I remember buying the book HelterSkelter in the early 70's. The cover said, " This book will scare the hell out of you", it did. Have read everything I could find since then and til this day.

Scott, Steven Parent's death popped up on my App and it was only then that I realized he was born the same year as I was - 1951! I'm now 70 years old. Hard to believe the crimes were committed so very long ago as I remember as if it were yesterday.

I was born in 1969. As a matter of fact, when Sharon Tate was killed my mom was 6 months pregnant with me. I was born in early November. My mom still remembers with vivid clarity the news on television covering the Tate Murders and how it struck all kinds of terror in her. My dad was driven crazy with my mom’s constant concerns about windows being open at night. We have always lived in San Diego so the Manson crimes were too close for comfort. She couldn’t sleep for months even after I was born. She became a nervous wreck after Tate was killed. By the way, I enjoy your stuff a lot.

My dad was in the jury pool for the Manson trial. Thank heavens he was not picked. He was a heart felt guy and it would have really hurt him to see all the evidence.

Wow, that's freakin creepy that he's seen/heard things attached to the bricks from the Tate fireplace. I've read before that a lot of people think Benedict Canyon in itself is haunted. Why? Who knows, but the original owner of the Cielo Drive house didn't even feel safe there. She had said when she first moved into the newly built home, she always heard noises coming from the living room area of the house, also, if I'm not mistaken, Trent Reznor felt uneasy there too. I think any items from that house absorbed the horror that happened there. Very interesting, but creepy.

I'm a voice over artist and I do find HIS voice very good and can listen to him narrate true crime, especially the Manson murders...awesome work

I’ve been a fan of yours for many years, Scott. I love your work. I hope you have your extensive treasure trove of historical items insured or something, because it would be a disaster to lose it all in a fire or have it stolen! I mean your entire collection.

Debra Tate had Stage Two or Three Breast Cancer, which also took her sister Patty, when she did the auction at Juliens' a couple years ago. In 2020, she still spoke of having it. Knowing her mortality, she also wanted good homes for Sharon's clothing. Still, I wish better scrutiny could have been exerted over them, as her wedding dress is now in Zac Begen's Haunted Museum in Vegas, which is really tasteless.

Fascinating stuff Scott. This is Terra, we've talked. I took one of your tours, it was the murders tour. Murder and something else. I was born in Hollywood and learned lots of things I didn't know. Maybe go through your collection and take out stuff that isn't of something you really want, keep the rest. You will regret it someday....the next day. I have a holster I purchased from Frank Retz made from German leather and a suitcase from Ruby Pearl filled with vintage black powder blanks among other props from Spahn Movie Ranch. I was a student at UMass/Amherst that shut down after Kent State & Cambodia. We stayed on Retz's property for 2 weeks to interview and get settled to cover the trial in May-June 1970. Ridership was almost non-existent due to the notoriety and George had to sell off many beautiful props in the back barn. The Ranch hands were ok. The remaining family members wanted cash or drugs. One girl had a significant trust fund that carried the bill. We ended up on DeSoto at Ruby's neighbor and the Topanga at Red Meecham's a friend of Retz. The Santa Ana fires destroyed Spahn and Simi Hills in September. We received a $2500 journalism grant to cover our expenses,for a year? You could survive on $35/week in Chatsworth in 1970. Good work. I'm 72 and my grandson has taken interest in this event like many others. It was an unusual time in that alternative cultures popped up in so many places.

I was 4 years old, vacationing in Cap Cod , Massachusetts with my family when The Manson Killings took place. I was too young to remember myself but my mom remember's seeing newsracks filled with the Horrible massacre about it. I do remember though vacationing somewhere else in 1977 and seeing newspapers about the "Son of Sam killings. I do remember that ! Great stuff Scott Michaels. My family travelled a lot and I am sorry I missed your Dearly Departed Tours. I love old Hollywood and I would of loved it ! Glad we still have you on You Tube though. 😊

I love your documentary and have seen it many times. I don't know why this case is so fascinating but for me, maybe because I was born the same month in the same year - August of 1969. I probably originally saw your documentary on a disc from Netflix years ago, but it's one I keep going back to. I lived in LA from Dec of 1992 to June 1996 (I live in NYC) but I haven't been back since 1999. Thank you for posting these - I understand why you collect all this stuff. I am a history buff too and have contributed to a book on Dario Argento, a few small newspapers and am opening a theater in the Midwest. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

I just saw Rosemary La Bianca’s drivers license, on Ghosts of Hollywood. It was issued March 3rd 1965; listing her Birthday as Dec. 15th, 1929. It was placed in a toilet tank in Sylmar by Kasabian-where it sat for four months.

