Helpless woman watches as adopted lizard grows to 5 feet in length 

He's adorable, I love his squeal. He has his own room and he's living like a king but I've never seen this breed of dog before.

The iguana is receiving excellent care, it looks incredibly healthy.

I grew up in Costa Rica. I ended up rescuing a green iguana. I named him Jones. He was a vibrant turquoise colour. He never lost his gorgeous colour. It stayed bright blue/green his whole life. He had the longest tail. He was free roam with his own bedroom also. He loved people. I mean any new person that came into my house he would KNOW. I would hear the telltale scraping, and big THUNK (him jumping down from one of his basking spots in a window) and then his toenails scraping along the floor as he made the way into the kitchen or living room. He'd zero in on the new person, tasting the air the whole way and would demand to be picked up and petted. If we were sitting he would leap onto the new persons lap. I had many a shocked friend and acquaintance freak out in dismay, only to fall absolutely in love with Jones in under a minute. He was the most friendly iguana I had ever met. Even through breeding season. He never ever bit anyone or whipped anyone. He was a genuinely friendly lizard that just wanted to steal your body heat and get all the belly rubs and back scratches and jowl massages. You could pet him for hours and he'd never get enough. Haha. I miss him so much. He lived to the ripe old age of 17. When the time came, he passed in my arms. I loved that lizard with all my heart.

This is possibly the best-looking pet iguana I've ever seen! His colors are way more vibrant than usual, his spines aren't super droopy, he isn't trying to kill her every time they interact... considering just how bad green iguanas are as pets, more for the iguana's sake, she is doing an amazing job! Hope Blue knows he is a very good, handsome boy. And that his human is a lovely person, first to take in such an infamously difficult pet from a bad situation and then to do whatever she did to make him so great!

My older brother, back in '68, had an alligator lizard named Lizzie, who my parents gave run of the house priveleges. Lizzie was so chill and lovable, and very intelligwnt, because if my Dad came home from a bad day at work, Lizzie would run up to his shoulders (my Dad only tolerated pets) and my Dad would just laugh. One day, Lizzie was gone, and my family and I were in a tragic state, assuming Lizzie had escaped. We mourned for a couple of hours, of searching for Lizzie and then coming home to a somber family dinner. Then when my Mom called us and our Shetland Sheep Dog Lassie to dinner (because Lassie always ate dinner with us), my whole family almost fainted--Lizzie was home, alive, just cuddling for warmth under Lassie's tail.🦎🦎🦎

if a lizard is regularly crawling onto you to cuddle and gives you the cold shoulder if you leave him behind for a few days there is nothing debatable about his love

I rescued my iguana when he was 5 years old. He was starved and looked max 5-6 months old. Didnt get any UVB lights or proper nutrition. Now he's 23 years old and free roaming my appartment living his best life.

Blue is lucky to have a person that is so dedicated to giving him a good home. Not enough people that take on an animal have the follow-through, which is why there is so many abandoned animals in the world.

Blue is obviously a very happy guy. His intelligence is evident. You have done an excellent job caring for him.

This iguana is an exceptional looking specimen. This girl is giving this creature expert care. He's more beautiful than any other reptile I've ever seen. His color is amazing and I didn't know that their spines were supposed to appear that way. Every one ice ever seen was not vibrantly colored like that and the spines are always flat. He's just beautiful. Trust me mama he loves you. You are giving him his best life.

This lady is so incredible! She obviously tries so hard to understand and communicate with her lizard, to provide for any/all of his needs, and to provide the best possible environment for him, given the state laws and regulations banning his release into the wild. My favorite high school science teacher had a pet iguana and she brought it to school everyday. It had its own setup in the class and would just hang out. The iguana was just one thing that made me look forward to her class every day…she was/is an awesome teacher.

They can be such great pets- my daughter gave me one for Mother’s Day many years ago….I tried my best to do everything right for him- he lived to be a wonderful old guy, he lived till the month before he was 19! Seriously. Give him the right food, keep him warm enough, and he’ll continue to keep you company for a long, long time. I live in the Treasure Coast of Florida, so it’s usually perfect weather for iguanas…and other lizards as well! Best of luck to you two! ❤❤❤❤

He is living the life

I’m shocked by how chill he is. Every iguana I’ve been around has been wild and aggressive. They really belong in trees in the wild unless you have a ridiculous amount of space and time to work with them. They are surprisingly intelligent for lizards you can see it in their eyes, and great climbers. They’re really cool animals but it’s rare to see them this tame and I would caution people against trying to own one

We had 3 iguanas growing up. One was a male so the same size as this guy and the other two were female. They had a custom 300 gallon tank but honestly, they only spent nights in there. We let them free roam around the house. Favorite spot of their was my parents heated waterbed. They would nuzzle underneath the pillows. They are honestly almost like dogs and they have a ton of personality.

