Helping a fellow YouTuber (Mira - Peeling Away the Clutter) with her bathroom

Last week you saw the transformation of Mira's kitchen. This week, I am tackling her bathroom. Mira has a RU-vid channel called "Peeling Away the Clutter" which she started in August of this year and she has been working on decluttering her home one small space at a time after years of chronic disorganization. She has made some amazing progress on her own, but there are things she simply cannot do due to back issues and other health challenges, so, since I also live in Utah, she reached out to me a few weeks ago to see if there was any way I would be able to come help her with her kitchen and bathroom. I was thrilled to be part of furthering her decluttering journey and getting her home, which she loves a lot, back into livable shape. She has been so inspirational to so many since she started her channel a couple of months ago and has an amazing amount of strength to be able to pull herself out of the funk she has been in for so long and to start making some better habits for herself. She has such an infectious laugh and I know you will just love the person she is.

I don't care what you used to clean my bathroom, I don't think the floor has ever been so clean, even when I moved in! And there was one spot on the tub that every other cleaner I've used said they couldn't get out--but you did. I am so, so grateful for all the hard work you did, and for the lovely gift of a table and chairs from you and your subscribers! You are such generous people. Love you! Oh, I forgot to add. My mom has lung cancer and was in the hospital with pneumonia. She is home now.

I think the disclaimer is a wonderful idea just to cut down on any annoying comments telling you that you’re doing it wrong. I’ve been cleaning houses for about 18 years now, and I’ve never seen you do anything that has made me think, “Wow, that’s a bad way to do it!”

A lot of people in the comments are saying that it's not necessary, but I am absolutely going to keep putting it at the beginning of my videos because the comments on this video so far have already improved so much. I whole heartedly agree! However, I have to add that once I was cleaning my concrete tile kitchen floor and I didn’t have a scraper. But I did have an old broken potato peeler and I used that to get the hard gunk up. Your comment made me laugh til I cried. 😂😂😂

I found you through your video cleaning Mira’s kitchen and now just watched Mira’s video of her kitchen and now this and Mira seems like such a sweet person and I am so proud of her for being so vulnerable and accepting this help. I don’t care if you clean things 100% the most efficient or best way unless you completely ruined someone’s home the help you are providing seems invaluable. Not only are you cleaning the space but you seem so caring and compassionate and understanding.

I am way too thin-skinned to be able to accept the kinds of criticism and judgement you content creators are subjected to. I admire you for rising above it and continuing to do what you do. You are a blessing to those you help, and you're the one actually doing the work so I don't understand the complaints. Here's an idea for a future disclaimer: To anyone who feels the need to comment on my cleaning methods and the products and tools I use for the job I say untie the piano from your butt and start your own channel to show us all how it's done and don't let the screen door hit you on the way out.

Bonnie you really have to stop worrying about peoples comments about what products or processes you use. If they think they know better they are welcome to come and do the cleaning for you! I think most of us are just so appreciative of the work you do to help Mira and others and we dont care how its done but value the fact that you give your time and energy to help someone in need. On and off through my lifetime I have cleaned other people’s house whether for money or to help those who needed help, one thing I have learnt is that make your tools and cleaners to do the work for you. Since you are cleaning homes that have more built grime than home that are regularly maintained, you might want to consider brushes that work in cordless drills, they have several levels of stiffness in the brushes, which could save you from having medical issues down the road from repetitive scrubbing. I am sure that you helping people clean their spaces helps them feel so much better, you are doing something so special.

Wow, one of the biggest gifts I gave myself when I inherited some money was to replace the windows in my house. No more dog barking waking me in the middle of the night. And no more howling sounds when the wind blows. Now I don't know if it is windy unless it blows something against the house or I look out the window.

Also recently realized I was autistic in the last few years after my son's diagnosis and I am also a picker. My mom always shamed me for it and I thought it was just something shameful and weird I did... took me reading about other autistic people doing it to realize it's a thing people do.

Yeah, isn't that interesting? I always felt a lot of shame for my picking as well, especially when it was blemishes on my face and I would pick them to the point of scarring. My wounds take so long to heal because I just can't leave them alone! The antidepressant that I'm on also helps with OCD, which is kind of what the picking is, and it does help a lot because it used to be much worse, but it's still something I'm sure I will always deal with.😊🤷‍♀️

I cleaned houses for years. Whenever I started cleaning for a new client, I always used toilet bowl cleaner on the sinks, tubs, tile grout and even the faucets if they were cruddy. They thought I was a miracle worker 😁. It is too bad that you feel the need to ‘explain’ yourself. Do what works for you! Ignore the mean/rude people! Oh my word.. who cares HOW you clean 🤦🏽‍♀️ these people obviously trust you and your ways enough to let you clean their homes, and you’re obviously helping them tremendously. You are MORE than what you clean with, and I love seeing your transformations ❤ I personally love that you use paper towels and lots of water like me lol. Also loud sounds engage me too!! I don’t know if I need to get tested or if it’s just because I’m getting old haha.

