I used to think that all people were the same, and worthy of being treated equally. Nearly 30 years after apartheid ended, and now being nearly 50 years old, I believe more than ever that we are not all the same. In fact, we are as different as night and day.
However, as for the present problems of South Africa, yes, ANC clearly needs to get out of the government. The old leaders were all-college educated professionals who had a vision about running a country, but the ones in charge now, they're all corrupt leftover sidedishes of the great struggle that had been. ANC is nothing but a party of revolution at this point, and only reason why they're still in power is by feeding on mass ignorance and historical legacy which they are putting to waste.
Somewhat akin to the Democratic party in the US, which feeds on slavery, and would rather keep blacks on the plantation while they fatten their coffers.

Keep in mind that Apartheid was in place for nearly 50 years and was subject to constant changes throughout, Verwoerd though a major historical figure in shaping it was only around for a short time early in Apartheid's history and should not be blamed for the deaths and relocations of africans in the 1970s when outright military clashes and crackdowns occured. He presided over a relatively stable, South Africa.
That was only true due to the fact that black Africans were used as reservoirs for cheap labour and had lost all hope of equal rights. Verwoerd literally passed the Bantu Education Act (1953) which meant that black people had no access to (government provided) education that trained them for anything besides cheap labour. Whether people died or not he was still enforcing policies of black inferiority and certainly does not reflect the 'good neighbourliness' that he claims apartheid stood for.

@@DartagnanTheGreat49there was a woman from the Transkei living in my house she had a daughter my age she was offered night school at my school for free she didn't want it ,the government education today is way worse than bantu education , remember there were not really western schools here historically,my great great great grandmother was a teacher it was nothing like what school is today she obviously could not teach African children as she was not proficient in thier language. there was no one stopping African children from getting and education ,but still today you won't really find a Zulu school or Tswana school there are no text books or material most of it is in English and Afrikaans I had an assistant teacher to help translation.

Well, the "New South Africa" certainly proved him wrong....: People now not only aspire those positions but the hold those positions without even the most basic of educations. People are holding all kinds of positions in society today and in the work place from the top to the bottom with only minimal education. Education is not a requirement for applying for and for holding a position or vocation. In fact, it could be a disadvantage. People who do indeed have an education is forced to seek employment abroad (the so called "brain drain"). The standards of education is continually being lowered. We do not even produce quality teachers any more and in 26 years in the New South Africa, we haven't even produced people educated enough to write text books.

People need to understand how much employment industrialization and mass agriculture leads to. That would not have happened to this day if it wasn't for colonialism in the country. A coloured blue collar worker's salary may have been low, but it was still actual money that you earned regularly that you could use to buy various products and food. This wasn't the case for people in less developed African nations at the time, even if people of today automatically assume so.

That's because at independence, Botswana chose democracy, the rule of law, respect for human rights and free markets. Today blacks think they own South Africa because they are the majority. That's not really true. True they may be indigenous to Africa, but they did not live in South Africa before Europeans came. Europeans were far more advanced than Africans when they first arrived. in an effort to preserve their culture this policy of "individual development" meant that the Africans would develop themselves at their own pace without interference from the Europeans. when the Africans saw how much better European lifestyle was they began demanding access to European ways of life. the apartheid government did however help the africans by building houses for and providing them with skills development so that they can be employed . I see the africans uprising as purely based on greed for European ways of life due to them not being happy with their own lifestyle of which was apart of their culture

Apartheid can be reversed but there is no justification for it. You can't remark that "history absolves it, and indeed it is a deserved practice." You can't justify genocide. The problem is the disproportionate between the population statistics and the land partitioned. At its peak, the white population was no more than 20 percent, but held 80%+ the land (if you exclude the Bantustans). I think if the whites would’ve just taken the Cape area to develop a White state and give the rest of the country to the indigenous, things would’ve been better. At least we would then have 1 developed nation in Africa.

Rampele is a joke - that was evident when she accepted the DA position, without even telling her mates, then changing her mind again - she had my vote before that... Thats a blow she delt agang herself. As for Zille, NO... we know her agenda, we see it, we see her... USA and Canada, blacks have their african countries, there are a lot of countries for black and white people and what the white people should do is to help this black countries to be richer and devoloped instead of watching them dying of famines, so, the thing is, we help them, they not have to come to europe. lol, dnt be decieved. That applied only to whites - the afrikaaners and the Europeans were treated as good neighbours, and they were allowed to live together, coz they were seen as people. No black person was allowed to live close or with any white person... only the maids were allowed to do that.
