[Helping Hand #47] "Akai Heya" by Trsm01 // Review 

Welcome to the new series on my channel, in which I will look at and review some overlooked or unrated levels, with the goal of helping the creators in getting them rated in the end.

Next up we have a level that I saw on a level request stream with a friend of mine and it immediately stuck in my head for how unique it looked and how well the song is represented in this project. I was also the creators first creator points, which for is super surprising considering the levels quality. I am really happy it got rated very shortly after, but I still wanna give it a spot on this channel, just because I think it is a really, really cool level and more people should check it out.
In my opinion this level is super memorable and also quite unique visually. I uses a mainly red color scheme, especially at the drop, which isn't something special at all, but it works super well with the song and the designs and effects still feel very fresh and are put together nicely. What is also worth mentioning is how well the camera effects are used to emphazise the song and enhance the overall experience by a ton. It makes the level super dynamic and fun to look at and on top of that it doesn't distract at all, which is super nice to see. In general for me this is a perfect example of how to connect a level well with its song, everything works together flawlessly. What I found really interesting as well were the references to other levels in the synced clicks at 0:25 and 1:13. I think they are very subtle and as a result, work really nicely in this context.
Speaking of those clicks, they are the first thing I wanna mention when talking about the gameplay. It is overall really well thought out and nicely put together, but there are some parts I would still wanna mention. First the previously mentioned clicks at 0:25 and 1:13: I think they are a really nice idea to emphazise those strong beats in the song, but I found them to be pretty unfair overall. They come in really fast and the player doesn't have too much time to react, even if they practiced the level before. It's worth mentioning that they are all buffer clicks, but I still think making that part less blind would help here. I also found the buildup at 0:36 a bit confusing at first, but I think those two parts are the only things I would wanna mention here. The rest of the level was super fun, it worked incredibly well with the song and was easy to grasp as well, which is nice for someone who looks for an entrance into the demon difficulty.
As I said in the beginning the level already received a rating shortly after it got released, which I think is very deserved. There are rarely levels that capture a song so well, while also combining it with really fun and interesting gameplay. Some parts are obviously a bit inconsistent in quality, but in my opinion those really effect the gameplay here, as I think the level is super well put together visually. I would have really liked to see this get an epic rating, but even the feature it got is super well deserved. I hope we can see more from this creator in the future, especially because this is their first rated project. I think they are very, very promising and I will make sure to keep my eyes open for more of their works.