That's funny about the paper towels because I definitely use a lot of them. Sometimes it's hard for me to watch Auri clean something super dirty and then wipe it up with a microfiber cloth. I like the surface to be fairly clean before I use my microfiber cloth unless I just plan on throwing it away afterward, but I can't really afford to do that like I'm sure Auri can. She probably gets all new Scrub Daddy sponges and microfiber cloths and cleaners for every single cleaning and then gets to just throw them away after. How would it be?! On the loud sounds enraging you, it may very well just be a getting older thing unless you actually have other things about yourself that you have always thought were really different. I'm sure there are a lot of non-autistic people who don't like loud sounds though. 😊

Hopefully now that Mira's bathroom is clean and tidy, she'll be able to have a handyman patch the wall and paint it for her. She deserves a room without holes in the wall. Thank you for taking care of her.

We all have particular ways to clean- as long as the area is clean and tidy at the end it doesn’t matter. My aunt used to colour coordinate her washing on the line, her daughter used to stand at the top of the stairs and throw her washing on the grass. Both got dried. My cousin is a boss! 😂

I think if you reach out to her and ask how/when/if it is in the works, we could raise funds for it if need be. We could ask Bonnie to post it and funnel the funds through her channel just as was done for the table and chairs. I am absolutely aghast that the plumbers left it as is. It is part of their job to fix what they take apart including walls.

You should not have to post a disclaimer at all. EVERYONE is different on their methods of cleaning, and what their products are to clean. As long as the area gets clean and no matter how it is done isn't that the goal? Bonnie you are doing a great job!! Ignore those people that are just trying to stir up some trouble. If we lived in a tribe, it would make complete sense for the younger, able-bodied members to help less abled members with labor around the house. You and the niche community of amazing people are doing such good in the broken, individualist, capitalist system we live in. In reality, the gov't and other organizations won't take on the liability or effort to care about people who really need these services. You are doing what nobody else is willing or able to do. The longer I do this, the more I realize this is a service that is sorely needed. There are a few programs in place, but the need is overwhelming. I love when people tell me they have started to do this in their own communities because they see the need for it. It blesses, not only the lives of the people being helped, but also the person helping them. It really is such a rewarding feeling to help someone in such a desperate state. And I have definitely taken more control over my channel and ban people who just want to complain over every little thing and Overlook the fact that it's not just about the cleaning, but taking care of someone in an overwhelming situation. @@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp Honestly, the longer I watch your videos and other channels like yours, I am hauntingly aware that I'm one big loss or injury aware from not being able to keep up with the unpaid labor of keeping my home in order. Most of us are. It's just that we live in a society that shuns disabled bodies from the rest of society, so we just notice the absence of people, if we are even paying attention.

To criticize you is nuts! You do awesome work. And for someone like Mira to start this whole ordeal on her own one day & to stick with it is INCREDIBLY phenomenal because people with these kind of clutter issues have such a hard time changing their emotional mind set. I’ve had these issues myself. Also, i’m an adult female & i was wondering, how do you go about being checked for autism as an adult. I am 99% sure i have some form of it. Hearing you speak about yours, (especially the picking/excoriation part & chalk part) makes me realize i probably really really need to get some help. My son is autistic too.

Yeah, I think there's a high possibility you could be on the spectrum, especially if your son has been diagnosed as autistic. I actually found it very easy to find someone who tested adults. I think it's becoming more common for adults to want to get tested now and my insurance actually even covered it, which I was pleasantly surprised. I just asked my primary care physician for a referral and he gave me the names of two different places that did testing on adults, so maybe start there or just Google autism testing for adults in my area and see what comes up. Hello beautiful woman!! This video showed up in my feed today. I subscribed to your channel after watching just the first few minutes of Mira's kitchen. I can so relate to Mira's story. The fact that you have such a non-judgmental approach and you have such a big heart for helping those in need, is quite heart- warming to say the least! You are a shining Diamond in the Rough! 💎 I have fallen into a very deep depression after my precious husband of 40 yrs passed away. I can imagine that's pretty rough to not have him around after being married that long.😞 I think Mira's Channel would be super motivating to watch as she declutters even through some pretty depressing moments that have happened the last few months. It's clean! When they decide they want to clean it themselves, they can use whatever they want to use. When you clean, use what you want to use. If they were actually helpful comments that'd be one thing. They're just complaining to complain. Also, that table set is nice!!!

There are some people who are just natural bullies out there and the more you justify yourself, the more they feed on that to try to undermine you. I think Mac Midwest Cleaning takes the view that complainers deserve to get deleted and blocked . If they don't like the videos, they can watch somebody else. Nobody is forced to watch your content. Please don't feel you have to explain yourself and your methods. This is what you do and everyone you help is grateful for you. More strength to your elbow. All your fans appreciate you and we don't enjoy hearing you justifying your actions, when the haters don't do any of the good work that you do.
