This kind of sword fighting choreography needs to get in a movie.

+Nope There's lots of places online you can learn-the website they already linked to you is one but there's also loads of other youtube channels, facebook groups and blogs you can use. HEMA International Discussion and The HEMA Alliance are two great groups on facebook for example.
@nope2788

+aleksandar ristic Already doing that, problem is finding people willing enough to hit and get hit with a sword...
@acaristic93
@acaristic93 8 лет назад
+Nope Try emphasizing other aspects of HEMA as well-fitness,scholary work and so on. Also point out that with protective equipment as long as you're using reasonable levels of force no one's getting hurt. Or alternatively try using boffer type swords and wail at each other and show the people how fun it is(when people perceive something as a toy more than a weapon they get a lot more relaxed). Also it usually takes time even for people who wanna learn how to fence to make them actually hit other people. Try talking to martial artists of other combat systems and sports,or just sport fencers. Larpers,reenactors too. Geeks and fantasy lovers in general are often interested in this sort of thing,historians and arhaeologists sometimes find it quite cool as well. :)

Nice choreography my brothers and sisters, very Hollywoodesque! But, at the same time, I have seen some pretty amazing Umschlagen and Druchreichen there. I have always been a great fan of your medieval approach, please do not pursuit the path of the Wood (Game of Thrones bullcrap and the like) Ich hoffe, Eure Klinge trägt Eure Kraft und ich hoffe, Eure Kraft lässt Euch das Schwert (er)tragen. Thaulopi
@7bloodyTears
@7bloodyTears 8 лет назад
+Thaulopi Don`t worry, their sword fencing skills are neither from Game of Thrones (don't like it myself) nor Holllywoodesque (like it even less) Actually they learned and trained these arts and skills by precise descriptions of sword masters from the start of the middle ages and the times after (there are existing still books about it), so this is the original what you have watched. Film industries just copied them poorly
@ahhaboom
@ahhaboom 8 лет назад
+Thaulopi They do seem to be re-creating assorted plates, which technically -would- be choreography. But it's choreography in the same way a flow drill is choreographed, I would say anyway. There to teach muscle memory and reactions and the like.
@7bloodyTears
@7bloodyTears 8 лет назад
ahhaboom I was commenting on Hollywood and their abominations of so called "fighting styles" choreography is for exercising normal first you have to learn the techniques, than you do choreographic for gaining reflexes and only and ONLY than you can handle a real fight, it takes between 2 and 3 years to harvest and refine these skills everything else would be suicide so, choreography is an essential part of learning to wield a weapon
@ahhaboom
@ahhaboom 8 лет назад
7bloodyTears Oh! I wasn't commenting in regards to your comment, though everything you have said is indeed correct! The plates are meant to be snipits of a fight, and essentially a flow-chart of responses for you to move through when clashing. Though I think we're both saying the same thing essentially; rehearsing plates from wallerstein/meyer/Liechtenauer is nothing like hollywood 'combat'. Lots of winding, not a lot of leaping and spinning.
@7bloodyTears

Jason Blood and iron martial arts tends to focus almost exclusively in Meyer’s Liechtenauer (that is not to say that that they haven’t mentioned Liechtenauer or Fiore a couple of times.) Additionally, if you donate $15 to their patreon, you can ask them about certain techniques and they will do a video on it.

I have a question, there is an document or modern school that teach techniques from aztecs or something like that? because I saw that almost european or asiatic culture has figthing techniques, but aztecs seems that have none.
@caesaraugustus3749
@caesaraugustus3749 8 лет назад
Aztecs didn't have swords mate, they had like wooden clubs with obsidian on the edges. Hard to teach swordfighting when there is no swords. By the time the Spanish rocked up with swords, well they killed the aztec empire
@dylanbailey8464
@dylanbailey8464 8 лет назад
If you are referring to the Macuahuitl when you say wooden clubs with obsidian on the edge, you are a little off. The Macuahuitl are still swords since the obsidian on the edge was meant for cutting purposes and was quite sharp (for a rock that is) and was capable off easily cutting flesh. Now I will admit these weapons were far more fragile than your traditional iron bar on a stick and often not nearly as sharp, but they we're far from simple clubs. As for fighting styles I don't know if there are any surviving texts from the Aztecs or Spanish conquistadors than reliably tell us how they were used. I assume there was very little stabbing done with them and probably not a lot of long cuts doo to how easily the obsidian could break off the weapons and into your opponent.
