How to mix Mehendi / henna and indigo paste to naturally color hair at home
To color grey hair:
Mix 25% indigo for red brown
Mix 50% for brown
Mix 75% for brown black
Please add 1 tvsp aleo vera powder for softness.

Points to remember:
1) Quality of henna/mehendi powder and indigo powder should be good and all natural. Poor quality, bad results. 😪
2) henna or indigo might be old and you might not stored those in cool dark area. So they demise quickly.
3) if your hair is thick and black then either try 75% indigo paste and just 25% henna paste
Or
You can try 2 step process, first apply henna paste wash it and then apply indigo paste within a day or 2
4) do not mix lemon or curd or yogurt in henna
5) keep paste on for 4-6 hrs
6) you can also put again the paste in 1-2 weeks if you have lot of grey hair and putting this for the first time.
7) follow same steps as i shown in video, indigo and henna paste demise quickly. Do not store paste just apply immediately after dye release
8) first just wash with water, shampoo after 2 days
9) mix some tea tree oil for better color
10) mix fresh aloe vera or aloe vera powder to add shine and moisture.
It always worked on me, my family and all my clients 😊

This is the most thorough, practical application of a henna mixture that I have EVER seen - I haven't been doing it this way and I certainly SHOULD be. My mixtures are always so grainy and dry, that's part of the problem I think. What a wonderful video, thank you!!

Oh. Did you add a spoon of aloe vera powder and tea tree oil ? At first wash it feels dry. Apply some oil or serum and then wash next day and apply conditioner after shampoo. They will be good and healthy. Please read description of video. Let me know

What color you want ? Brown, reddish brown, dark brown? Initially you can put once in a 2-3 weeks after that once in 6-8 weeks. You can reapply only to roots or greys if you want. You fo not always need to put on all hair.

Hola. No sería mejor mezclar la Henna el índigo a la vez? Tengo el cabello rojo, un rojo muy chulo, pero la raiz blanca totalmente, así que me he pasado a la Henna por salut de mis cabellos y las plaquitas de psoriasis en mi cuero cabelludo. Me puse la Henna natural primero y luego la Henna + Amla y la verdad es que se me quedó muy cobre. No se cuál ponerme para matizar el color butano que se quedó en la raíz. Si tienes algun remedio me lo dices porfa. Me han comentado que use índigo, pero no se me quedará negro? No quiero negro, sino mi rojo caoba tan bonito que tenía. Muchas gracias.

I want to try henna for the first time to cover my grey hair now. Can I use coconut oil / argan oil / castor oil instead of tea tree oil? Will it be OK if I also add milk?

No. Tea tree oil is essential oil not regular oil. You can add lavender or eucalyptus essential oil but not coconut or argan or castor. If you add these you will not get good color. Milk will also not give you great color.

Tea tree essential oil is best for hair. You can add other essential oil too like eucalyptus, lavender (like mehendi ka oil) . But not regular oil, only essential oil. If you have more red orange and if you want brown then try this one step process. Depends on hair to hair but usually 4-6 weeks atleast. You can try just 50-50 % henna and indigo paste. It will give you beautiful reddish brown. You can adjust later if you want light or dark.

Hi.. thank you so much . if you want black color. You can follow my video to make henna paste apply it wash it and within 1-3 days make indigo paste same as my video and apply. This is a 2-step process. Which give you black color. Or you can mix 75% of indigo paste and 25% henna paste together and apply. This will give you dark brown color.

U can freeze it. Henna is easily freeze and reuse, but if you are just storing indigo it demise very quickly.

The problem is i usually work with asian’s hair which are brown or black, i never faced such situation in my life. I also tried henna indigo on my bleached hair and switched multiple times between the two but i never had such issue. I am also trying to find answer to your question. 😊

What a way of application!! I've never seen such a method! Really gets every strand coated well and doesn't just make a huge heavy lump of hair that we have to put as a bun on top of the head. But is this method probably difficult to do to ourselves?

Sunu Sajeev it takes 48 hrs to get dark color after wash. Now regularly use henna indigo. Stop those colors. You can only do on grey, no need to do all hair all the time. Yes you can apply henna anytime. I suggest stop using chemical and apply all natural henna and indigo. If your hair is thin it will give you great results. First time apply to roots and all hair. Second time you can also just touch up only roots.

Hi, Thanks again I found Iranian indigo which is called Vasme. I mixed henna and indigo as you said. But 65% henna and 35% indigo, and I used it just the roots (1.5 cm) the result on my gray hair is great 🙏🌺 nice medium brown but on my naturally black hair nothing changed. Could you please guide me how can I change them to the same color at the same time?

You can make little thick paste in warm water. After dye release also add some warm water for consistency. Sit near heater in winter. Do not go out in wind when paste is on. Do not sit under direct sunlight.

You mean keratin treatment? You can do on colored hair or keratin treated hair too. You should try henna its natural. Initially you might need to apply every 2-3 weeks to just cover grey, later u need only once in 4-6 weeks.

