Old NHL Power Week clip from VHS. NHL draft 1999. Vancover Canucks Friendly games in Stockholm against MoDo Hockey and Djurgården. Sedins First NHL goal and so on....
Daniel and Hendrik Sedin didn't become superstars on the Vancouver Canucks right after they were drafted. It certainly took them quite a bit of time. But as year after year went by, the Sedin twins got better and better. These two young men are caring the future of this franchise on their shoulders? That they are!! Thank you Brian Burke for drafting the Sedins.
canucks line up now is packed with harworking skilled players who play both sides of the rink: sedin twins, burrows, samuelsson, kesler, hansen.... they also have just offensive players but limited ice time prevent them racking up points: wellwood, raymond, grabner... and the prospects don't look shabby either: hodgson and shroeder....
@GreatTippy Brian Burke is one of the best GMs in the league, this man always knows what he's doing. As much as I hate to say it, Toronto is going to be a force next season.
People say Burke is a crappy GM, not canucks fans should be agreeing with this. If it wasnt for Burke, we wouldnt have the sedines, therefore, i like Burke because of what he did to the canucks franchise.
@exapetatera0 Lol like I said I couldnt think of them all off the top of my head. And is Bernier still a Canuck? I thought he got traded along with the 25th pick.
@cameroncrazie818 nah, I don't think so. Obviously the other GM's valued what Burke had to to offer more than drafting the twins otherwise they wouldn't have made the deal
@RapRockHockey I remember when some people felt that way...but I think that was the vocal minority. I never and most of my friends never called them 'sisters' or wanted them traded.
Wow. Nice to see a hockey fan finally stick up for the ladies. Does suck being a fan when you're a girl sometimes given the sexist comments you hear all the time. And I'd really love the guys who say that shit go up against one of the girls from the women's Olympic team. Sure they wouldn't do well in the NHL. Men and women are built differently, but they still kick a lot of ass and are just as skilled. Calling a man a woman as an insult is just stupid and archaic. Grow up, guys.
well look at the dusters they were playing against back then haha teams might've been worried about their capability of adjusting to the NHL, especially back in the old NHL when it was more physical, they're really shining more in the new NHL because of maturing but also because it's a more open game now. Plus, like they say in this video, adjusting to a new continent and environment isn't always easy. Either way, the Sedins are great and hopefully they keep up the play, it's fun to watch.
the people that were brought in to help the sedin's grow, bring Linden back, Klatt, Messier, say waht you wil..but look at them now.. Better because of those guys, and no passing it on to the youngers.
i wish burkey was our (Leafs) GM back then too haha the Sedins are sick! carrying my fantasy league i might add, i drafted them back-to-back too! but i got them 42nd and 43rd overall end of 3rd and start of 4th round
@nuwenese i'd give it a year or two for kadri and colbourne to reach their potential. A couple of free agents (defencemen, most likely), and they're on there way .
