In this episode of the Toronto Dog Whisperer I spend the afternoon with Kubo and his owners.
Kubo is a 1.5 year old Eurasier with some early signs of aggression symptoms. He pulls, growls and lunges while on leash.
The owners have tried professional trainers and different tools, with some improvement.
I work mainly with the owners to build their confidence and trust with Kubo to help address these issues early.
Kubo’s triggers include; other dogs, joggers, bikes, and of course squirrels.
The owners dream goal is to get him to love and be friendly towards other dogs again!
Their realistic goal is to get him to be polite and at least tolerate other dogs so that he learns to be fully calm and relaxed for his on-leash walks.
In part 1 we make their realistic goal come true!
I show them how to build their confidence and trust with some gradual steps.

Aggression in chow chow and related hybrids like eurasier is usially related to a lack of a strong alpha dominent in his life. Chow chows are insecure dogs if they don't have a strong alpha character in their lives. Without an alpha these dogs become insecure and think they are vulnerable due to this insecurity. They tend to bite and act aggressively as they assume they have to BE the alpha character that is missing in their lives. Teach your dominent traits to your dog by training. Reward them for being open to training but be strict when they test you for dominance. Show the dog you're in control and will gently correct them when they mess up. I've spent my life rescueing chow chows from neglect and abuse. These simple training ideas will totally change an insecure chow or hybrid into a happy loveable pet. As soon as the dog assumes his beta position in your family pack he will relax. Aggression with other dogs can be corrected by the use of a muzzle to train the dog in the dog park to teach him other dogs aren't aggressive. Dog park socialization is critical once he learns other dogs aren't aggressive. Be sure to avoid aggressive breeds in the dog park until you and the dog gain more confidence. I've used these tips to rehab 6 adult chow chows in my life. My current dog is a eurazier that i adopted 6 years ago from an abusive environment. He has turned out to be the best of all 7 dogs i have rehabbed over the oast 30 years.

Hello there, an eurasier dog is not a working dog. It's written everywhere and you can also ask any eurasier breeder. Its a companion dog.

@@beckye6875 thank u, Im not the only one. I mean maybe there are few who enjoy having a task (like human were all différent), but the main breed is companionship.

@@thetorontodogwhispereraka-7115 The main goal when creating the breed was literally to create the "ideal" family dog

My dog would have gone after that Pug! I'm amazed Kubo stayed so calm!
@thetorontodogwhispereraka-7115
Most dogs would have as well, just goes to show dogs can stay calm even under stressful circumstances.

Hookahs? You mean Hoomans? Yes Kubo's family did very well. Its not easy, but with support and some practice, they will be walking with confidence soon!

@@thomasawdffaw123 Eurasiers were not meant to be working dogs, it is not their purpose ; However they were bred from Chow-chow Samoyedes and wolfspitz, which are working dogs (you can argue that for wolfspitz) so they still have a capacity for work in their genes. Also as it's the case for any smart dog, working and learning things is very rewarding for them because it keeps them stimulated (as long as it is well balanced with play and rest obviously).