You can tell by Blues eyes that he really loves you too!!! It's so wonderful to see how happy and well cared for Blue is, and how lovable he is too!!!

This nice lady was kind enough to take this animal in and wanted to share and educate. The title has to do with his length and it’s not clickbait. Some people shouldn’t be so quick to judge and leave negative comments. I wish there were more people like her to take abandoned animals in and give them a loving home.

I have so much admiration and respect for this woman. She is an angel for caring for that iguana (and other animals) the way she does. And it shows how all living things respond to kindness and loving care. The world is lucky that people like her exist.

Blue is a great kid ! He leads a pampered life, and it's obvious that he enjoys it. He's also very intelligent and has feelings. If you keep indulging him in that area, he may really surprise you. You do a wonderful job !

This really warms my heart and think of the Iguana Jose I took from a friend, who was 15 when I got him. His bottom jaw half removed from cancer and scars and improperly healed broken claws and arm. He was in dire shape and on deaths door when Me and my then fiancee nursed him back to health and proudly became his parents for another 13 years til he passed from renal failure. He was one of the greatest things to come into my life and teach me about compassion and to never judge looks because he was the sweetest creature I've ever been blessed to know. The woman who I cared for him with and Jose Iguana have both passed on. I'd like to think they are together somewhere.

He is so beautiful, all those colors. I remember a story I heard once: a man saw the most beautiful iguana and wanted to have him as a trophy, so the man killed it thinking that he would be able to have the colors. Unfortunately as soon as the animal died, the colors faded and were gone forever. The man realized that the colors were because the animal was alive and breathing, and its not a trophy that you can possess, you can just enjoy and marvel at its beauty. This story reminded me of that. I can only imagine that it was such a beautiful creature and the colors were an expression of emotions and nature's truest form of beauty.

Beautiful iguana!!!❤ I raised an iguana in San Diego that was similar to him in a lot of ways, and who I fed a very similar diet with the addition of marmoset, and kingworms (his favorites), and tried some other small animals he didn’t like. But he LOVED kingworms!!! In San Diego, hibiscus grows everywhere. So, I would garnish his meals with it. I toilet trained him with kingworms. What happened was that I had been keeping him on a network of branches above my desk in college with a heat lamp on the ceiling just above them. I noticed that around 12 noon every day, he would climb down and gambol out through the hallway to the bathroom, climb over the tub side, and slide down into the tub where he would poop. I started to follow him into the bathroom with a bucket of kingworms and when he would go toward the tub, I would redirect him (at first not without a fight) to the toilet, where I would push his base of tail toward the water. Once he would start to feel the water and cool from inside the bowl on his anus, he’d let rip. I would immediately feed him several king worms. Didn’t take very long for him to make an association and start doing it on his own! He was also locally known for body-surfing and taking scritches and pets from kids at the beach. His name was Oz, the Great and Mighty. 🎉 For carrying, I would carry him on the back of my forearm. If you lift your elbow as though you’re pushing the elbow forward, the hand facing backward with palm up to the sky, this forms a backward facing surface at ear-height. I would place him facing backwards, left-ear to left-ear or right-ear to right-ear, butt over the elbow and tail cascading down forward and carry him that way. He enjoyed being carried that way and looking back behind us as we walk, or ride a bicycle or a skateboard. :)

I had an iguana growing up. An important thing to mention is how long they live, this is a major long term commitment. Iggy lived for 20 years. Not sure how much longer they live but we were shocked.

This was a very informative video. Well done! I had a female iguana for almost 20yrs. Amazing creatures but not for most. She did a great job explaining everything except early care. Since she got him already old she didn't experience this but when they are young you MUST domesticate them. They are wild, they will bite you and make you bleed, tale whip you and scratch you. But don't think I'll do it when they get older, it doesn't work like that. It will be worse as they will be bigger and stronger. They have to get us to you right away, so that means spending a lot of time holding them, hands feeding them and getting them us to you. And yeah you might get pooped on a few times 😆
