Repetition, self awareness and honesty are definitely elements in the path to mastery.

2:12 Years of experience to be able to parry that thrust from a middle guard like that one.

Great points! Repetition, observation, & being aware of confirmation bias 😄

Great topic, if not as "sexy" as some others. Being a good student is a skill in itself!

I find adding in kick-based martial arts stretches/warm-ups help longevity. Fencing footwork is demanding yet our leg maintenance seems to lack. At least in my experience.

Much true. I can see it while teaching drum and I.33. Repeating is very useful, watching is good while you know what the play is (or can figure out) and the information are very importants, if good. Readied or listened. I had good masters 😊

Ciao Federico. A question about your HEMA journey I conceived while watching this video: how long do you foresee yourself keep practicing HEMA more or less like you currenlty do? Well into your fifties? Your sixties? Your seventies? As someone who recently started following a HEMA school, and being already middle aged, it is a question that often pops up into my mind for how long I'll be able to do it. Since the HEMA movement is so young, and the first generation of practitioners is just recently starting to get really old, I think it will be interesting to see if we will be able to keep practicing till old age proficently, like several people in Kendo do.

Well, I’m planning to practice as much as I can, I know a good number of people still competing in their late 40s. I think that with proper care for the body and attention to keeping good muscles tone it is possible to go forward easily ‘till late sixties, early seventies. Of course by considering the age and setting appropriate goals in relation to muscle tone, age and possible health issues. I’ve seen 80 year old body builders, so I personally think that with passion, attention to proper training without excesses, and a good strength training routine, almost everything is possible.

@@FedericoMalagutti IM in the united states. I started my HEMA journey in my 30s, I am now in my early 60s and have no plans to stop any time soon. I can foresee myself still learning in my seventies and maybe still teaching in my 80s and beyond!

Thank you for such great content. The tips are somehow about wisdom and stability which is important not only for fencing but more in general 🤍
