The day after my surgery we need to move our boat 19 miles in one trip, from Liverpool to Burscouh, I can't do any lifting or pushing and we need help from our friends. My husband and I live in the United States. We pay $600 per month for health insurance. The procedure you had would have likely cost us a couple thousand dollars, even with insurance. For a country who like to brag about "Christian Values", we surely exhibit very few.

Every time a politician starts talking about moving Canada toward a more US style healthcare system, I vote for their opposition. I lived in the US for 5 years and noticed that for folks with families managing their health insurance companies was like another full time job…even I couldn’t believe it when the insurance company seemed to randomly disallow coverage for a prescription they approved and I had been taking for over a year …there was always something,

We were really lucky to be near the eye hospital Crichie. We have rescheduled for June. Cant wait. Glad you enjoyed. It has been hectic but glad he is on the mend. Have a fabulous week ❤️

Totally agree Anthony. We've been so lucky to have had the NHS all our lives. I was thinking about you last week when I went for an ultrasound on my shoulder - still healing from that fall. I've been given brilliant treatment all the way along including fantastic physiotherapy all free. ❤

This vlog is a brilliant gentle comedy based upon the enjoyment of life. You two appear to be mastering the art of choosing how to perceive things rather than simply reacting to them. Another amazing video guys. gosh what a hectic week you have had. Hope you're feeling better Paul after the trauma with your poor eye. I must say I am really enjoying the series Narrow Escapes and it was even more special because you two were part of it. It's a great series and so interesting to see other people and how they live their lives on the water. The animal art exhibition was brilliant. Paul your art is absolutely stunning, you are very talented. I think you will both be ready for a rest and break in Paris in June after all your adventures. Love to gorgeous Dexter. Thanks Louise. It really was a hectic boat. Paul is getting there but his sight isn’t completely back then. I loved how they filmed Narrow Escapes. Really good mix of people. The exhibition was amazing. So much talent under one roof. We will most definitely be ready for Paris. We have Crick first. Bless Dexter: they do take more looking after as they get older don’t they. Isn’t it amazing how things always happen at the same time! The main thing is your eye is sorted Paul and you can both get away in the Autumn and have a fabulous time. Paul, I hope your eye is healing properly & that your vision has greatly improved! (A retinal detachment repair is a fairly big eye surgery).😮 You had a very valid excuse for your fall - with just one eye, your depth perception & balance are definitely affected! Yes, I think too many people in UK forget how much medical services cost in places like the US. Even with expensive insurance our out of pocket expenses can be huge ! And for some medical expenses can be disastrous. BTW Paris in the fall is absolutely gorgeous.

in Australia in 1972 Medibank was introduced as a National Health Scheme but tinkered with over the decades and original concept lost maybe our new government could be trying to get back to the original intention if the opposition allows them

Glad to hear that you are on the mend Paul. What a blessing to have have first rate nurse ( Anthony ) lucky 💙 I’m from USA and boy do I wish we had something like the NHS. I pay over grand monthly just for my medical insurance and then there are out of pocket expenses if the insurance does not cover something.. 😢, yes- wishing we had NHS.

That was some miles to go with crew member Paul on virtually no duties, great to have good friends.The route did look lovely. Oakhams have been brilliant helping and fiixing with the boats needs. The exhibits we saw in the Association of Animal Artists looked incredible. I'll be sad when Narrow Escapes finished next week, it has been very interesting with some characters --Sam the bike repair man springs to mind lol Nearly Crick, hope to "bump" into you three on the Sunday, enjoy your week upto that xxx

Hi guys and Dexter Never done this before and not very technical so forgive me if it goes wrong. We found you by accident going through RU-vid and were hooked. What a really interesting week of travels you both had. It would have been better without the eye problems Paul and I hope all is completely well now. I had a similar eye experience, and hospital stay, a number of years ago with almost losing my eye after cataract surgery in my thirties. It’s so boring when you can’t watch TV or read. That’s when I discovered audio books and have never gone back to print.

Glad you're on the mend. I agree how lucky we with the NHS my son was on holiday in the USA when he had a nose bleed which wouldn't stop. two. day's in hospital $26000 just as well he had travel insurance

