! Or you could just take a page from me and make the Animated Marauder Megatron😂 He’s not as difficult to make as you might think
I 3D printed a G1 styled optimus prime that actually transforms and also 3D printed a trailer for him. It’s pretty loose since it required no assembly.
I like the Beast Wars Megatron and the Cosmos. I think it would be fun to have a little transformable piece as a video. I also like the sword collection, if you were able to print them to scale with 5mm ports, you could bring in a bunch of transformers and have them showing off their new weapons.
keep some sand paper handy! i learned recently as a beginner that 10ish minutes of sanding does a lot to smooth prints and remove any marks from supports. it really makes my stuff that little bit nicer :-)
If I were to ever get a 3D printer, I'd go for characters needed in my collection. As such, Botanica has my vote; Signal Lancer being another cool entry. That said though, mini Omega Supreme... or giant Cosmos are amusing yet awesome choices!
Recently I've been getting recommendations for a Japanese channel that does a lot of 3D printing stuff, ranging from Transitron from Toy Story of Terror to a Sentai Artisan-style Accelchanger from Carranger.
My vote is for Botanica, out of everything you showed me that's the one thing I most want to see. I've probably been out voted already and this video was already 2 days old by the time I got around to watching it. I've been busy... but I REALLY want to see that Botanica.
Start something small and simple. Maybe some weapons that'll take advantage of the 5mm ports. There's also replacement hands for Combiner Wars Combiners.
TJ, what printer do you have? I'd recommend against the print in place tank until you get the printer dialed in. The God Jinrai looks neat, I may try that on my printers. That Cosmos is awesome!
