Henry Andrew Love was born on March 29, 1956 to the late Silas Sr. and Bertha Williamson Love, in Denmark, TN.
He ended his earthly journey on the morning of January 7, peacefully in his home.
Henry accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Denmark CME. He attended school in the public school system, where he was a proud graduate of the West High class of 1974.
In 1978, Henry married the love of his life and best friend, Marie Tate. Their love was an unbreakable one, that shared a lifetime of unforgettable reminiscence. This 43-year union of marriage brought forth two beautiful daughters, Tara and Nakilla. Henry was a family man and he cherished his family and loved ones dearly. His love and compassion reached to new levels in 1996, when he obtained the title of grandfather. He accepted this new title by welcoming his first granddaughter Shaniya, that he raised as his daughter. She held a special piece of his heart and from day one she was known as his “Smoodie Woodie”. As time progressed, so did his family and five more grandchildren were added. They all held a special place within his heart. This love only continued to grow with his great- grandchildren.
To know Henry was to know that he was a very hard-working man. He endured over 45 years at Packaging Corporation on America (PCA). He took great pride within his work and work efforts. Throughout his time at PCA he held several positions, including president of the work force union. Henry was a natural born leader. This leadership characteristic wasn’t just a factor at work, he was a leader within his family as well. He served as his family’s “go to” person. It was nothing that he wouldn’t do to assist the ones that he loved. He was the true definition of, just a call away. Henry held many roles for his family. At any given time, he could be the babysitter, the plumber, the mechanic, the landscaper, the uber driver, the handy man, the therapist, the cook (who could ever forget his coon) and the list continues. He was a known protector and the glue that held everyone together.
Henry had several interest and hobbies. Family and football topped the list. He loved spending quality time with his wife. They would often go fishing, out dining, or on a quick road trip to their special place. He loved family gatherings (which were predominantly held at the Love house). From the time anyone would step foot onto the driveway, they could feel his warmth and hear him say “Come on in, Marie is in the house”. He made everyone feel welcomed and he exemplified the definition of his name. If you were in his presence, that was his “Love”. He was a die- hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. On Sundays, during football season, you could always find him in his recliner waiting on the coin- toss. Henry was also an avid supporter of the Denmark community. He loved the country and he never hesitated to let you know that he was and always will be a West High Tiger.
Whether you knew him as “Hen, Uncle Hen, Mr. Henry, Mr. Love, Henny Hen, or Whop Jr.” to know him was to love him. He touched so many lives in so many different ways. He will forever live in the hearts of those who love him. He will greatly be missed. For earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; Silas Sr. and Bertha Love; three brothers Silas Jr., Brent Howard, and George Love; one sister, Josie Marie Talley; and a granddaughter, Bra’Kyla Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Marie Love: two daughters; Tara Love, and Nakilla (Brandon) Jones of Arlington, TN: six grandchildren; Shaniya Ellison of Augusta, GA, Ja’Karius Carroll, Brandon, Devin, Layla, and Leah Jones of Arlington, TN: three great- grandchildren: Jha’Khylan, Jha’Kolby, and Jha’Kari Haynes of Augusta, GA. He also leaves two brothers; Samuel (his twin) and Neely Love: one sister Rosemerry (Henry) Brand: four sisters in law; Rolene Love of Indianapolis, IN, Carol (Wayne) Jones, Brenda Tate, and Joyce Love: two brothers in law, Fred (Rose) James of Chicago, IL, and Anthony (Teresa) Reynolds of Tacoma, WA. He also leaves three aunts; Maggie Harris and Phyllis Williamson of Indianapolis, IN and Juanita Bond of Brentwood, CA: a dedicated niece, that was just like a daughter, Toyorah Willoughby and a host of other relatives and friends that will continue to keep his memory alive.
