In my classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology, we are doing some online learning. This is a lesson on what is called Hemstitching, or Drawn Work. It may look a little like a hostage video, but my normal means of making the more well-produced ones, is also sheltering in place. So here it is, without benefit of hair and makeup.

I'm old enough to remember when examples of this beautiful craft were common in people's homes. It's great to see it being revivified.

I am making a 100% linen tunic by hand. Have been looking at various traditional methods of creating a neat decorative hem. I'm not nearly coordinated enough to follow most of the instructions I've found. But, my eyesight is good! I can count! So, I'm doing this for my hem and sleeves. This tutorial gave me the knowledge I needed to do a practice scrap. I'm beyond satisfied with my result and ready to start with the real thing. You do beautiful and inspirational work, sir. Thanks for sharing your skills on RU-vid. Subscribed!

Beautiful!!! How would I go about the seams if I'm doing a dress hem? Are the threads still pulled all the way to the end of the fabric? Or do I seam it up first? Lol x
@kdknyc

Seam it up first, then pull the threads.
