Thanks for answering my question guys, I think the R8 is the route I will go, I'm chatting to a dealer about a white coupe with carbon side blades now!
I’m 25 like the first question and have an Emira and strongly recommend it to them! Came from Porsche’s before this and absolutely thrilled with the Emira so far, gives me that exotic/super car feeling!
You're surprised [Sam] that the SL63 has a harsh ride? It's an AMG. They all do. I've had 7 Mercedes and always went for the biggest engine version that doesn't have the AMG badge and was never disappointed with the ride, and with the power too. The last was a W222 S500 that had 455hp but the best ride ever. It was spec'ed above the price of an S63 but I wouldn't have traded it for one of those.
Looking forward to the 10 year special (well done Sam). I think the first time I saw Tony was in a SoL video - TG had just got his hands on a Quadrifoglio and Paul was in an M3, guess that'd be around 2016 👍
Guy's I know you all have tight schedules but could you please make the 10 year STG episode a bit longer because I already know it's going to be a classic. Great work, love the show.
I live part of the year on our farm which is around 3 kilometers from the AMG Factory. We think of the AMG cars as our local VW Golf’s. I only get excited when I see one in luminous orange. Nice cars. Bit noisy, they scare the rabbits😀.
In a rather sacrilegious turn of events I have just changed my 2017 Civic Type R for a newer Tesla Model 3 Performance. I never thought I’d see the day as an avid petrol head with many negative views towards a lot of the EV side in general. However, as a daily driver - where most of the time I’m sat in traffic or on small slow moving bumpy country roads, and paired with the substantial savings from home charging it was a no brainer - around £90 for 5,000 miles of driving!
I own MYP and a tasty ice car and people forgot that majority of journeys are just so frustrating I wonder why I bother with a tasty car! most people just can’t drive any chance of finding gets ruined by an eco minded slow moving Uber 😂
@@BarryMakariou Couldn’t agree more! I only really came to this conclusion myself when I considered my driving like a 80-20% split; With the Type R, as much as I loved pushing it’s capabilities on the B roads on a warm dry day it was only really 20% of the time throughout the year. Whereas the majority of time I’m commuting - for me it just didn’t seem worth sacrificing comfort and convenience of the everyday journey for the odd B road bash. Besides that’s not even to say that the Tesla’s aren’t fun in an entirely different way either!
Mercedes have done it again. I bet you it has been developed on the Nurburgring. That car is for wofting to Cornwall or to the south of France. It is a GT car.
Worst suspension on a car Ive ever owned 2020 911 992 Carrera s bog standard…30mph in town absolutely horrendous..god only knows what a GT car would feel like…got a 2017 McLaren 570gt now..smooth as silk👌
It's a lovely example tbf it's red Z51 pack, will be hard to get another in the UK in the spec again they don't come up for sale often. I would keep and have both but I don't have room for another car right now as I've also got an s2000 that I want to keep hold of and only picked up back in march.
Come on boys..... 40-70k first super car or something exotic that he can warranty..... I get it's definitely a sports car but what about the Lotus Emira?! They any good driving wise? In that price bracket? Amg gt in that price range? What is the service cost like? There must be more than an R8 that you can propose?!
Top episode, but I still have a car conundrum! Used 718 GTS or new Emira on 0% finance (works out cheaper monthly even though it’s £20k more). Genuine head scratcher!
I think you need to bring the revuelto issue more to the forefront. I remember Tim aka Schmee saying that Lamborghini didn't want him to drive and review a customer car before they give him a press car. They know they would have been exposed. Watch Gercollector driving a new revuelto and it breaking down as well. I do think that Lamborghini is paying people like Dragtimes and Doctor M3 to glorify that car, btw Doctor M3 is a big time Lambo glazer, and they are the two people who were glorifying that car and maybe one or two more.
We dont get the golf r estate here in the usa we get the Golf allroad and quick making it 2022 or so for low mile 2018 car you can find them spec up well for $18k to $20k
I'd love to know your thoughts on the Focus ST Mk4 - in all of the suggestions you never mention it once so I wondered if you are discounting it because you don't like it or just really aren't aware of it, seems to fit the bill of a lot of the hot hatch discussions you were having. Or the Civic Type R for that matter!
