I switched to decaf coffee because I just love the morning routine of making it and sipping coffee while watching the news. I usually end up drinking two cups, but that made me jittery. Since switching to decaf I haven't had that problem!
Same, switching to decaf has saved my blood pressure and my hormonal cycle! I did it after reading on the effects of cafeine on the (female) body in Alisa Vittis book 'Women Code' years ago and it has made my health so much better, can't recommend it enough!

Hi Lucie! To answer your question, matcha has lower levels of caffeine per cup than coffee. And one reason a lot of people say that matcha is "better" in terms of caffeine content is because it has a compound called L-theanine. L-theanine is thought to help sleep. So when you drink matcha vs. coffee you probably feel the caffeine differently because of the compounds in each drink. But they both still have caffeine.

Matcha has something called L-theanine naturally occurring in it too. It’s said that that plus the caffeine helps to achieve a feeling of calm focus. So you feel awake and energized but not jittery. It helps eliminate the crash coffee results in, too.

ah, I just had to quit caffeine for the same reason. But I have to say it's def worth it if you're looking for better sleep, lowered heart rate, and eliminating unnecessary anxiety. The book Caffeine Blues was also very helpful for inspiring a caffeine scale back to whatever degree you need.
Matcha is definitely better for you! It contains compounds found in most teas (I believe it's L-theanine) that are actually anti-anxiety which is why with tea your caffeine high feels more relaxed :)
matcha feels less obvious than coffee. for me, coffee i feel it in my digestion, i feel jittery, i feel my heart rate... matcha wakes me up without those symptoms. but same as coffee, if i have it too late at night it will be hard to sleep. i would say matcha is smoother feeling. I think some components of it make the caffeine affect your body more gradually, while coffee is more harsh/sudden on the body

I feel like Coffee wakes you up and matcha is more focus. I go in phases where I can and cannot drink matcha though. Sometimes my body is like no -only coffee.
I have the same problem with coffee if I don’t drink coffee after five I don’t have any issues with heart rate or sleeping ! So it might be the time you are consuming it not necessarily the amount

Coffee can also make my heart race sometimes, but matcha never makes my heart race! I can feel a little funny if I drink too much matcha. I would recommend switching up what days you have which and that should help! 👍
your matcha making techniques are decent :) just need to make sure you get it as foamy as you can with that w motion :) (i used to work at a matcha cafe)
I think matcha should have less caffeine than coffee since it comes from green tea and the tea with the highest caffeine content is black tea. But I could be wrong so 🤷♀️🤣

Caffeine is a strange creature. I love green tea but unfortunately in the past year even decaf green tea makes my heart race while I can have the occasional cup of coffee with very little or no side effects. Go figure. I pretty much stick to herbal teas now, usually fresh mint and/or fever grass. When I do have coffee I have a small amount mixed with roasted carob powder or roasted Dandelion
I used to have them all the time.....until my M.D. husband got this tip from a woman OB-GYN. Every time you get out of a shower use a hairdryer on medium to dry your vagina carefully. A towel does not get all the moisture out before you put on panties. Just try it...for the last 20 yrs I have been yeast infection-free! NOT JOKING!