I am sure Paris will be such as beautiful in the Fall. Take it easy Paul. Falling down on the towpath can’t be good for your body or your eye the day after surgery!! Take care of yourself. Hey Kathy. He got a telling off that day. He could have just stayed put and waited. I think the programme may be available in 🇺🇸 in the future. We did have fun filming. We have parted company with Tony and Karen but we are now with Saul and Debbie. We have also met up with Neil and Cheryl who we haven’t seen for almost 2 years. We have had some fun evenings. 😊. Hello Paul, Anthony and Dexter Dog, Paul, I’m glad you're OK after you slipped on the mud, good job you fell on your right side, as had it been on your left side you may have ended up in the canal. Yikes! I remember back 60+ years ago St Pauls’ in Liverpool were at the top of their game then. Very pleased you’re getting better. I always find it interesting when you talk about your electric consumption. I suppose it’s a bit like your water usage, with the electric do you adopt the same strategy re: only use electric when really needed. Are you able to cut down? Cooking has to be done, and who would not want Anthony to stop cooking his amazing meals? You and Oakhams have been amazing together. Should CRT start installing charging points along the canal? Because electric boats are the future. But having said that, Diesel boats will be phased out, but it might be a different energy source and not electric that becomes the preferred power supply. You will love Paris when you eventually get there. It’s such an amazing place. Lovely cruise. Good to see Mummy Duck with all her children. Nature can be so wonderful. Sharing a bed conversation with Anthony was really funny. Paul, a Great exhibition. Well done on that. Good to see you with other known YT boaters on the launch of Narrow Escapes. Hey Spoolbox. We are so lucky that Paul got to have his eye done at St Paul’s. It is slowly getting there. We are lucky that we can use pretty much what we want electric wise. I do think charge points may become the norm along the canals. I can’t wait to visit Paris. Never been before so looking forward to exploring. Nature is amazing and we do feel closer to it on the boat. The exhibition was fabulous. So much talent under one roof. We had an amazing time filming for channel four. Oh, didn’t know that re cruising Alba. Haven’t seen their vlogs in a while. Glad you enjoyed and hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️

I think Anthony that you had better wrap Paul in bubble wrap for a while what with his detached retina and falling on the towpath you’ve had quite the time. So glad to see he’s getting better and hope you make the Paris trip in the not too distant future. Your artwork is beautiful mr man 👍 I had my detached ret op 40 years ago at the old St Paul’s… I was 21… the youngest on the ward by about 40 yrs! 😂 it was an old Nightingale ward … so kinda Dickensian … but was a good hospital… had another eye op in the old Royal … it was excellent… I’m an ex NHS nurse so I’m glad you had a good experience. And yer man has looked after you… my ex was an A&E nurse… I nearly cut my finger off… she just told me to not bleed on the floor 🤷‍♀️😂…fab video too! 👍

Paul, I hope your eye is all better now! My dog doesn't have any joint issues, but she's a big girl, & I stir a capsule's worth of a turmeric & ginger root supplement into her food once a day as an anti-inflammatory. (Don't know if Dexter would like this in his food, but it sounds like the shots he's getting are doing him good). Anthony, I'm sorry you had to put off your birthday trip to Paris, but I'll bet when you do go, it will be a great experience. Thanks for the vlog! 💖💖💖

Hey Nicholas. We are made up with Narrow Escapes. Fingers crossed Paul’s sight comes back fully. Dexter is incredible. We can see him really slowing but he really good for his age. 😂, can you imagine him letting me dye his fur 😂. We do feel like things have improved. Lovely video as usual, hopefully your eye is totally healed up now Paul, the animal art was just stunning, so much artistic talent on show👍🏼. Glad they let you change your hotel for June, Paris in June should be great, they’ve had a slow spring with loads of rain so hopefully it will be nice and sunny . Not much new this week here, I’ve been checking out stained glass patterns trying to find one I really like and have the space to display. I’ve started to plant a few flowers, I’m going to make a pretty garden where Jynx is buried. I’ve been reading, doing my crafts, looking after grandkids and all the animals for a few days while daughter and son in law have travelled for their respective jobs. Two dogs, Loki is a Golden Doodle and as big as a pony, if he gets loose he heads strait for the ocean which is two houses away past us. It’s a real worry because he’s not that bright and runs right across the highway that runs along the ocean and he’s so big I can’t even walk him never mind convince him to get out of the water. It’s a big mess to clean him up too😳. Two cats with 3 litter boxes, a fish, a Gecko who also likes to escape, he was loose in the house for about 6 months last time. There were no spiders to be seen all that time so that was a plus, he was discovered under the fridge eventually. Enjoy your weekend and your trip to Paris🥰🙋🏼‍♀️

Guys I’m sorry I’m just not as trustworthy as you, I question if I brought a boat the same and not having a RU-vid channel with thousands of followers would I have received the same service, I don’t trust businesses that much. OK rant over. Paul I’m sorry this has happened to your eye, sure it’s healing which is brilliant but hell it’s inconvenient and you’re so upbeat, guess you have moments though but on the whole you seem to be handling it so well. Anthony you’re a great partner and brilliant support and super handy as you also have the medical knowledge to understand what’s happening. Another brilliant vlog guys, loved it. Love to the three of you, and no more falls please Paul as the jerk my do damage to the eye. See you soon. 💕

Hey Pauline. You may well be right re the level of service. Paul has been frustrated at times with his eye. He has had to put his pet commissions on hold. Glad I have been around though to help. Glad you enjoyed the vlog. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️

Lovely vlog guys. Paul I hope your eyes improving day by day. Lovely to see Dexter trotting along in the tow path. Labrella is amazing. Dot does get the squits with it it seems but immodium and protexin help it sort itself out. And you’ve still got Paris to look forward to which was good news. Brilliant. Ah! 🗡️ All jokes aside Bev & I wish you a speedy relief from your suffering Paul, I know just how frightening it is when you have a problems with your eye or eyes so pleased to see how well you took the disappointment of a delayed birthday present Paris We were going to recommend that restaurant on the canal side but it wasn’t called KAIZENS when we dined there It’s always nice to see you at points of the canal system we know very well