Then in the morning I mixed indigo in hot water and then after 5/6min I mixed it in my heena. Left for almost 2hrs, and then rinsed it. But sadly my hair didn't turn black. Plze help me ....

Henna indigo takes 2 days to get the color. How much henna paste you mixed with how mych indigo ? You will get a brown dark brown. But if you need black color u need to go for 2-step process. That means one day apply just henna and next day indigo

you can add black tea or just regular water also. coffee is optional and I don't think it harm. my hairfall is almost stopped with this paste.

We can not color any lighter shade using henna. But applying only henna will give you a red tint. If you more more lighter then you need to bleach first. I do not recommend that.

Hi. Many thanks for your useful tutorial. I'm from Iran. I know Henna but I can't find indigo here. I googled it. I confused because I saw in Wikipedia in Persian language they call it نیل But it is blue powder extract from indigo plant and used for industrial use not for hair color. Also there is another plant in Wikipedia that use in Iran for dye hair Isatis tinctoria وسمه in Persian The pic of plant is different compare indigo plant, but the powder is the same color that you used in video. Only if you feel very dry after first wash, apply some serum or few drops of oil in wet hair. Second wash with shampoo and proper conditioning will help. Always add aloe vera powder and a spoon of tea tree oil in the henna paste for moisture.

@@HennaStyles I tried 70% indigo and 30% henna mix. I soaked henna overnight just with warm water. Made indigo paste in the morning with warm water. Let it sit for 20min. Mix both paste together. Applied to my clean hair. Left it on for 3 hours. Shampoo my hair next day. Results are good. My grey hair are mostly cover. I didn't want 100% coverage anyway. Looks promising. I was tired of two step henna process. Thank you for sharing your experience.

The dye release time of henna and indigo is very different. Henna start releasing the color or dye after few hours of soacking but indigo start releasing color in a few mins after we soak in water. So they can not mix together as powder. But you can make separate paste and then mix paste together.

Hi... actually if you go to parlour they will try to sell you chemicals, they will never say good about natural henna or indigo. Initially you need to apply henna with herbs and indigo little frequently. After you will need to patch only once in a 4-8 weeks. If you have dark brown black color try to do 2-step henna indigo as shown in my other video. Add little salt in indigo. Read all instructions in my video description. If you add aloe vera, amla powder,hibiscus flower and leaves, few drops of tea tree oil. Your hair will be very strong and never dry. You will feel thickness and softness. I do not have white but then also i apply henna mask. Henna molecule add s bonds with hair protein. It works aa sun screen for your hair. I will recommend stop using all chemical colors snd dyes and stick to henna and indigo. Zohra Rouidi you can apply little oil on damp hair. Or hair serum. If you feel lot dry you can apply honey mask on your hair next day or later. Usually if you add little tea tree oil and aloe vera, it does not dry. Henna makes your hair stronger, you doesn’t need to shampoo frequently as your hair will not feel very oily. I done it and it work. I put 70% indygo i 30% henna for dark chocokolet brown colour ,exactly how you advise, thank you very much 😘and it even c9ver all my grey hair, and I have a lot of them as I am 8n my 40. One thing is bodering me , my sk8n has coll undertones, so I used to dye my hair in brown with cool undertones becouse my face look fresher and younger that way. With henna and indygo the color is perfect but it has that warm redisch underton, is there a way to get rid of it? Or make it cool brown? Couse i feel l8ke suddenly I got 10 yers older 🙈

Indigo used to get brown black tones, as with henna we usually get orange red tones. The more brown black u want the more percentage of indigo paste u mix with henna. Indigo don’t work alone. I don’t recommend egg or curd or lemon in henna to dye hair. Instead amla and aloe vera powder is better.

Not mix in any iron or other metal, mix in glass or plastic bowl. Tea tree oil around a tea spoon is really good. If you mix henna in cold water then you can leave overnight around 8hrs. But for indigo it dye release very quickly so you can not leave overnight.

Rubina Khan use egg or curd or yogurt when u do not want to color your grey hair. When you just want as a hair pack. As these will kill the color. U do not need them. You should add aloe vera powder and tea tree oil instead. So for just hair pack use it for hair color do not use it.

Hey what is your hair color? If you want brown go for 30% henna paste plus 70% indigo paste. If you want black then try two step process first just henna and next day indigo. Thank you so much! Lemon is not good for hair. Yogurt and curd is not good if you want to color your hair. There is a science behind how henna molecule work with skin and hair keratin. It's a pity that they do not investigate well on how to correctly use the henne. In the first place no metal utensils are used only glass and wood can be used. When the henne is removed you should not use shampoo or conditioner, only wash with water. You can use the shampoo until after a few days. Thanks for the feedback. I understand. but my client shared this pic after she did shampoo and conditioning and i missed putting the step in my video. In my other videos i explained to just wash with water. In one single video i cannot put a ton of info. I used steel metal spoon ( which does not oxidise or react with henna ) I am a certified henna artist with international certification in henna. I will make sure i put enough info in my future videos.
