From a Helsinki native, this is very good selection of restaurants! Something proper instead of the usual market hall snacks or any of that Lapland-themed nonsense you usually see on RU-vid videos about Helsinki. These are places the locals hold in high regard too.

@@JuliaGonzalesTravels Hey, no problem. The identity of Helsinki is international, open, accessible and progressive. Not many natives in Helsinki eat Finnish food in restaurants for other reasons than catering to their guests. Even then it usually only happens if the company pays for it.
Well said. Thats exactly the typical tourist video. Without taking anything away from traditional finnish foods, but it starts to repeat it self when every youtuber does the same. Meanwhile there is huge variety of restaurants, food trucks etc for city that size, including there traditional ones to the extremes. This video inspired me to go to those places, some of them i've never even heard of, even im local.

Next time you are in Helsinki you should try Maija's Sushi in Viikki neighborhood. That sushi is the best sushi I have ever eaten and as a big sushi lover I would go back to Helsinki just to have it. It is a small, family run business and they really prioritize quality of ingredients and experiment with bold flavors. They also sometimes add wild edible flowers as decorations :) My top picks from them are Zarigani, Pablo, Tilapia Kabayaki and Hamachi with lime, but for more budget friendly option I suggest chef's plate, where they get to surprise you with their selection of sushi. They even have a broad selection of vegan options that are not just your bog-standard avocado and cucumber rolls.
Burgerlovers passionate community would say that Naughty Burger is not even close to best burgers in Helsinki or Finland and there is 10 better places. Yeah, pretty good not denying that, but chain type of problems with sometimes quality not so consistent. 8 out of 10.
First i tought why the exotic foods in Helsinki, but then i remembered that you already did video tour for local foods there earlier. I don´t usualy visit in Helsinki, but here in Tampere where i live is so much restaurants too that why to bother 😄. There is also little restriction for me becouse i stopped eating carbs (unless those comes from veggies) over 16 months ago. So it is hard to find restaurants where to eat. But ofcourse there is lot of places to order steak, fish or some other meet. Every place has also vegetables as well.

Also others perspective of living in Finland is always nice to see. Sometimes it gives strength to live here even that we many times think that nothing works here like it should (we are propably little bit too perfectionists). @@ArchieArpeggio Omg we thought Helsinki was lovely. I don't know how the winters are but being there in May was amazing. People are so nice, cars stop and allow you to cross the road (shocking in Florida, not so much) and the food is delicious. We really enjoyed Finland and we will be back to visit again.
@@JuliaGonzalesTravels Timing was good. May was warmer than usually and june has been colder than may. We have so much more of pedestrians in whole Europe if we compair it to US. Our cities are build pedestrian friendly unlike most parts of the US. We also have lot of bikers cyckling everywhere. Local food is quite blend here, but i think that my generation and the youngers uses more spices these days. I have always used alot of spices and sometimes if i ate food that someone other has made might taste little too blend for me. But the good thing is that i can cook well and all the food is so delicious as i make those to be 😁.

When a car stopped and let me cross the street I thought maybe it was a joke but it wasn't. SO Pedestrian Friendly!! You visited a good selection of restaurants, I must visit those same locations again! For thai-food, you should visit the tiny mostly-take-away place Dudii (at Kallio area, Helsinki), something quite different place, menu and the chef, instead of the usual thai places that are mostly copies of each other.

11:25 I hope you stopped for some fried vendace at the marketplace - if not, and you are still in FI, do not miss it. Haven't watched until the end yet so I don't know if you end up in there, but Filipino restaurant Kamalig is worth a visit too. Try the adobo (with any meat)!
We did the fried vendace at a couple different places it was so good and one of my husband's favorite dishes. I tried the smoked Vendace and unfortunately, that wasn't my favorite but I did enjoy it fried. @@JuliaGonzalesTravels smoked vendace is not a favorite of mine, either. I avoid it. But the fried one is sooo good. The smaller the vendace, the better. We call the small ones needle vendace, "neulamuikku".
I imagine that the carbonara thing you ate is made from left over dough that is over cured so it cant be made in to a pizza anymore. I work at a Neopolitan pizzeria in Finland. 😉

But I like it when you eat authentic food from whatever country you visit.. I could eat the best pork tenderloin ever in the world in Iran if there is a chef who could do it, and it's not going to happen. Keep it simple and eat what everyone else is doing. Or is it just advertising for restaurants..
