Followed your tips, took the wires of the connectors on the on off switch and high and low, cleaned them with wet and dry sandpaper, put the Hoover back together. Switched on and shocked that I now have it up and running again. Thank you so much for putting life back into my Henry.
This video really helped! We worked out it was the broken contacts. Got new contacts and new cable ( just in case) via Henry Bags. Thanks so much. Saved us a few £££££😊
This is a great video, I'm glad I found it. As luck would have it I managed to point the fault to the PCB straight away as I could follow power into the vacuum. I removed the PCB and wired the motor wires directly to the switch - hey presto it worked. It's disappointing to find this PCB in the vacuum, a delicate part that sellers are demanding £30 just for the PCB. There is no need for it to be included in the design of the vacuum, a poor engineering decision. I can see why a lot of these end up being thrown away which is not good for the environment, cost etc. Thanks again and I hope a lot of people use this to keep their Henry going.

big help thanks man - after 8 years, our Henry decided to stop working. Thankfully I had a multi meter to test the continuty which failed on the live wire. So not knowing where the damage was, I was snipping off chunks of cable on both ends until I got connection again. Lost about 2 meters of chord - thankfully it was not in the middle!

I got issue with henrymicro model. Everything is ok, power is on, switch working, motor also working but ut doesn’t take any dust from floor. Their is low air pressure on hoses and more on the outlet of motor. How can I fix this? Thank you
@@amardipthapa7857 when does the suction reduce, when you add the hose on or the metal pipe? No hissing noises from joins? Must be a leak or a blockage there is no other reason

Hey bro, thank you for the video. I have a henry hoover with burning smell and it tripped all my socket everytime I switched it on. It was my sister used it to hoover wet carpet and caused this problem. Please want should I do?😔
Hi. Ok so the motor is going to be where the issue is. Have a look at the motor and check that it is totally dry, and that the spinning part that the carbon brushes come into contact with looks ok. Sadly it probably won’t be ok if water has got in there. Any water usually causes damage to the motor and this in turn has probably damaged the carbon brushes (your burning smell) The tripping of the socket means neutral and live are connecting in the motor before they should be… this usually means it’s still wet in there… or it’s really damaged. It’s likely to be a change of motor that you need. Open it up and let me know what you find if you need more guidance. You can also send photos to me at Facebook.com/Henryhooverbags Jonny
If you have low suction. 1. Change filter (or at least bang any dust out) 2. New bag. 3. Check for blockages by adding hose, then pipes, then tool… to see where the suction drops. 4. If you have air leak on hose at the joint, get the tightened up. I have like 6 of these at work few smaller new ones that stand about a foot tall and a few older looking larger ones taller by about 5 inches maybe. Two are broken .The one has a broken on off switch,another one might have bad or broken pins you first show in the hat ,or it’s the pcb switch. Because it’s new barely used and just won’t turn on. One more just struggles taking about 10 seconds to reach full power I think it could be a start capacitor? They have those right ?I’m going to take them apart on Monday

The one that’s taking a while to start up. Have to let me know what model but there isn’t any start capacitor on these. Hi if you have the one with power boost switch the led isn’t too important. You clearly have power going to it from somewhere so I would use this video to check 1. Switch… just to rule out. 2. Carbon brushes (this wouldn’t have been a sudden swathe it would have been a lot of motor farting and smelling) 3. PCB (circuit board) … by far the most common part to cause issues on your model) skip to around 7mins on the video and try bypassing the whole thing as shown) Jonny
Would it be stuck on whatever setting it was last on if the pcb high low switch is bad. Like when i use the technique you mentioned can I put it on high or on low just by how I put it together?
@@noctunoctura2408 no sorry, if you are bypassing the hi low then the full voltage will go to the motor, meaning it’s on full power. Essentially what the hi low switch and circuit board do it reduce the power to the motor when it’s on low.
Hi, really helpful, thanks. Mine Henry hoover HRV 200 stopped working and I followed the steps and changed the press on on-off switch. It started for a friction of second and then stopped working again. The Switch is still ok as I am getting the sound while checking with the multi-meter. Any suggested action would be helpful, please?
@@sanjayaaryal5162 I would take the casing off to access motor an checked the carbon brushes then. With you having a multimeter you can technically put the switch on and check connection bridging from the plug pins to the wires on the motor. If power is getting through you know it’s the motor at fault. Let me k ow how you get on and I’ll keep an eye out on comments in case you need any more help
@HenryBags when the hoover stopped working, power socket fuse had gone down and while following your steps I found the push down on/off switch faulty which is now replaced. It started for a fraction of second after replacing the switch but again stopped working again. is it something to do with short circuit somewhere?
@@sanjayaaryal5162 the only 2 things on yours that can cause a short (blowing the fuse) is the cable, switch or motor. Check the new fuse again. Check power is getting to motor. Check length of carbon brushes and get back to me. Very simple set up so can only be cable, switch or motor.
Hi i have a henry which has the high and low speed working great yesterday plugged it in today and nothing not even the light comes on,no burning smell no horrible noises just dead tried the plugs fuse but still nothing,any advice would be great👍
Hi Happy to help. Here is what to do with yours (by the sound of it) Pressuring you have no multimeter, do these steps…. 1. Take his cover off and check the rewind contacts underneath his cable part. If they are ok. (2 minutes into this video) 2. Clean switch contacts (video on my channel called “free henry switch repair”) 3. Do a bypass of the circuit board. (See 7 minute into this video and follow instructions) The 3 above are the most likely cause from what you have said. Let me know how you get on Jonny
HVR160-11 was working in my livingroom no prob til my kindie switched the power off and I went to switch it back on but no motor noise or nothing just the power light showing it's plugged in. Checked the tubes no blocks and bag is new never got too hot either any suggestions?

