I have a spray foam roof with a couple baseball size blisters. Can I cut them out and use the silicone stuff to fill them or do I need something more like a paste such as Apoc?
Is the Acrylic Enviro 687 coating considered elastomeric? If we already have a small area coated with another brand white elastomeric coating can we just go over it with the Henry 887 Tropi- cool ? I really like the rain ready in less than an hour of the 887, that's awesome especially in New England where we're having rain, high humidity and heat every single day. It also looks thick and good enough for use on asphalt shingle pitched roofing. Any suggestions or ideas welcome. I did thoroughly clean the dark colored asphalt shingles. Thank you
@@liberals_destroy_everythin2497 Helped friend put Henry's on his roof last downpour and at first thought he had given me a previously used can. It was one third empty if not half. I have used product enough to have it shock me. We bought half can ( half of 5gallon) and sure enough tragedy ... i mean strategy worked. I figured there was less room for them to fudge on. KFC did same as well taco bell with burrito supreme and... don't me me started lol . I will not say it is not the money. But will say it is the audacity they would short us and think we do not notice.
Which one is better at staying clean? I am on a hill where you can easily see my roof on one side, I am concerned that the white will get dirty quickly.
Like what's best to use in Puerto Rico? The problem here is the wet season. Rains each day. Not usually given the 48 or 24 hours to dry. Could rain for days. I tried many sealants not pond resistant. Due to not enough time to drain. Like rain every several hours lasting months. So a 48 hour dry roof not work where I live. To only need repairs every few months. Dry season roof seems ok.
What type of prep do I need to do prior to installing the tropicool 887 to my existence 4 ply fiberglass asphalt flat roof that has been silver-coated approximately 7 years ago
as long as the paint is not chipping but is a structuraly adherent layer, just scub it and rinse off to be completely dust free... there has to be no moisture before you apply the silicone... i've actually gone as far as mopped with acetone to leave the roof completely dry and dust free after washing, and then that silicone stuff applied great (though i did use a primer for it too) expensive as hell though
What part is confusing? Fast forward to 1:45 and the chart shows that Tropi-Cool is waterproof while Enviro White is not. The video at 0:20 says Tropi-Cool handles standing water while EnviroWhite can only handle it for 48 hours max. At 0:30 it says acrylic coating are not waterproof. Go with Tropi-Cool !
Hi. I understand the silicone is slippery. Is it possible to use the silicone then when that dries apply a coat or two on to of that? I would think the acrylic would be less slippery, the flat roof would be water proofed, and the reflective properties of the acrylic would help lower those electric bills ..or am I totally wrong? Please let me know. I need to fix my flat roof and want to make the best decision about this. Thanks :)
Don't use acrylic, its a joke. There is one other option I know of: Durabak18 smooth or textured, Polyurethane that is flexible. Hard, UV resistant, heat resistant, cold resistant. Great stuff. You can use one coat textured the other smooth.
@@mjremy2605 Hi!! Thank you for the info. I just found out last week that my flat roof has foam under it (a lot of which can be seen now) and roofer said I'd need to remove all that foam before applying anything to the flat roof. Is that true? I'm wondering if he said that to discourage me from making the repair myself. ??
@@jonesy5722 Can you cover the foam with metal sheets or fiberglass? Talk to some roofing experts. Don't make expensive mistakes. Painting on foam may dissolve it from chemicals. However, I would leave te insulating foam and cover it up with a sheet of something, but not wood. How about a waterproof membrane and you cover that with metal, and cover that with Durabak or Silicone? That should last a good 15 yrs.
@@mjremy2605 Thank you again. I'll look into this. I'm hoping I can do this myself. I hope you won't mind if I reach out to you again if need be. Thanks!
Yes, but Henry recommends the Tropi-Cool white for RV EPDM. Tropi-Cool only needs one coat, it fully waterproofs the roof and has better adhesion. I am buying the 5 gallon bucket of Tropi-Cool for our travel trailer that has an EPDM roof. The extra cost is well worth the added benefits of a 100% silicone coating.
@@Andrew-fr3bp Thank you for commenting. Is the 687 Enviro- White considered " elastomeric " ?Because, I have a small area ( 8' x 8' ) I used Ames Elastomeric white and want to do the rest with the 887 Tropi- Coat and wonder if there's any problem bonding the two, like at the overlap? Can I just go over the elastomeric stuff I used with the Henry 887 Tropi- Coat? It's on a 30 degree pitched asphalt shingle shed. I cleaned the shingles well with bleach and TSP and scrubbing prior. I wonder what the life expectancy guarantee is with the Henry 887 Tropi- Coat, it seems like great stuff. In the video it looks nice and thick so I'm thinking it will grab pretty well on a pitched roof. Thank you
@@Andrew-fr3bp yep, will try calling them soon. Does this Henry 887 silicone adhere to all the self leveling caulking around all the vents and the front and rear caulking strips on the RV roof? Did you apply it right on top of the caulk and right up to the actual metal part of the vents. Thanks
@@Hundert1 around the roof vents, skylight, front/rear seams, etc, I first used Tropi-Cool "Seam and Repair Roof Sealant" and then covered it all with regular Tropi-Cool. As far as I know, both products can go over the self-leveling lap sealant caulk.
The Acrylic & Silicone coatings are not meant for shingles. We have RoofSaver which is a product specifically for shingle protection: www.homedepot.com/p/Henry-Henry-812-RoofSaver-Clear-Sealer-Shingle-Coating-to-Extend-Shingle-Life-0-90-Gal-HE812146/312979687
