This video was filmed a couple months ago, and we debated whether to post it due to the nature of the topic. That said, we decided to post it as an educational tool to help others in their decision as to whether they want to support the industry if it means saving a horse. This is OUR experience assisting through the process, some of the unethical aspects we encountered, and we are offering this information to you so you can be prepared for the unexpected if you decided to bail a kill pen horse. We will NOT offer the name of the particular kill pen or transporter involved. I will only offer that they post horses regularly on facebook and other channels asking for "bail", the transporter is widely used throughout the nation to haul kill pen horses, information can be found about them online (good and bad), and that they seemingly make a LOT of money on this kill-pen operation--if my client's expenses are any indication! In fact, we did our own research to learn more about this system and discovered that many of the horses you see listed as "shipping soon" may have never been eligible to send to slaughter anyway. Furthermore, killpens have contract quotas they must meet, that require a set number of horses be shipped each month. Any horses "bailed" or sold are not part of that number, will not decrease the contract quota, and simply line the pockets of those running these businesses. Just do your research, know the risks involved, and know how your money is going to be used.