Thanks for the suggestions guys, test driving a 600LT at the weekend, will also jump in a 720S for comparison, worth considering the Artura for new tech, 5 year warranty and a cheeky offer?
@@jacopoi7047 since asking the question another one i'm considering is an exige 350 sport, exposed manual shifter in a lightweight supercharged v6! Speaking to a dealer about an R8 V10 currently but still open to a good exige. No warranty in the same way as audi but toyota engine so i'm not as concerned.
Stelvio QV for sure. Who cares in performance car about infotainment. I dont care about it in standard cars either. No need sat nav as i use phone for it its much better. All i need is connect it with bluetooth on speakers and thats it. Never using radio. All i need is control heatinng and ac. So from performance suvs defo stelvio qv.
Really enjoying these! I’ve got to say though, as a previous era Mercedes lover…I just think the new models are dross. Particularly the interiors, which I can’t escape the feeling are going to age like a body in a lake. I’d have the S Class coupe or GTC over any of their big cost models atm (G wagon aside)
If tyres aren't homologated, you can't take them to Germany. Brits are always doing this sort of thing (especially modded exhausts) and the DE cops enjoy nicking them. DE tuners get mods homologated through TÜV and supply documentation.
@@mjrowden I should add I’m not criticizing per se, great content and I think it’s totally fine to spend money how you want. But my advice to that 25 year old - however well off he is - probably would have been “don’t”, spend 20-30k on a nice Mercedes and use the rest on more productive things.
Gerald Ratner of the once very lucrative Ratners Jewelers soon discovered the cost of calling his stock 'crap'....less than two years after saying that on prime time TV, he was bankrupt.
Unfortunately having sold boat loads of Mercs I've got to say the quality and reliability is definitely behind both BMW and Audi. I wouldn't buy one tbh...
Love tonys comments but sams becoming to much of a pompus pratt these days and dont much care for his main channel content so has with that im also unsubscribing but message to tony theres a rather nice car listed on your website will be in touch shortly maybe you can convince me to buy it
Have already sorted property purchase funds this won't affect that that's why I'm avoiding finance though as I don't want debt when doing mortgage applications. I promise I'm not spending my entire net worth on cars lol.
@@OldGrandadMashup LS2 auto mine, it genuinely makes for a great daily once you get used to driving LHD, great cruiser, comfy etc. I was looking at swapping it out for that yellow Z06 for sale in Ashford but figured for the extra money I'd rather get another sports car and keep my current cars or add a bit more money and try something new. Hard decision though because as you will know with yours these things are hard to replace if you let go of them here. They take a long time to sell also if you want to. The Z06 is a big and worthwhile upgrade on the base car for sure I mean track wise it's a GT3 muncher it's nowhere near as friendly as the Porsche ofc but it's a serious bit of kit. However I'm not sure it would make a great daily as the LS7 isn't the reliable block the LS2/3 are, it is reliable generally but is such an insane bit of engineering you have to expect if may have a big bill or two that engine is known to have catastrophic failures on occasion. Also for me personally, outside of the styling I'm not going to see the benefit of the performance difference in a Z06 as I just cruise around mostly. You can of course go for the grandsport if you can find one here but people want silly money for them in the UK for what is essentially a normal c6 with Z06 looks. (Don't get me wrong very cool but the money people want you may as well just get a Z06). Let me know what you do!
Love the podcast, but I think you should lose the pre-recorded intro. I understand the point, get all the info and gubbins out the way without having to worry about it every week. But regular listeners become deaf to it, so they don't take in any of the points of business anyhow, plus you have to wait ~30 seconds to get to the content, and I'm sure Sam knows about the importance of capturing people's attention in the first 30 seconds on RU-vid. For new people who are sampling the podcast, they might take in the points of business, and it's nice to set out the premise of the show, but I think it's much more powerful to *show* people what the podcast is about rather than *telling* them. Maybe a sizzle of a few big points coming up in the podcast would be a better way to entice new viewers. As I say, this is my favourite podcast, it's incredible, and I want more fellow car nerds to listen.
Don’t listen to these jokers on McLaren haven’t had any problems with mine & payed £86k…had Lotuses in the past as well and never had any problems with them…sometimes u just have to own to know..
