[Helping Hand #33] "Ultra Cycles" by StarterX and more // Review 

Welcome to the new series on my channel, in which I will look at and review some overlooked or unrated levels, with the goal of helping the creators in getting them rated in the end.

I found this project in another level request stream I did with a friend and I thought it would fit the series really well, as I do believe that high quality remakes of old, classic levels are really rare nowadays, so I was surprised to see this being still unrated on the servers at the time.
It is very clear from the start that the level is a Super Cycles remake, with modernized decoration and an overall very well fitting design style. I found the visuals really nice to look at personally, I think the way the original was reimagined here is great, as it doesn't completely overhaul the base that's already given, it just enhances and modernizes it, which I really enjoyed. The visuals are also very consistent quality wise and the 2.2 effects that have been added are used in a very nice way so they don't feel unnecessary or out of place. I think only some of the wave shaders could have been toned down a bit.
Gameplay wise the level is obviously nearly identical to the original, which I personally like, I am not the biggest fan of remakes changing up everything when it comes to the gameplay. With that being said, the gameplay is more on the unconventional side compared to more recent levels for obvious reasons, but I think the way the path was indicated in this makes it a lot more enjoyable to play. There are still some blind clicks that were present in the original which could have been changed a bit, but I don't think keeping them is a bad choice either, as it stays true to being a very, very close remake like this.
Overall I think this is a really well made remake of an iconic level. Playing the level feels very similar to the original, but due to the new visuals everything feels a lot more modern as a whole, which is really nice. This level has been given a feature rating some weeks ago, which is very deserved in my opinion and also the rating I would have given it, if possible. I really hope the team behind this decides to tackle another classic in the future, which I would for sure check out again. Well done!
