[Helping Hand #42] "3AM Water" by BadPurple // Review 

Welcome to the new series on my channel, in which I will look at and review some overlooked or unrated levels, with the goal of helping the creators in getting them rated in the end.
I hope you can enjoy the series and maybe I am able to shine some light on those levels that I think deserve more attention.

BadPurple's newest level that they requested to me a while ago. I was very backed up with requests so I couldn't upload it before it got rated, but I think it is of such high quality that it deserves an upload either way.
Just like the creators other works this level uses a more art oriented modern style, with clean designs and very smooth and fitting transitions. It is also their first big 2.2 project and I think they used the new elements very cleverly, nothing feels out of place or overdone here at all. I really don't see any big problems with the level visually, I think everything looks really clean overall. The only thing I want to mention is that, while the level does have a theme it follows, some elements still feel a bit too loosely tied to it. Also something I could see people not like as much is the fact that the level is very hectic and wild with its visuals, so that it can get a bit cluttered and overwhelming for some. It wasn't a big thing for me personally, but I would still recommend looking into that in the future, so everything looks even cleaner overall.
Gameplay wise I liked the level, but the very learny nature of it took a bit for me to get used to. I don't have anything against learny levels overall, I just think some are more approachable as others. This for me was a mixed bag here for sure. Due to the level being an Easy Demon I knew it wouldn't take too long to get used to for me, but I can see the gameplay being very intimidating and confusing for someone who is just starting to get into the demon difficulty. Once learnt though, the level is fun and not too difficult either. Some transitions take a bit too get used to, especially the one at 0:38, mainly because there is an animation overlaid over the player, which can be a bit confusing at first.
The level as a whole is great though. I think the visuals are a step up from their previous projects and all the movements and effects really add to the whole experience. Everything looks well executed and very clean, for sure something they can be proud of. Gameplay wise I liked their previous stuff more, but I don't think it is bad by any means, just a bit too learny for me personally. Some parts could have also worked with a bit less detail density in my opinion, but those are really the only flaws I can name. The level has been featured since, for sure something I can agree on. I would have sent it for a feature myself as well, mainly because I would have liked to see some easier approachable gameplay and some clearer visuals at parts before giving it a higher rating. Still, really good improvement from the creators side, great level overall. I hope they can keep getting better and better and I am looking forward to their next project.