If you have the light then it means it can only be the switch or the motor on your model. 1. Switch…. Hi my hoover just stopped with no symtoms, its one of the newer models with led and the model name is HVR160-11, I stopped the vacuum and I started it again and wouldnt turn on. The red LED is on when plugged in put when I press the green button it dosnt power please help

@@paulgosling286 ok regardless of wiring… remove the circuit board and hi low and all the wiring that goes to it. You now need to put the brown and blue from the ring connection to the end 2 pins of the power switch…. Then put the white motor wires on the other 2 pins. I literally just bought henry a new set up (hose, attachments and filter) and hes stopped working. The motor sounds a bit rattly and the suction is poor (even though i bought new) adter a few mins he turns off...any ideas on where to look before i rip him apart? 🙏
@@cherihayward350 is he vibrating almost when in use? Also when you come back to him after he has had a rest does he start up again ok? If so on the above. It is however likely that with nothing to stop dirt going into the motor that this has been hammered as a result. Worst case scenario you can replace the motor…. @@pkumar2136 Hi as I try to explain on the video. The Red light is before the switch, so if this isn’t working it’s going to be the cable contacts or the power cable. Just look at the contacts, if they aren’t broken then leave them… and change the cable. Hope this helps Jonny henrybags.co.uk
Hi, Sorted. It was only the plug faulty. Thanks to the power detector, my cousin figured out, so we didn't had to buy new cable. My cousin had a spare plug, however, we had to cut the old plug, as there was no screw to open, and then we put the new plug into it, and is working back to normal. Thanks for reply and videos.
Hi I have the older model with the hi low. Switched it on an heard a small pop from where the switch is an little puff of smoke 💨 I’m still getting power as it lights up any ideas what it could be
Hi Ok so if still getting power it’s going to be anything from the switch and after. On the video work through the steps. I would guess that it’s going to be the PCB (circuit board) but just check the switch and other parts in there. Too tip… if the circuit board pops it usually smells so follow your nose when you get inside Let me know how you get on or if still struggle Jonny

On yours if led I on when plugged in the issue is likely to be the switch. Try cleaning. If you have done this the issue will be with the motor itself. If the carbon brushes are ok may be the thermal cut out in the motor has failed…. Only really happens on these newer 620w models Do let me know how you get on
@@vacuumhelp I did actually put it all back together and it worked haha I just assumed it wouldn’t because I did all the checks and everything was ok , the only other thing I did was around the top of the motor where the copper prongs touch the top of mother they had grease on them and also the round copper part had grease on so I wiped off the grease where these two would make contact . Should I have done this ?
@@MrRazzledazzle1 ok interesting. I guess the contacts probably had too much in then and cleaning them up has sorted it. You have done nothing wrong at all. If it works, it works. I think sometimes there is abit too much grease on some of them.
Hi It’s likely to be the circuit board inside. Skip to 7 minutes in on the video and carefully try what I show you with wiring the motor to the switch. This will confirm that it’s the circuit board.
Thanx for the video. My Henry stopped working when the bag had come off and the inside was completely stuffed - consequently it was overheating. I've cleared it obviously but it still won't start. Is there a trip? I've changed the fuse btw. Thanks David S
@@davidshortt8673 there is a thermal cut out within the motor. If this has totally failed sadly they can’t be bought separately. It’s rare for these to totally fail too. Worth checking everything else over first before you go to the expense of a new motor though. Jonny Henrybags.co.uk
