This video follows a weekend in my life, competing at Chester Regatta in the run up to Qualifiers at Henley Royal Regatta.
This video is the first in a short mini series titled 'Henley Prep' - documenting my two week run-in to Henley Royal Regatta, where I will be racing a time trial in the Qualifiers hoping to secure a place in the first round of the Regatta.
I have never been to Henley and never raced in any major regattas in an 8+ so it is very exciting and new to me and I hope to create as many videos as I can over these next 2 weeks in order to show my experience.
This first episode shows my crew racing at Chester Regatta as preparation for Henley, we finished second in the 1800m time trial and then lost in the A final against Royals 1st VIII in a close fought race. Next weekend is Marlow Regatta and I'm looking forward to taking you along on this journey.

Most technical seat?! Always heard it called the cheese sandwich seat 😆 looking good. Heading to Henley to watch so may see you there. Club v Club racing is so hard. You want to win, but you don't. Our 2nd crew smashed our top boat last year. Such an epic win. Good luck for Henley.

Yeah, 100% sarcasm, I just have to pull hard and vaguely stay in time 😂. Oh we definitely wanted to win haha, but its all good, friendly competition and I think its making both boats go faster!

Congrats on a good Regatta. I've just joined RCRC myself. Only started rowing in September after a rugby injury left my left knee in pieces, but caught the bug and can't stop now! You might see me occasionally struggling to row a single (spent all year at stroke in a 4 and 8, so not much sculling experience). Good luck with Henley, hope you smash it

Really glad to hear that you're enjoying the vlogs, means a lot. Over the last month, I've typically been having one day off a week. I typically have 2-3 midweek water outings, with 2 ergos and 3-4 weights sessions - then at the weekend we do 2 double outings... so thats total maybe 6-7 water outings, 2 ergos and 3-4 weights sessions. I use a Canon 700D, GoPro Hero 4 or iPhone 5S. And we are entering the Thames Challenge Cup at Henley

I've done it a handful of times, seems nice and chilled - not good/experienced enough to fully enjoy paddling around in a single, but I imagine its pretty enjoyable!