Scott is a very interesting man and is compulsive viewing, his enthusiasm for the Tate/ La Bianca killings is totally infectious and I never get tired of listening to him discuss the subject 👍

I do love relics. Most of mine are typical - piece of the Berlin Wall, piece of Alcatraz, rock from top of Stone Mountain, piece of Crazy Horse monument, etc. I did obtain a small piece of wood sliver from the Unabomber's cabin when they had it on display in Washington. Anyway - I and my wife were doing the famed "Atlantique" show (massive antique show in Atlantic City, New Jersey where only the finest and MOST interesting of collectibles and antiques would show up) once and this guy had an actual painting by Gacy of himself as Pogo. It was, I would say a near-perfect piece to own. He offered it to us for $400 (which was a pretty good deal at the time in the early 90's), but then dropped it to $350. He wanted to move it bad. In fact, he admitted that he did NOT like owning it. I and my wife held it.....and well, we both felt this dread...and this painting (and yes - we deal in art) literally oozed "evil". I know it sounds weird..but it did. No piece of art ever exuded that feeling over us....ever. The word "creepy" doesn't describe it. We thought about it and thought about it..AND thought about it. We knew it would be a fantastic investment at THAT price. But, our consciences took over our greed, and we both felt that IF we had bought it. something bad was going to happen to us. We finally decided to pass. There's an old saying with dealers - you never regret what you bought....but you ALWAYS regret what you didn't buy. THIS was one time....that saying was wrong. Even now, whenever I tell that story (and yes, it IS absolutely true) , it causes me "jitters".......

Enjoyed your video. I remember when these events really happened. People were horrified and incredulous. It was hard to understand and comprehend because there was no logical rhyme or reason for the killings. Author Jacqueline Susann and her husband Irving Mansfield were in LA and were invited to Sharon's house the night of the killings. Jackie and Irving had an early dinner with Rex Reed ( who was testing for Myra Breckenridge) and declined Sharon's invitation. Jackie turned white the next morning when she heard about the killings.

Good Morning, Scott 4/24/24. I could listen to you every single day. You should also be in radio with that wonderful voice! We have a Gateway groc store here in AL., I wonder if its affiliated today? There's a Parker Brothers Ouija board in our storage. I get it out in October and put it on the fireplace for decoration with my pumpkins. I just look at it as pressed cardboard. It doesnt scare me at all. The spade is missing the plastic center. It came from a yard sale for $2.

I saw the very well-researched documentary on Jay Sebring, and I think that top attorney that Jay had draw up the divorce papers was highly credible. He remembered specific details. That said, do I think Sharon was literally about to divorce Roman? No, they had clearly worked out their differences, as she wanted him to commit to being a father and tone down his infidelities, which he obviously agreed to. I think Sharon's friends might have suggested divorce when they were all angry at him, and Jay likely heard about this, and said, "Sharon, I can have the papers drawn up, and if Roman doesn't take your complaints seriously, you can show them to him" or words to that effect. I know people who have done the same thing with their spouses who were taking them for granted, and it knocked them right out of their complacency.

I was 10 years old in 1969. I live in Alabama now but then I lived in El Segundo CA. My babysitter when I was very young brought one of her friends over to babysit me. I found out later when I saw her on the news. Her friend was Susan Atkins,!! She even read me a story.

IF you partnered-up, you could own a book store chain, Scott Michaels. Somewhere near the cemeteries out West. East, too! Good that you’ve got a store, though! It’s nice that someone wants to keep ‘some of’ these memories alive! People are so forgetful, by & large. As I said in a more recent comments’ section, very thoughtful! 🌷🤷🏽🧜🏽‍♀️

A few years ago while doing a ghost hunt at Moundsville State Penitentiary, while using a tape recorder a question was asked by one of the guys in our group if Charles Manson's mom was in housed in this Prison, I replied "yeah, from 1939 to 1941" . On the recording you can hear a female voice say" No.. 1942".. After reading the book on Moundsville Penitentiary... It states she was there from 1939 to 1942.
