Find Clean Cook Hen of the Woods is a tasty and super healthy wild mushroom. We will find a nice flush of hens and clean it plus cook it the same day... you can't get much fresher than that. The mushroom is commonly known among English speakers as hen-of-the-woods, ram's head and sheep's head. It is typically found in late summer to early autumn. In the United States' supplement market, as well as in Asian grocery stores, the mushroom is known by its Japanese name maitake (舞茸, "dancing mushroom"). It is native to China, Europe, and North America. The scientific name is Grifola frondosa and it is a fall mushroom... you'll never find it in the summer, the hen needs cooler temperatures to fruit. It is not uncommon to look under or around 50 - 100 trees before finding just one Hen of the woods. If you like spending time in the woods gathering wild edibles/mushrooms and connecting with nature or even if this is new to you... Please join the outdoor adventure.
