It’s not a ‘friendly ghost’ when you are throwing prints away on a regular basis. HP should not be making a machine on a 4th generation that does this, not good enough.
i cant believe even the new models still do this crap!!!! hp is really pathetic for this! i wouldnt tell anyone i work for them! ive had the same problem with me 560 for years! even after paying $2400 to get support for a year they couldnt fix it!
Hp 700w owner here. The machine is far from perfect. It's faster, that's about it. Can't even do double sided printing!!! I feel robbed. I can't believe they didn't incorporate double sided printing when previous generations do. And yes, everyone says 3ft of material isn't a lot?! Really ?! The material waste, quirks, and limits of this machine suuuuuucks.
this happens as a result of the heat inside the curing module, combined with the inherent curl of the material. if the material has a good curl to it, it won't lay flat as it is moving down into the curing module. the heat and fans combined with the curl of the material will suck the material to the top of the curing module where the ink will get smeared. to prevent this, typically you can just roll the material out until it is sticking out of the bottom of the curing module as he did in the video. on rare occasions/materials when that isn't enough, you must attach the material to the take-up reel before starting the print so that the take-up reel is applying tension to material and preventing it from getting too close and sucked up by the fans inside the curing module. Yes, you will waste 3-5 feet of material to start a print depending on whether the take-up reel is needed but it'll save your prints. also 5' of waste is negligible if you nest or print multiple jobs at a time.
Don't listen to his gibberish, if you want to go insane buy this GARBAGE printer, HP latex 365 or 360 is the worst printer on the planet, you should be given your money to children hospital and you will more satisfy doing that, EPSON is the King of all KINGS period.👎
Most of the time, rolling it out past the door does the trick. You can use the media feed accessory as well (with about 12" waste off front) if you have one. But I get complaints about the waste. But every once in a while, this happens even with the media hanging off the front. This is an outlier, random, and odd. Never quite figured out the cause. But it does happen. I suspect static electricity and media curl from frontload, IMO. Thanks for watching and commenting.

This unfortunately happens almost on a daily basis. I've tried all i can think of and it still happens. Its a damn shame wasting literal yards and yards of material.
My HP Latex 115 started doing this. I think it depends on material and how the material acts during certain temps. usually my first print is good, then my next one will rub if i don't stick something inside the heat element to guide the material down.
I get this only on transparent vinyl like you are printing in this video. My dragging is not vertical but left and right directional scratches. What I found as a solution is tie that sort of material on the end roll. If I leave just hanging it will happen.

Why can't HP just set the heater elements higher so that when the media warps under the element it doesn't rub against the top??? Alot of wastage when you have to roll media out the front to help 'solve' this issue. Not good for the environment.

As a 570 owner this excuse doesn't cut it , test your machines properly before launching, I hear 7 and 800 s are no different, also crap non responsive screen l26500 and 360 better machines

depending on the material, some can shrink or stretch as it heats up. you can print a defined size like 36"x36" art, measure what size it actually prints and most RIP software's have a scale setting for different media profiles, you enter those dimensions of art and dimensions that it printed and it will scale the art automatically for that media everytime you print to that substrate.

😂 this is not a ghost, this is poor engineering. 700 and 800 series are a giant step backwards in HP printers. Regarding replacing my 560 to 700 W every single workday 🤦🏻
