I was there!!!! I love Paul!!! He is a fantastic performer and so so charming. He played for nearly 3 hours and never stopped, even to take a drink of water.
As very young kid I listened at the door of the living room when my much older sister played Rubber Soul on the hi-fi. My parents laughed at me when I told them I wanted to know what to listen to when I got to be a teenager. "Hah! They'll be gone by the time you're a teenager." Well, Dad, I'm 56, and they're still here -- at least in a way. Oh, and one of them has been knighted. Kids today don't understand the huge generation gap of back then, but seeing this makes me feel really smug.
You wanna see a REAL music legend? It's the band that outsold the rolling stone records by 3 times in the 80s when the band was broken up, and the rolling stones were still together. It's the guys who's songs are to this day in the top 10 most listened to songs that were written 50 years ago. The Beatles
Was at the 2009 show at the new Citi Field when Sir Paul explained what a Helter Skelter was in England. I would have never guessed it was a roller coaster.
I saw Paul sing this live in 2005, at Madison Square Garden in NYC. I was totally blown away by this performance, and also by the fact that he still hit the high notes in the bridge during "Maybe I'm Amazed" ("and maybe you're the only woman who could EVER HELP ME"). I couldn't believe he could still sing like that. He didn't even hit those notes on the "Wings Over America" album, in 1976. I also saw him in 1989, but his voice was WAY stronger on 2005. He's unbelievable.

He has never sang the phrase he sings on the record live. The notes you heard in 2005 "ever help me" are not the same as the album version. He did have a really strong live voice in 2005 though. ( I prefer it to the one he had in 1989).
@ Do you have a solid source to back up that statement? Because I have to disagree, since I was in the room, and heard him, clear as a bell. I was not expecting him to attempt to hit those notes, but he surprised the heck out of me, as did the amazing job he did on Helter Skelter, both at MSG and on the Grammy Awards show. Who knows, maybe the show I was at was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for that song. FYI, I also saw him in 1989 (the only other time I saw Paul live), and I agree, his voice wasn't as strong, on the raucous parts, anyway.
@ However, out of respect to you, i will search my memory banks and ask my friend Jack, who was also at that 2005 show at the Garden. After all, I *was* wrong about something once, back in 1997, so who knows? 😇

@@ragamuffin92 Yes, there's recordings of every show of that tour. You can even find a video of that night here on RU-vid uploaded by sirpaulru. Paul goes up to B4 / C5 on that phrase live, and goes into falsetto on the last verse. I love him to death but those moments in 1989 with the raspy worn out voice are not the best. I love Flaming Pie era since it seems to be the moment where he regained some solid vocals). 05 tour is one of my favourites as well !

@@ragamuffin92F5 was way out of his live rocky singing voice (closest display of that part of his range in full glory I can think of is closing note on Rockshow movie, at the end of Soily) but I would LOVE it to be true though! Paul has surprised me lots of times through the years. I think he's this guy we are all forever in awe of, as Dylan said. My life wouldn't have been the same without his influence.
I LOVE YOU PAUL! I KNOW ITS NOT NORMAL TO HERE THIS FROM A 16 YEAR OLD TEENAGER BUT YOU INSPIRED ME TO PLAY THE GUITAR ALONG WITH JOHN AND GEORGE. YOU ARE MY INSPIRITION I LOVE YOU!
PAUL! I love you so much! Congratulations on winning a grammy + The Beatles winning a grammy!! You deserved it! You're the greatest! Please come to Seattle soon!
The first heavy metal song ever. I have listened to the others claimed to be the first, no this is the first. The others are easy listening by comparison.
I was there July 17th on the first show! Best show of my life, stood about 10 feet away from Paul as he was driven into the stadium the day before for a sound check. Oh, how I wouldve loved for him to sign my "Help!" album...
Sir Paul, YOU ARE MY MOST FAVORITE SONGWRITER AND SINGER EVER, there is not a day goes by that I am not singing or humming one of yours or the Beatle's songs, even in my dreams, Keep rocking, Love you, Michele
I remember hearing this when I first got the Double White album and I thought "My God! This is something special." Is it punk? Heavy metal? This was 1971! Macca beat them all to it. Still rocking, still the best. Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
PAUL MCCARTNEY IS GOD IS A TRULY ANGEL ON EARTH WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE HIM LIVE, WITH HIS GREAT MUSIC, HIS GREAT WORLD OF ROCK, BALLADS AND UNFORGETABLE PERFORMINGS. HE'S A BIG EXAMPLE FOR THE NEW GENERATIONS OF MUSICIANS. LONG LIFE!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to pretend to 3 dislikes are from Harrison, Lennon, & Ringo, simply because they weren't there to join in on this amazing performance. There's no other explanation for a dislike on this video.
